Great video. I got a 2023 Model X long range one month ago. I chose the yoke over the wheel and like it a lot. I have quickly gotten used to the missing stalks after having them in a 3 and Y. I would miss the shift stalk less if Tesla refined the auto gear select more. After you back out of a garage or parking space and stop, it should choose drive automatically. My favorite upgrades are the air suspension, falcon wing doors, and sound system. Because I got the car at the end of the quarter, Tesla included three years of free supercharging and three months of FSD. The FSD is not yet fully functional because of hardware 4, but the navigate on autopilot and lane change features are smooth and terrific. Like you I didn't miss a driver's screen in the 3 and Y, but I am liking it in the X. It leaves a lot more room on the center screen for the map and music. The X creates a lot more heat in the garage than either the 3 or Y, which tells me the car is wasting power when it charges. Not cool in the summer, but maybe I will like it in the Chicago winter. Your video was smart, to the point, and didn't waste my time with unnecessary information. I liked it.

Two weeks ago we traded in our 2021 Model Y for a 2023 Model X and it took no time at all to get used to the yoke. I don't miss the stalks at all and love having everything on the touch screen. My only complaint is that the instrument panel shows the cars in front and on the side of you but not behind you.

Why not have both? The white interior with the carbon fiber is gorgeous. Also, there is no Tesla smile in the plaid...it's something else entirely. I have yet to have someone get out of mine that aren't giggling like little school girls.

0:44 the reasoning is simple: it looks better, you can see the binnacle screen clearly with no obstruction, and it feels REALLY good driving with it. I own a new Model S and I *love* the yoke. I have a Model 3 as well and it annoys me to drive it with a wheel now. I also hate the stalks. I love the way the yoke controls work. I promise, after owning one for a week you'll love it just like you do the yoke for controlling steering.

I do love mine. I just got it back from Tesla Service, had to have helper spring replaced on left falcon wing door (broke on delivery day) and get paint fixed. Got to drive while they were waiting on the part. I wish it did have the turn signal stalk. I don't like how I can't easily get to the signal buttons while in a turn. Often times there will be a turn coming out of a corner type situation. Also wish the screen tilt preference would sync with driver profile. Honestly our biggest gripe was with the lack of total detailing when we took delivery (looked like it had been in a hay field with the doors open) and when we picked it up from repairs last night the outside was filthy. Nonetheless ... still love it. 😊

After months of driving my Model X Plaid I can say the only thing with the Yoke is signaling after you've turned it 180 degrees. My thumb loses orientation.......then again, it seems no one in our city signals their turns anyway. I advise anyone with an X to note that the falcon wings don't always go all the way up, meaning heads can be bumped. When you know there is nothing for the doors to hit, hold the inside passenger button down...you hear a beep then the door will go the rest of the way up. I have a few things I also don't like also, but all the smiles make it worth having. Loved the video. Thx

Couldn’t agree more , that instrument cluster issue is not at all a big deal. Same amount of work for me to look to the side to see my speed which is basically all you’re looking at for the “instrument cluster.” Also the key fob and hard card is pretty useless when you have the Tesla app on your phone. that’s basically how you’ll be getting in and out and controlling everything (all without lifting a finger most often the time ) . The key fob can’t control the climate or precondition Or view your live cameras or summon the car , you need the app for that. Can’t wait for ur review of the cyber truck 🛻!

Ok, I’m only 2:07 into this video and felt compelled to pause it at the statement about the side mirrors and cameras. I’m not. Tesla owner, but in doing my research on the Y because I’m considering getting one, I’ve rent two Y’s so far and have another rental scheduled for pickup next Thursday. All rentals are through Turo. On my last rental, when returning home, a four hour drive, at 3:30 in the morning on a country back road through the mountains, I was using auto pilot. I encountered a fog bank that lasted for quite a few miles. While I’m the fog bank I started getting intermittent messages on the screen informing me that “The left fender camera is blocked or not working”, then I’d get “Multiple cameras are blocked or not working”. These intermittent messages lasted for quite a few miles. With that type of issue happening, I’m totally in approval of the regulators not letting Musk eliminate mirrors for cameras, YET. I’m not an engineer, but I’m of the impression the fog was the cause of the error messages, and can only imagine someone driving a Tesla, relying on the cameras as their side mirrors, changing lanes and the camera goes out. Yes, I know we all should physically look as well, but we should do a lot of things, and well, people…

I had a 2021 Model S LR, and there is a reason for the yoke; it’s simply offers better viewing of the binnacle. I sold it to a friend after buying a 2022 Model Y LR. Both cars were great road trip cars. I prefer the Model Y because I sit up higher, it’s easier to maneuver, and yes, I prefer the wheel and stalks! And I’m fully aware they will be eventually eliminated.

The stalks reeeeally F up the look of the dash. I initially wanted stalks as well, then I began noticing just how out of place stalks look in cars. They look like antennas. Love the simplicity in the refresh S and X now. The 2nd row seats are the single biggest disappointment. I came from a top level trim Kia Carnival. Ventilated and heated captains chairs, ottoman, arm rest, full recline, and napa leather. It is awfully uncomfortable sitting in the 2nd row of the X.

Oddly enough, having had my Model X Plaid for 7 months, everytime I rent a Model 3 or Y from Hertz, I have the opposite opinion, stocks are really annoying, and I miss my instrument cluster. Cluster: Driving a Model 3 or Y to me feels like driving a vehicle with less features that I'm used to, to me. Maybe it's just what I'm used to. But the information that's on the instrument cluster on a Model X, is shoved into a thin space on the small screen on a 3 and Y. Not sure why you would ever want that. The Model X is the more advanced version of all of Teslas vehicles, to me, there's a bunch of stuff that's not even available on the 3 and Y, that I was surprised by: automatic door open/close, auto heated steering wheel, video games, etc. Chairs: I haven't met a person that loved sitting in the Captain's chairs, the arm rest is the only complaint I've heard. Rear View Mirror: If you put the third row seats down, it greatly improves visibility. I don't often need to drive 6 people, so mine stay down 95% of the time. I originally ordered a 7 seater, but they eliminated that build. Keycard: the model x comes with two key cards and two fobs, but most of the time, I use one of my phones to unlock and drive the car. Only time I use a key card is for backup. You only have to tap it and drive. It sits on the outside of my wallet, so I tap it, then put my wallet back in my pocket. I've never lost anything slipping through the door retraction. Also, you don't have the doors set to max height, they will go up further, making access even easier then where you have them in this video.

I don't understand the point of the Plaid EV's that Tesla has done? Why does anyone sensible need to have a SUV EV act like a F1 car? The SUV EV is meant to be a load carrying family friendly transporter Not a race car. you wish to race then get a Race car and go on a race track and race not do it on the public roads. That's when other people can pay for your race mind set. Because once you start racing around there you will soon or later loose control no matter your skill and hit someone else and either badly hurt them or kill them. EV's or normal ICE cars are meant to be personnel transporters safely doing that role not race cars.
