This is one amazing build. Hate to say it but screw those people saying illegal building techniques. In my world if it fits then it works. You are so creative and this building is another example of it.

You should make an open window with JJJ sticking out of it yelling and have spiderman swinging (using white pieces to connect him to the building with his hand) across the window

The Flatiron is probably my most favorite building in NYC. Such a beautiful peace of architecture and engineering. It's a pleasure seeing this wonder in Lego form. This is what Lego is all about!

Thank you Daryl! When I was in 7th grade I had a science project to design a model of a building. I wanted to make a LEGO Flatiron, but when I designed and parted it out on the family computer, it was a bit too pricey for my paper route income. Had to settle for making my flatiron model out of foam core instead. It still turned out great, but it would have been amazing to have been lego. This is close to what 12 year old me pictured in my mind, but 5x the size and detail. Thank you for this bit of nostalgia.

It is a triangle, a right triangle. One corner is 90°. I believe you were referring to is an Isosceles triangle. Which has 2 equal sides. An Equilateral triangle has 3 equal sides.
@BevinsBricksWorld19 күн бұрын
Yes one corner is 90 degrees

About the "illegal building techniques" controversy: The way almost everyone uses that phrase, it's not a matter of opinion. It's a statement about whether the technique is allowable in official Lego sets according to Lego's rules. (And this technique would be allowed.) The wording in the presentation that talked about this publicly says "You can connect a single stud into a single Technic hole and a child can still take them apart. Any more than that and the resistance becomes too great and there is the potential for elements (and children) being stressed." The example that you're holding in your hands is entirely made of "single stud into a single Technic hole" construction, and thus would be entirely allowable in official Lego sets. Which is to say, it's "legal", and that is not a matter of opinion. What is a matter of opinion is whether it's "okay" in a MOC to use techniques that wouldn't be allowed in an official set -- particularly if those techniques are ones that cause excess stress to the bricks. But this one doesn't, so that's not relevant here.

Fun Facts: The design of The Flat Iron Building is based on the Pythagorean Triangle, that is the 47th Theorem of Pythagoras, but you're probably more familiar with its mathematical equation, A2 + B2 = C2. The Pythagorean triangle is a highly revered symbol in Freemasonry. The Flat Iron's design is literally a secret society leaving it's signature on a prominent iconic landmark, like it does on so many other prominent iconic monuments, landmarks, and buildings throughout the world.
