This video is so related to me: During so many years I also try to work as an artist...and failed several time becauseI didn´t put consistency Now I am, working hard on building my carreer. watching tutoriasl about art techniques and art history, improving my craft and creating my own language. It trakes time and it´s difficult but this is really what I want. So yes take your time and remain focus and you will see the benefits faster than you think. This is my case. Thank you for sharing this video

Many artists I have watched have found social media very negative and time consuming and so many have quit. The one thing that deflates me the most is AI. It has infiltrated everything. There are people who are making so much money by selling picture books that have been completely illustrated by AI. Your videos are incredibly inspiring and I intend to keep going on.

picture books illustrated by AI?? that sucks :(

Very nice advice. It’s easy to get overwhelmed and misdirected, especially when everyone else seems to be doing so much better. Comparison is your enemy and trying to succeed following someone else’s cookie cutter blueprints is a straight way to frustration and failure.

Everything you said in this video, Mimi, is super valuable to me and came right when I needed to refresh my mind on my approach to my little art business. I have trouble with social media and connecting to people and I can't not think that maybe I need to work more on my skills and the message of my art. I know it's just food illustration mostly, and my message might not be quite "in your face", but I feel like being on social media has made me shift my focus in the wrong direction for me. I put so much effort into all that being on social media entails, these platforms have that talent of keeping you busy without accomplishing much, and I forgot to make art that conveys a certain emotion or atmosphere. I am proud of my products and my work, but I feel like I need to make a priority shift. You gave me much to think about and I am grateful for it ^_^

Your videos have been so helpful and inspiring!! Honestly, I love how transparent you are because a lot of art channels can make it seem too perfect and how easy it is to make all this money, but there’s going to be fails, there’s going to be a long journey and a lot of trying along the way. It’s something I have to remind myself as this isn’t something we can’t rush!

Your videos are so inspirational and helpful! Honestly my problem I've been having is consistency due to working a full-time job. After an hour commute (30 minutes there, 30 to 45 minutes back at the end of the 8 hour workday) I'm just so exhausted and worn out it's difficult being consistent with my art and beginning art business.

I have always wanted to make stickers because I personally love them & I would love to be able to make something that brings other people joy the way it does me. But you make a perfect point. It takes time! Thanks for this video! 😊

Thanks again Mimi! Not only was I much more focused in how I could provide value than on the feeling I'd like to evoke, but that makes me be more aware of what I feel when I watch other creators' videos. I watch your videos because they make me feel optimistic. Of course, the rational explanation is the value you provide with the tips and financial/life reality, but that would mean nothing if I didn't feel optimistic about my path when watching your videos. So I'll be more intentional the next time I feel like my path is daunting and come back to your videos!

This video was so good for me. I'm in year 2 of being a professional artist and I'm still finding it so hard to build an audience. It helped me remember that it's a marathon, not a race. The analogy about a uni course was especially helpful! Would you ever consider a mentorship?

Hi Mimi, I am going to take your course. You really inspire me. I have a question. As an artist I do not have a niche. I camouflage between different types of illustrations: I do children illustrations and fashion and jewelry rendering- I don’t know how to link all these three illustration types. Can you please advice?

I'm going to start working towards being an independent artist. I know it's going to take a lot of time, effort and consistency. I know that I will need to network a lot. I need to work more on my content and to get more engagement. I'll take your advice. I need to see what value my work would have for others . I'll work really hard against my own self doubt. I trust that I can do something that others would love. I know that I will not earn much at first. But I'll do my best so I can do this as my job.

I will do realistic goal. 1. Focus on shorts than the video. I just hit 8.8k views! 2. The video must more than 1 min and less than 3mins is enough. 3. post once a week. I remember posting twice,it hurts my views. Continuing this tactic I reach 500 subs last week. Maybe I can reach 1k subs this year I hope.

Here in America you have to work a full-time job and more just to survive! On top of that you get to start from scratch and have to juggle jobs and artwork. There’s a miserly and terrible safety net in the USA to set up any business! America is hostile towards low income and poor people. I love your work and you’re lucky to not be in miserable America. I wished I could just do artwork full time and not deal with crappy jobs added on top. I’m guessing this will be a hobby for now and maybe I’ll get lucky with something, sometime, somewhere?
