Great, just what our society needs... a way to truly tap into our minds and co-opt our consiousness so corporations can ravge us even more than they do now, not to mention the hacking potential with horrendous outcomes.

The concept is age old. The most astounding thing is the execution, turning it into reality. I just recently got one as a control for a system a friend was developing thus me testing. Had not much knowledge about the neuro science area but was suprised by Emotiv's history. Mostly being an Aussie living overseas surprised to find world changing work coming from back home. Turning ancient dreams into reality, execution. Bravo.

It's highly designed not to let any EMF radiation into your skull. That's why it's wireless and powered by a low-power recharagable battery.

@@Roshkin Thats not how EMF and ELF work. ... But it doesn't matter, these people do whatever they want because theres nothing you can do about it, and this is way older than Tan Lee and Emotiv Systems.

has someone else notice that this video is from the end of 2008 and its been more than 2 years since she said that the device would be out in several months? when does it come out? i'd really want to see how new things would develop using such a multi-featured device.if anyone knows what stage of proces this is in, please say. and i absolutly think that this device can make progress to really cool stuff.working with that piece would provide almost endless options as a user interface

In the introduction she explained the program only registering pleasure displeasure or likes and dislikes. But in the demonstration she showed actual manipulation or control using thought which means she's far beyond what they originally created the device for. I can imagine how much more they've advanced this technology since this video. It's pretty exciting.

This is incredible, l have been researching mind manipulation technology for some time, this is a very marketable idea. Hopefully in the future we will start our cars with our minds and bring it to us, or have a conversation with someone over the web via our brains. The mind is the most powerful tool in our observable universe.

wow.. its all about improving the way can interface with things. So we can remove the barrier that exists between our intentions and the manipulation of the physical world around us. Like she said starting with video games, it will be the safer more user friendly more precise way of controlling things. machinery, cars, using your computer without your hands. If this tech is perfected, we have achieved new heights as a civilization in terms of the way we can effect our environment.

Imagine we recorded the pattern of all the actions we ever perform into something like that, then someone created a remote pattern detection system that reads what you're emitting and expresses it on a screen. Could someone then remote read your mind to a degree?

In th e "disappearing" sample, the user could be thinking about anything other than actually disappearing the cube in his mind. So you just register or sample the thinking pattern and then the software makes the cube disappearing when detecting that previous recorded pattern. Is that correct? i mean, thinking about rotating the cube is just an idea as well as disappearing the cube.

This is really cool tech and is something that could evolve and improve over time. Imagine playing counterstrike or something similar where your accuracy depends on how "in the zone" you are, or you can cloak yourself by visualising your character disappearing.

If you can accomplish this I believe you can do it without the headset and control lighting, the opening and closeing locking and unlocking of doors starting a car etc etc etc just by thinking about it. (can the oscilloscope differntiate nuisance current)

@andy7666 12 жыл бұрын
I've been talking about this for ages, its so good that a team have got together and made it a reality.. Eventually a headset won't be needed for applications like this, there will just be a constant external scan of the user (like a VERY high tech Kinect) that will show the brains behaviour and desired action.

@83leaf the problems is though that it doesn't really sense "thoughts" necessarily what it senses is an individuals brain waves at a certain time and then links them to a certain response on the screen. That is why each action must be programmed for each individual using the machine. Also this is only a receptor. It is reading your brain waves, it isn't sending a pulses or waves to your brain. It isn't a stimulus its a receptor.

Yes. What she is talking about Is called a Brain Computer Interface or Direct Neural Interface. And what you are asking for I suppose would be a device that provides sensory feedback in order to enrich augmented reality. So using a Direct Neural Interface you can codify a sensory response and have your nervous system pick it up, so you would feel the response.

Better that such technologies are brought to us through public forum where we can find ways to work with it (perhaps also against it if need be) and be informed as opposed to not knowing about it at all until someone with an ulterior motive comes along and uses it.

This isn't mind control. Its simply using a particular thought to basically press a button. You could tell him to imagine the block is turning and set the computer to make the block bounce instead and that's what would happen. True control would be having a thought and not programing the computer to respond to it that particular way but respond on it's own.

Their agent who could be anyone who is talking to you, the person can bring up a subject, for instance he would say “I went in front of the mirror & looked at myself. I hated myself since my body was so ugly" you who is listening to this immediately & subconsciously will think about what he is saying cuz that is how your brain operates, as soon as you do that the device he has in his pocket will pick that unique signal up, now they have that bad signal, they can send it to you back as they want.

@Consumerofknowledge the trouble with any new tech is: Can the device control us? The epoc device is, at best, a way of reading our mind's random electromagnetic field variations, this isn't like jacking into our minds. At best, the epoc tries to read electromagnetic field of our immediate desires, as much as I'd like to transfer my mind to an electronic medium, I suspec the idea is far away. The Epoc is merely a way of transcribing basic ideas into 1's or 0's, a far gap from brains

@Scatty2010 You are totally right. It doesn't need to be a mind control device because as long as "they" know about the way You (as an individual human being) think and feel about certain things, "they" already have a leverage over you with this device. Datamining anyone? Keeping in mind that your subconscious is already working on what you are planning to do in the future and has everything you've ever learned or felt storaged.
