This theory has merit but previously the alolan pokedex statement says that mimicu is not another Pokemon, just its one that has an appearance so frightning that when its trainer looks under its cloth, they die. Mimicu just wanted to be loved by its trainer and not be alone so it dresses up as a pikachu because everyone loves pikachu. It doesnt necessarily hate pikachu just envys the love it gets from other trainers.

I disagree. Porygon wasn’t “banned”. The episode was. A good number of Pokémon each season get their own episode and its episode just didn’t end well for a lot of people. It’s not a bad theory but I take it at face value: Pikachu is insanely popular and any Pokémon would be jealous. I would mess around and say it was Gary's BIDOOF but BIDOOF is very over powered, having the base stats of 275 in everything but speed and thats at 750. Bidoof is the most over powered legendary and all it would need to be banned from everything like Rayquaza Mega is a Primal Bidoof with stats up to 999999999999999 for everything. A few problems with this theory. First off, Porygon wouldn't look up to Pikachu and want to be Pikachu if Pikachu was the reason it was banned, it would hate Pikachu. Second, the reason they specify 20 years is because it's the 20th anniversary of Pokemon. The in-game connection likely has something to do with Red, whom back in gen 1 managed to put an end to Team Rocket and become the Champion in a relatively short time with his Pikachu. The real life connection is that 20 years ago Pokemon began and was almost immediately a huge success, bringing popularity to Ash's Pikachu and making Pikachu the mascot of the franchise. The information on Mimikyu suggests it has always been hidden under a cloth and just made it into a Pikachu costume when Pikachu gained so much popularity, popularity visible even in the games themselves. As for the location where you get Porygon, seeing a Mimikyu in the same room is the absolute weakest connection possible, especially since there's also a Wimpod in that same room. And Team Rocket was likely mistaking Mimikyu for Pikachu, thus their reaction. And don't forget that Mimikyu is a ghost/fairy, not a normal type like Porygon, so that transformation would need an explanation if it was just making the shape. But even that isn't possible as the head falls over when Mimikyu's disguise is broken, meaning the Pokemon itself is actually underneath the cloth, and fairly small, taking up only the bottom half at most. Finally and most crucially, it directly states in the games that any who look at Mimikyu's true identity are cursed with death, so NOBODY KNOWS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE. So, to summarize: There's already an explanation for Mimikyu taking the form of Pikachu, there would be no explanation for the type change, Porygon is not the right size or shape to fit under the cloth, before Pikachu became popular Mimikyu used something else, and nobody knows what Mimikyu looks like. Oh, and a point I forgot, Mimikyu is terrified of light, Porygon isn't.

Stating that Porygon was first made 20 years ago, which is the same time Pikachu started getting popular means nothing. Remember, it isn't even Mimikyu's Pokedex entry that says so, it is the Pokémon Sun & Moon site. The Pokedex simply states it conceals its true form with rags, and the site states that Pikachu's popularity made it decide to start dressing up as it. Again, this implies that it just wore a regular cloth before that. And looking at what the site says, its simply that Pikachu began getting popular 20 years ago, and it was that popularity that had Mimikyu disguise itself as Pikachu. That doesn't necessarily mean 20 years ago they started dressing as Pikachu, just that Pikachu started getting popular 20 years ago. 3. Conversion and Conversion 2 are just temporary changes, like Ditto's Transform. And unlike a Ditto, Porygon can only change how it looks, not fully replicate a Pokémon, meaning that whether Ditto's gender changes or not, Porygon's wouldn't. Not to mention that was only in the anime, and can only be done when in cyberspace. Outside of cyberspace it has very limited motion according to the Pokedex, being limited to a few basic movements that it was programmed to do. This goes directly against being able to turn itself into a new Pokémon to hide its identity and learn new moves. Also, once again, Mimikyu is a Pokémon hidden under a sheet. The Pikachu costume is just that, a costume. If it was a Porygon, the Porygon would be UNDER the sheet, so what it can transform into wouldn't affect things. However, being much larger and heavier does, as Mimikyu is 1/4 the size, with less than 2% of Porygon's weight. That also disproves the two Pokémon part. And once again, light weakens it, thus part of the original need for the cloth, which is why it works through the night to fix the cloth, another thing Porygon couldn't do without being programmed to. And there's again still the problem of the curse brought by seeing Mimikyu's true form. So to summarize, beyond the typing problem remaining, there's still the fact that, Jessie's Mimikyu being an exception, they love Pikachu, they only began copying Pikachu after Pikachu started gaining popularity 20 years ago, they are much smaller and lighter than Porygon, they perform more actions that Porygon is capable of without programming, they are weakened by light and wear a sheet to protect themselves, seeing their true form causes illness or death, and Porygon is highly restricted outside of cyberspace.

Here’s my theory: In the Pokédex for sun/moon it says that mimikyu keeps its true identity hidden under their rags and when someone sees the terror under those rags that trainer ended up dying in shock. Also I’ve notice that porygon can’t change Into different colors and mimikyu does seem to appear black and we have forgotten another Pokémon that can turn into anything and anyone a ditto but I think mimikyu is it own Pokémon that hides their true selves forever. one thing tho, seeing mimikyu kills you, when a player manages to life the costume of mimikyu by changing the game files the player will die, also its told that humans die when they see mimikyus real form and even meowth from team rocket got into a coma when trying to look at mimikyu, even tho he hadnt seen mimikyu yet and only his shadow coming from beneath his costume. but could porigon do something like that? or can he? so, the lore tells us that mimikyu is cursed, right? and he gained the curse because of all the negative emotions, becuase nobody ever liked him, everyone hates him. and well, that could be a reference to proygon. the pokemon who killed irl humans and got hundreds into the hospital. hated by everyone who died, nearly died or friends and family of those 2 groups. the hatred is what laid the curse upon porygon, endulfing it in a shadow, and anyone who sees the shadow will die. but porygon was good, it wanted to help humans, so it disguised himself as pikachu. and the reason he chose pikachu was because pikachu was the actual killer of those irl humans, but porygon got the blame. and the part where they say that mimikyu is jealous of pikachu is because pikachu gained popularity even tho he killed irl humans but porygon got blamed for killing them. he wanted to feel like the one who did good and not this injustice. he wanted to be loved and helped humans but instead pikachu took that from him and gave him hate instead of love. or maybe they dont die from the curse but because its porygon. the deaths were children and children only right? the pokedex entry tells us that a kid died while watching mimikyu right? is it true? remco moerland I don't understand how seeing red and blue lights flashing rapidly could make anyone go insane enough to kill themselves when the episode is only 30 minutes long with commercials, and the flashing lights were not quite the whole episode even though they were a big part of it. Since I don't know the full possible effects an epileptic seizure can cause I won't argue the vomiting blood thing -though that sounds kinda odd to me if it wasn't accompanied by seizures because I would associate vomiting blood with some form of internal organ damage. I know that episode caused lots of headaches and epileptic seizures in children, and it was because of that that the episode was banned from ever being shown again. That also caused all future attacks that had flashing effects to be toned down and older episodes were editted to prevent it from ever happening again.

It was before epilepsy was a well known issue, even games from about 20 year's ago lacked warnings and because of the massive number of people who watch pokemon back in the 90s in japan it's a given that about 600 of those people just so happen to be epileptic. Seizure's severity usually is based on the person and can last from a few second to minute (about 3 usually) but any more than three minutes and you should call an ambulance, if the seizure continues it's very plausible for them to die from a number of different causes.

As I've been saying since mimikyu was announced, it's clefairy. The one that was originally slotted for pikachu's spot as the pokemon mascot. Mimikyu is a tribute to that now 20yrs dead (for clefairy) position with Ash. It's a jealous ghost fairy.....righteously angry with pikachu for usurping it's throne before it ever got the chance to enjoy it. It has mostly normal moves.....because clefairy was originally NORMAL.

I wonder if someone tried to use a remote controlled camera robot to remove the cloth and record the footage instead of trying to observe the Mimikyu without his costume directly? Another thing i found interesting is how you pet Mimikyu in Pokémon Refresh. His sweet spot is the red circles on the "cheeks" of the Pikachu custom. This is the area you can't pet on a real Pikachu. But it's interesting that it has any touch sensation on that part of the custom at all. It suggests that Mimikyu's body extends into the head of the custom or perhaps appendages like arms/legs extend into it. The fact that it can feel you pet it there at all is kinda disturbing.... :P

I have a theory. Maybe after Porygon got banned from the programme for good, he realized that being like Pikachu would never let him get the blame. When wiped from existence he was ressurected by MISSINGNO to have one last chance at winning fans over. This is MAJOR click bait. This is a bunch of guess work at best and absolutely opinionated coincidental irrelevant things at worse. However, I'll humor you. I'm going to go through each of your points: 1. At about 0:40 in the video you read the Pokemon's Pokedex description, plainly stating that what it is wearing is indeed a cloth, which disproves it somehow being some configured Porygon design. 2. At around 1:20 you start talking about the theory of SOMEONE ELSE, which you're stealing the idea for which is why everything you're saying sounds like second hand knowledge with absolutely nothing to back it up from your own material aside from random irrelevant things. I want to point out that if you really wanted to give the person credit, everything should have been outlined at the beginning as not your idea, as their idea and that everything afterwards, if not theirs was your own tack-ons to try to prove someone else right. 3. Also at 1:20-1:30 you talk about how Mimikyu and the 20 year thing. May I remind everyone that 20 years ago was when Pokemon got going? That was the reason for all the giveaways, for all the free Mystery Gift Pokemon for the older games before Sun and Moon came out. All it's referencing is the rise of popularity in Pokemon, which with Pikachu as its mascot (Which you even flipping mention!!) There's a big reason as to why it mimics it if it made such an impact on the community and future pokefans alike, which you flipping admit. 4. The Aether house which you mentioned; is a safe haven for Pokemon, I don't even have the game and five seconds of research makes everything click into place. It's a safe haven, Mimikyu is a seemingly sad Pokemon. I honestly find this to be a HUGE stretch to think Nintendo is trying to give us a connection between Porygon and Mimikyu especially given that it's NOT banned from the games, only the anime. The idea that Nintendo would be trying to point out their biggest oopsie from the anime doesn't even make any sense. Hell Nintendo doesn't even own controlling interest in the Pokemon Company, Game freak and Creatures do. Last I heard it only held 32% of voting power. If we want to throw wild theories, let's ask why someone has an Elekid in the same building, some kid has it. Yellow, black, almost like a Pikachu but isn't? Could that Mimikyu be actually owned by that trainer, who seems to like electric Pokemon but caught Mimikyu by mistake and it feels abandoned and saddened by the fact that it can't do what the trainer desires?! Wow so easy to make up complete and utter coincidences to suit my needs. Maybe that's what Nintendo was hinting at huh-huh? By Nintendo I mean Game freak just as a FYI. 5. You start talking about the moves. Yes, Mimikyu has a lot of normals moves, guess who else has a lot of Normal moves? Pikachu?! Why yes, yes it does. Oh and look, it has "Double team" that sounds like a Pikachu move doesn't it???? What's this, it also has Copy-cat, which suits it for being a mimicing Pokemon! Holy shit the coincidences don't end there though~! It also can literally learn Mimic as well~!!!!! Man oh man. We're onto something spicy, it's almost like normal type pokemon have a lot of copy cat moves. Let's look at the other ones. Splash attack, seems legit that a Porygon would know that, right? Or Scratch, or Slash? Man it sounds like it uses its claws a lot, just like a Porygon? Oh wait Porygon has never exhibited that it has Claws. 6. You didn't talk about this because it didn't actually support anything you're saying, so clearly you left it out. If Mimikyu is indeed Porygon for whatever fucking reason, then why isn't it the same egg group as Porygon, hell why is it the same egg group as GHOST type Pokemon, could it possibly be that it's a GHOST type? And not a normal type despite it's moves?? Magikarp is a fish, that's a water type in-case you couldn't guess, and it has what, primarily normal moves, with the special event one having Dragon Rage, and then the ability to teach it bounce now, that just puts it all over the place. However it's still a water Pokemon, it's not secretly some Normal type fish that doesn't exist. 7. Where's the sources of people online noticing something weird about Jessie's words, please show me where these people are so I can tell them, and yourself how ignorant you all are. Team Rocket, shocker here; was after Pikachu, which makes sense even without context. If you hear Team Rocket say "We're going to get your _____" 9/10 chances it's going to be Pikachu, along with every other occasion, this one is no different, They mistook Mimikyu for Pikachu, which is kind of the point.

Let's see... Attacks: Porygon can't learn a single fairy type attack. Or fighting type attack. The Pokémon itself: Looking at the stats we see, that Mimikyu is way faster. How can a cloth make you faster. How can a single coth change your whole typing, your stats and the attacks you can learn? How the heck can Porygon loose so much weight? Mimikyu doesn't even weigh half of Porygons weight. Mimikyu can't evolve. But since there are a lot of humans out there, anyone would have tried to evolve this little thing. True. You may know this already, but Mimikyu is his own special type and even in the anime, the reason he hides his face and body is because he can kill people when they look at them. His story was something similar to this: A boy wanted a pikachu, asked his mom to help him find one, they found Mimikyu and he fell in love with the cutie. One day at night Mimikyu was asked by his own "Why do you wear that cover? Can you show me? You can trust me, I promise I won't abandon you!" And when Mimikyu took it off, his owner died from shock. Mimikyu hid himself again and started to cry, and his mother saw Mimikyu leaving and went to check on her son, only to see he was dead.

My theory (Mimikyu my favourite pokemon) - Mimikyu is a pokemon of its own, not any dead pokemon its just that it is afraid that people would never accept him the way he was, he knew that everyone loved pikachu, he was really jealous of that and so he got himself in a pikachu rag and never got it off. Pokedex says: Its actual appearance is unknown. A scholar who saw what was under its rag was overwhelmed by terror and died from the shock. I think this happened because he never came out of the rag cloth and never tried to accept himself, which turned him into a jealous, psychopathic monster. But the reason why he had to do all that was because he was really lonely and people were always terrified of even going near him which caused him to become something like so. I, on the otherhand love mimikyu as i think it is the most adorable and lonely pokemon which needs to be accepted, not as a monster but as any other loved pokemon.

Porygon's ability to transofrm comes from the *"Polygon"* Part of his name. Polygons are custom shapes, so that means Porygon can transfer into limitless ranges of shapes.

Actually there was a Darkrai in the movie "Rise of Darkrai" and a different one appeared in the episode "Sleepless in Pre-Battle!". And then there is the trainer Tobias who also had another Darkrai.

If you read what the sun Pokédex says it says there has only been on person who has seen what is under Mimikyu's cloth and died of shock from seeing it. You can't die from Porygon's appearance.

I might be inclined to agree with this theory if it didn't have one major drawback. It's been stated that Mimikyu's appearance under the cloth is terrifying enough to kill a grown man. Maybe I'm just numb, but Porygon doesn't look like it could do that, even if it tried... Also, I don't think it an decrease its total mass, 'cuz Mimikyu's eyes are where Porygon's "chest" is, and Porygon's feet would be sticking out.
