I can't stay up till 10. I go to bed at 8:30 every night and get up between 3 and 4. Same on week ends. I always have. I always fall asleep within 5 min. I have tried to stretch it out an hour or so but always fall back to 8:30. At 78 and healthy, no meds and seldom get sick, it looks like I am stuck with it.

It's amazing how many different views there are about how much time it takes to trigger autophagy. She says 4 days water fast at least. Then the other man you interviewed says different. I'd like to see some studies on people on a true ketogenic diet and practicing intermittent fasting and some extended fasts and see some scientific studies on when autophagy occurs. So many different opinions...

Take a look at this video: Autophagy 101 - Everything You Need to Know - with Dr. William Dunn. Here he says that autophagy kicks when amino acid level is low. And, he's studying it for a 30 years, so I think he is right. It's kicked after 12 hours or so. Amino acids turn it on and off

Hi Neva. Thank you for watching! The Fasting Mimicking Diet™ is a low-calorie, low-protein, low-carbohydrate, high-fat, 5-day plant-based meal plan that tricks your body into thinking it is fasting so that it may enter a cellular protection and regeneration mode while still receiving all of the essential nutrients. ~ Naomi

I started taking some of your supplements and tried to eat within 12-5pm. But I got to a point where my Brain was like where is the sugar where is the sugar. I tricked it my eating a yummy crisp pear and a juicy sweet grapefruit. Literally the best fruit I’ve tasted in months. But I took a small hour nap at 6pm and when I woke up I was immediately like where’s the sweet sugar stuff. I immediately when to the pantry and ate that blue berry muffin. And I felt so good after. 😭😭. I tried. Gonna keep trying bc I know it’s all the sugar that I eat and drink all day that it not letting my body lose weight. So frustrating. The yo-yo-ing.

How do we address these issues for shift workers? I am a nurse. I work 12 hours overnight 8p-8a. 4 nights a week. I have been doing the keto diet since February and I have done some intermittent fasting and also a 5 fast. 3 questions: do I just need to get out of this shift or is there way to adjust circadian rhythm? And also how often can we do that longer fast? And how long do the benefits last?
@niceadz61644 жыл бұрын
I read somewhere that Shift work is basically a Class II carcinogen. It is not natural unfortunately. My advice, would be to try and ground yourself.as often as possible or change rota. (but I know nothing, all my info comes from vids like these)

Hi Naomi - Dr. Gersh said that atophagy wouldn't happen until day 4 (or after day 4) of fasting. I think that is a longer length of time than what I've heard you and some of your other guests suggest as a time frame for atophagy. Maybe it is unique to each individual, but if my OMAD days, or my 48 hour fasts, aren't making a difference (except to lose weight) then what am I doing them for?? Anyone else have this question/concern?
@YarelySilvas2 жыл бұрын
People who exercise look younger and look healthy no matter what age. The answer is not fasting it’s exercise and healthy eating. But please don’t get discouraged continue fasting a couple days in a week your going to want those other benefits. ESPECIALLY spiritual fasting. My little secret for fat loss: 10,000 steps to 15,000 steps a day on an empty belly, very early in the morning.

That was an amazing interview. Very informative. I’ve been doing a 36 Hour Dry fast every week. My question is, if I’m not drinking water during fasting will that improve the benefits of fasting?
@naomiwhittel5 жыл бұрын
Thank you Edward! So glad you enjoyed the interview! First, we always recommend speaking with your doctor before proceeding with any sort of fasting regime. But, in general, no, avoiding water during a fast is not going to improve the benefits, in fact, it could create some risks related to dehydration. It is important to drink enough water during a fast and use salt or electrolytes as needed to maintain hydration. Every cell of the body requires water for function. Mild dehydration could cause symptoms such as headache, fatigue, dizziness and more severe dehydration can affect heart rate, blood pressure and even consciousness. ~ Naomi's Coaching Team

keto is in no way equivalent or equal to actual fasting. Is she deliberately avoiding to speak about what foods you actually consume in a keto diet? You actually believe that liver likes high fat foods and your kidneys and colon love high protein diets? Keto diet is 180 degrees opposite to human physiology.
