I have come to know about Dr Satchin from a few interviews by Dr Rhonda Patrick about 4 years ago. I realised she was an absolute fan of him and his research. His knowledge is immense (backed by his own research). And the nuggets of humours he innocently sneaks into his talks is absolute gold!! 🙂🙂

actually, it is more because there is less digestion activity that people who lessen their caloric intake feel the benefit. any reduction in digestion activity: chewing the food well before swallowing, eating slowly, not drinking water during eating (meals), eating fewer times in a day, eating within a smaller window (time restricted eating), mindful and having joy while eating, eating during daylight time, really helps. the chinese has a 3000 year old adage: the length of life is inversely proportional to the length of girth. let us learn to eat like gourmets, not gourmands ^_^, savoring every bite and we need less to be satisfied.

Informative lecture, bur didn’t quite catch what you said about when to begin clock if you have pre-diabetes and heart risk...is an 0800 start or 1100am start better? Thanks :-)
@ldean8360
@ldean8360 5 жыл бұрын
He said that an early start is best for heart disease or pre diabetes. I have had reversal of my pre diabetes with a later window (noon to 8pm) but I'm on a nearly ketogenic diet. A ketogenic diet mimics fasting by keeping insulin low even when you eat - so do I actually mimic a very small eating window?? I do "carb up" occasionally but for me a high carb day is still under 200g of net carbs. I used to be a carb addict. It was destroying my life. You could put me in a warehouse full of Oreos , EL Fudge and Cinnamon Grahams now and I wouldn't touch them. I know that meal timing is important, but food quality is critical as well.

I’m on week 5 of TRE, but getting intense acid reflux in the middle of the night (even though I stop eating at 6pm and go to bed at 10 etc) The only things that help are sugarless gum and mint tea. These have about 3 calories. Have I ruined the progress I’ve made so far?

Stop eating at 5 pm instead of 6. Only water or clear/unsweetened herbal teas (non-caffeinated) after that. Quit eating any dairy and reduce your fat/meat intake. Elevate the head of your bed.

2:55 the rotation of the earth on its axis that produces day and night have been from the beginning of its existence. all living things did not not to evolve to adapt to it. they were created to be able to deal with the change of light to darkness. every living thing had circadian rhythm built in its life processes.

chronic diseases plaguing the elderly are not really signs of aging because they are now being experienced by much younger population even as early as in childhood. diseases are symptoms of improper care if not abuse of our life (mind, body and spirit).

I am virtually sleepless. Nothing/no one can help me. My doctors have no clue. My body follows no normal rhythm. My brain forces me to be awake so I get maybe 3 hours sleep a day. I can be awake all night, and just have an hour or so nap 2-3 times in 24 hours. I am healthy so far at 67. I am not happy bec my husband has a normal rhythm. I am often very depressed. I may be abnormal, but I can not sleep like other people. My body wakes right up when i try to sleep.

I know this is a old post but Ive just seen a 2017 video of the winner of the Nobel Prize for Circadian Rhythm. He talks how he was able to find the gene that's the actually circadian rhythm and how each organ has one. But this gene is just a composition of proteins. They were able to manipulate those proteins and saw how their subjects (bugs, fly, firefly, etc) once taken this specific protein out of them (surgery) they would become sleepless. They are able to reinsert it back (dinar subject) and they're Circadian Rhythm went back to normal.

I drink black coffee during my fasting window, but after my morning workout. I do not feel that black coffee "opens" my feeding window. My coffee window is 9am to 3pm. My eating window is noon to 8pm, but I try to be done eating as close to 7pm as possible and I don't always eat lunch in which case my eating window is dinner. I have noticed that when I eat only dinner I cannot eat too much or too late or I'll sleep poorly. If I eat only lunch and skip dinner I can literally pig out with no ill results. I normally eat a ketogenic (or close to it) diet.

caffeine is xenobiotic, therefore coffee has caffeine and is xenobiotic. Even decaf coffee is made of elements that require metabolic process and it is not totally caffeine free. Tea as well is has polyphenols which require metabolic process. Anything but water. The liver has to work to metabolize anything but water.
