Honestly, Minato is the only character in the Naruto universe that doesn't use some sorta crazy plot armor or inexplainable power. He's the definition of true talent. Not some crazy genetics like sharingan, hashirama cells, crazy chakra reserves, etc. He's just really good at being a ninja and that's it.

What a phenomenal fight scene. Short and simple, but that's exactly what makes it great. We get to see how he process and breaks down the situation. That's a basic trope to explain the mechanism behind power/abilities in almost all anime. We always get to see characters thinking or talking during fights scenes. But what sets this apart is how it was written. It's straighforward and precise. Exactly how we see Minato as a character, and one of the traits on why he's almost anyone's favorite. He was in a hurry, and we felt that urgency all through out. But the way he was thinking of dealing with the situation was calm and collected contrasting to the chaos of what's around him. We get to see his thought process and from it, he excecuted a perfect attack without wasting a second. Not an overbearing flaunt of power. Just a pure display of technical prowess. 👏

If you remove the thinking part and the slow downs, It's insane to think about how fast everything goes down. Minato goes through Obito once, immediately analyzes and understands Obito's technique, then throws the Kunai and goes for the counter which also sets up the seal removal from the ninetails. In in-universe time all this happens in like 20-25 seconds or so. Truly the yellow flash of Konoha

Another overlooked aspect of this fight is that Minato and Obito both made adjustments when they charged at each other again. Instead of using chains to wrap Minato up, Obito tried to stonewall Minato and stop his movement by grabbing his shoulder instead. And of course Minato instead threw the kunai so he could teleport over Obito with it when Obito became tangible. It was a high speed, high thinking, tactical chess match. Minato and Obito both showed a level of IQ but Minato's was much better here.

I see why the writer had to have him killed. I truly believe with him around there wouldn’t be a show. He would’ve stopped the Coup of the Uchiha(with Itachi & shisui on his side) without killing the entire clan, and it would’ve also kept Itachi from leaving. Uchiha Itachi You do realize in his prime Hiruzen was stated to be more powerful than Hashirama and Tobirama, Dude learned all 10,000 Jutsus, created the Legendary Sanin, and fought in the 3 great ninja wars. Definitely deserved it especially since Tobirama personally and specifically chose him.
