I was in Saudi Arabia, every evening during r month of ramadan we wud watch this program together. My parents loved it. This was the glorious 80s when life was beautiful and we found joys in simple things. So many of these legnds have since left us; ranjeet, ali, mr. Brown, taro, juan, gladis, mrs. Courtney, sid...they all took that part of us with them. May Allah's blessing be upon them all for the joy and laughter they brought into our lives.

Three things that I loved about this show : 1- None of the characters had any “doubts” about their gender . 2- Every single one of the characters was fully heterosexual . 3- They were proud of their religion . The teacher or principal never told the students “You’re forbidden from speaking about your religion”. Man, what a great show ! I didn’t discover it until recently (I’m not from the UK), but I must say this show was phenomenal!

I watched this series as a French assistant in English schools in the early 80's. Stayed in England for over 20 years and now back in France teaching English. Still as funny as ever and as relevant regarding peculiarities of the English language (episode about vowels for instance 😂)
