Thanks. Maybe you would consider reinstating (and adding) some behaviour questions back into the app, to see where people are socialising, e.g. #members in a household, what setting they frequent, . Not just healthcare settings, but work, schools and places of worship. Schools are driving this, you just don't have the data. I never bet, but my friends and I would lay money on it.

Are sufficient older people using the Zoe app for your conclusion. I know some over 70s who happily use a computer but don't use any apps. Some use a smartphone as a phone only or they still use basic 2G phones because they keep the charge for a week or two. Fair comment, however, after seven months of statistical errors and propaganda it's incumbent on all of us to examine the facts behind the figures. Time to face up to things like the PCR test is not a diagnostic tool and so it's erroneous to call a positive result a case. Infection and infectious are different. Examine the number of deaths in your area. Have people died with or from, how old were they, other illnesses, already terminally ill? Can't ignore this stuff. Remember too that covid19 is 24th on the list of deadly diseases in the UK. As such is it worth all of this upheaval and destruction. I'm not picking on you just inviting you to think more for yourself, find stuff out for yourself beyond the BBC and even helpful this channel. Spread the awareness. It's the only way we'll stop the madness. Can't control a virus.

I have heard on the radio and seen the headlines that hospitals in Liverpool and Manchester are not faring well; that infections are rising everywhere and that the tier system of restrictions isn't working even though the north have been under restrictions for months. According to your app infections in the London borough where I live increases every single day, the same in the borough where are work. There is no good news from where I'm looking. 😕

Nor from my vantage point here, sandwiched between Liverpool and Manchester. The Nightingale Hospital opens next week and Liverpool Hospitals have confirmed that they have more COVID patients than at first peak. 😢

@@johnedwards3446 infections going down isn’t the same as hospital admissions though is it, due to the obvious lag between the two. When I wrote the above comment 6 days ago, the Liverpool hospitals had confirmed treating more Covid patients than at the peak. I’ve also heard alarming reports from local hospital A&E consultants, so direct from the “horses mouth” with no agenda.

Tim, thank you for another update, which I have actually come and listened to on KZbin for the first time having just watched them through the app so far. I have been reporting (more or less) daily since March, when I did have "interesting" symptoms to report, although whether they were of Covid-19 I don't and may never know. If I understand this correctly there is a gap between the number of new cases that you are estimating from the symptoms and the government numbers derived from testing. Do you think that this is evidence that the PCR test is producing a significant number of false positives? I would also be interested to hear how accurately your symptom questionnaire will differentiate Covid-19 from seasonal flu or any other respiratory diseases. Thanks again for a rational voice in a hubbub of hysteria.

As the number of hospitalisation sand deaths are rising steeply but the app appears to show less dramatic rises do you need to move from looking at the last 14 days to say the last 7 days in reporting the trends. Also are you able to correlate your findings to the sewerage monitoring that has been taking place??

Can you add BACK PAIN symptom to your list of questions? Anecdotally I think this is a COvid symptom that is being missed. I dismissed it myself initially. I had an intense back/hip pain for a few hours that I thought was a twisted muscle but after several discussions with someone else who tested positive- they said their only symptom was back pain - and another friend’s wife had lower back pain and my friend had loss of smell and went for acupuncture for back before testing became accessible.

Thank you for the updates. They are really useful. I understand that the number of positive tests are increasing, but so too, we are told are the number of tests. So, is the rate of infection increasing if the ratios of positives: tests are compared between now and, say, March? Thanks.

I was pleased to be asked to do a Covid test in the interest of data collection. However, there was no swab in my kit. So I had to cancel my courier. He did turn up though, and if that isn't bad enough, I've just had another courier turn up this morning. What a waste of time and resources.

When you say 36, 000 *symptomatic* cases, do you mean hospital admissions? If not, how would you know who has symptoms, and who would decide what they are symptoms of? Or did you just mean 36,000 positive test results?

@ZOE ... The spread amongst younger is just part of the (excuse the term) "no shit sherlock" effect. The average intelligent person could of told you that back at the start. I'm a young (not OAP) post ICU COVID19 patient, who contracted COVID19 back in early April, and due to the way in which I was infected and my (6x negative) test results, I don't appear in your figures, and don't get included in any follow ups or research. Local cases and infection rates go against your "don't worry" approach ... That is making people complacent, and then the infection rates and hospitalisation rates will rise amongst all age groups. Yes .... I work in a hospital.
