The scooby-doo speed had me cracking up. Great video Daryl, city is looking awesome! Friendly tip for anyone out there that wants to do their own stickers: For software, you can use Inkscape. It's free and provides a ton of features. It also uses vector art methods so the art can be scaled up or down infinitely. For the actual stickers, you can print them out on regular paper, cover over them with clear packing tape, cut them out and finally use a washable glue stick to create the "adhesive" and apply them.

For the turntable I install the top on the bottom of water tower in your case and the bottom plate separately on the supports only having to align a pin instead of 4 studs for each support is faster, easier, and I don't have to worry about accidentally misaligning the studs. I burn through so many turntables on my mocs that it is second nature to separate the two pieces now.
@tfte-b7c3 ай бұрын
Oh that's smart. I hate aligning turntables under large builds. Thanks

Love the watertower, seeing the city name displayed proudly up there makes me think of something I'm usre you've already thought of adding, a little sign or two at either end of the city that people would see as they arrive with the city's name and the population (at least the approx population) upon it.

Already have that made and installed on the front road entrance ;) I should probably do it on the ends also though.

I love your videos, man! You don't waste any time and show us so many awesome techniques. I'm in limbo with my city at the moment as we're moving - but once we get settled I'm building a new Lego city from the ground up and want to integrate tons of your lighting products. I ended up getting to impatient to wait for the Avenger's tower and daily bugle kits, i'm afraid. But I think i'm almost ready to just do my own kits from scratch with your parts. I just need to win the lottery now :P

I like the 8x16 half road plates better than the full square road plates for my roads because I can easily add the yellow striping in between while still having the option for the white stripes on the sides. Looks so much better than Lego official white short stripes. My roads are wider but that isn't a concern for me as I hate how the ultra wide sidewalk looks in so many people's cities.
@no_drama_wanted_here3 ай бұрын
This idea is totally getting borrowed
@BevinsBricks2 ай бұрын
I use to typically do brick built roads only as like you, they look so much more realistic. I started using the official roads just to show people its possible and I still have white edge lines as well. The 8x16 is a much better way to build the roads, but I got well over 200 of these 16x16 so trying tp put them to good use 😀

Looks great. Do you ever consider using Lego alternatives for large quantity part projects (like the wheat field) or do you like to keep the actual Lego as pure as possible, or is it more convenient to get it from Lego themselves?
@BevinsBricks2 ай бұрын
I typically use all official parts, but here recently I have started using alt parts as yes some are cheaper and just as good quality. When I use offbrand of which I sell some custom stuff on my website also, like ballast train plates and also cutom printed parts, I prefer to use offbrand as they are cheaper to source. When I do use offbrand I get most from webrick.
