A Theory I’ve heard is the Time Eater is a fragment of Mephilis they share the same color palette both have time based abilities and due to Solaris being a literal diety it could be possible Mephilis who was a part of Solaris reincarnated as the Time Eater

Some of us are disappointed that Mephiles isn't the main villain but the truth is when Elise blew the fire out at the very end of Sonic the Hedgehog 2006, it erased him and Iblis from existence. He is an illusion like the rest of the past boss fights, the real Mephiles is gone forever. Some of us knew that after Black Doom was defeated in Shadow the Hedgehog, he was still alive. It's hard to believe that he doesn't come to strike again until 20 years later

They exist in a second temporal axis along with iblis and crisis city. (We know that non-existent things exist within white space. Time eater pulls it there after he consumes it, sonic has to get it moving again.) Time eater can pull from anything that *is* *has* or *will* exist. He controls space time.

it would be incredibly awesome if they redid the cutscenes for base generations and added ones similar to the chemical plant one for other zones but its a fleeting dream. it would just be so nice to see some proper choreography and drama instead of stand and chat about nothing. good thing shadow generations has all the choreography and drama, it really is two games in one package

Hot take: they could bring Infinite on this game and since the bosses are on a mix of different time and space of their Original bosses were, i wish they somehow change infinite destiny on the game, re-writing him and making like a paradox where the infinite still dies in forces, but the one gens is saved from that future and now we have infinite who is kinda Loki from the Loki series, i think that would be cool and a great way to reintroduce the character back in the Sonic Series.

Might be a stretch but do you think they'll use this as a springboard to bring Mephiles back into more mainline games? Coming from a lore perspective Mephiles seems like the kind of character who would be self-aware of the whole time travel concept that surrounds Generations story, and he would exploit that to bring himself into the present day to revert his defeat. Maybe Mephiles hijacks the main plot and he becomes the main villain of the story!......Or it's just a neat boss fight...

One thing that disappoints me a bit is how I can already feel the base Sonic Generations being completely unchanged when it could have been much more but they only focused on Shadow, which I like, but then it feels like it's a Shadow game they couldn't release on it's own because of Shadow the Hedgehog (2005). Sonic Generations could actually use some of the new things added by Shadow Generations where Elise and Chip could show up. We could have an encounter with Jet, Wave and Storm and find more classic characters like Mighty, Ray, Fang and bring in classic Amy and Knuckles for the sake of feeling full. But then they could do what they failed at doing in Sonic Generations 3DS and actually have the Handheld games represented well.

I get the disappointment, but they stated upfront that base generations would be basically unchanged. The time for Generations DLC has long since passed, so it's better that they leave that experience alone rather than mess it up considering I don't think enough of that original team is even at Sega anymore.

To be fair, them getting Dan Green back to voice Mephiles is less of a matter of popularity or money and more of IF he's willing to do it. Keep in mind, the reason Dan Green stepped away from the limelight is because his wife died during childbirth back in 2011, so he's spent the last 13 years mainly being a single father to his two kids. Working on relatively smaller roles and script adaptations mostly. Mike Pollock I think even helped start a charity to help him out financially. Its not impossible tho ,as he came back to play Yugi in the DSOD movie, so him reprising one of his few major villain roles isn't out of the question. Especially if Sega put enough zeroes on the check lol

"Black Bull" I do think that's Black Bull, but looking at the original Black Bull it looks VERY different. That said, we can barely see it, and now, it does appear that its body is quite a bit fatter than I originally saw. Black Bull was basically a massive one-eyed bat, really didn't fit the name "Black Bull" at all. This one looks more like a dragon, but Black Bull is the closest we have to this. My assumption is it is in fact a redesigned Black Bull, and its probably the "Shadow the Hedgehog" boss battle. I don't think Devil Doom will actually be the final boss, in all honesty. I think it'll be a brand new form Black Doom takes. Given the circumstances, though, I am suspecting we do have one boss battle per stage, plus the final boss. We're now up to four boss battles. Two bosses are sentient (Metal Overlord, Mephiles), and two are not (Biolizard, Black Bull). Its probably just a coincidence more than anything, but perhaps we'll get a Titan boss from Frontiers and Infinite from Forces. I doubt they'll show off the final boss before launch.

"how can it be shorter" Base Generations had 9 stages, two acts each, with 6 boss battles and the final boss. This has 6 stages (MAYBE there's a seventh stage we haven't seen yet; or maybe we have Radical Highway and Westopolis as two separate stages, there's LOTS of similar city stages), and so far one boss each. Based on what we've seen, it probably is shorter, but not THAT shorter. When they said "shorter than base Generations," I assumed SIGNIFICANTLY shorter. I highly doubt we have more than 7 stages here. One possibility is we have challenge zones similar to the ones from base Generations. That could be where a lot of the alternate scenes come from, and we don't actually have both Westopolis and Radical Highway as stages.

one thing I realized. I Don't think they are going to do this, but it would be mad if they do... SO... since Mephiles is back and crisis city is a stage and given how powerful he is and the fact that he can literally time travel.... What if we need to stop him from entering crisis city so he can't merge with Iblis!!!! I know they won't do it but seeing a potentially stronger and smarter Mephiles deal with sonic, and shadow's strongest new forms sounds insane to me. Because the end was able to knock sonic out his super from so the end is up there. Image a corrupted supersonic and a super doom powered shadow face off against him once again. I know sonic lost his new form at the end of final horizon, but I think they can give it back to him by explain that since the cyber energy was made from siphoned chaos energy maybe sonic can do the same thing due to his corruption lasting so long. like he knows how cyber energy works. Not only that but some of his combat in that game based on cyber energy like the Cyloop, which I really hope they keep since I think it really compliments his movement and style Sliver can have a sonic x sliver unleashed game where he helps chip in his time face Dark Gaia and maybe he can gain a new from or technique too and since chip is part of the earth maybe he knows sliver's parents and origin so we can get to know him better. I doubt they would give it that much set up, but I think they can get away with it with Mephiles unlike infinite where I can see him potentially going through a redemption arc, but I would be happy too if the keep him evil and explore the ruby more. maybe it's a part of the end that fell off while trapped in cyber space. The outline is there they just need to draw it out if they think it's worth telling
