I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPERIENCE A BEAUTIFUL ISLAND PARADISE IN MALUSO, BASILAN... WITH AN AWESOME FILIPINO FAMILY!
On this day, I scooter to the Municipality of Maluso, and meet up with some locals and tourism staff. From there, we ride a boat and make our way to Kayumkuman Island. This Island is beautiful! With its local vibes, coconut trees, white sand and corals... The only thing that was more beautiful? The awesome Filipino family and friends that I was with! Such wonderful vibes in Basilan!
Oh... and the coconut beach barbecue was absolutely classic!! Proper local Filipino beach cooking!

I missed las vegas once lived there 15 years ago playing tournament poker but now doing farming in Philippines. I missed the vegas strip at night just walking around and watching the lights and go to shows all over around now im in a farm surrounded with coconuts with only the light of stars seen a very different world indeed.

I remember when i was working on advertising agency when my project was the calendar back in 2014 supposedly our shooting is in basilan but because of the situation they moved the location to Tandag. Guess what, it was the first time i came to Mindanao it was an amazingly majestic place.

But controls must be in place as early as now to regulate the number of tourists per destination, as well as coming up with ordinances to limit the structures to be built for tourists. Tourism related businesses MUST be by the locals only to ensure that tourism revenue will benefit the locals and stay in the locality for development by the locals. Our friends in the tourism sector must be pro-active to avoid the mistakes of other destinations that suffer over-tourism. Your closing statement is apt......the locals will make or unmake the place. Exactly!!! Tourism business infrastructures should be awarded only to local resident of that area. For sure the basis of commercial development is : 1) it wouldnt displace any ancestral tribes . 2) it wouldnt compromise the balance of nature . 3) it will benefit more of its residents . 4) it will respect the existing culture , tradition & practices , & major religion.

INDEED!!! Mindanao is realy endowed of rich natural resources!!!! As a kid , what I know is the war then , BUT as inquisitive as I am , I ask my father about it , he says Mindanao is beautiful island of PHL. We're from Luzon. When I visited 3x recently , my word is WOW!!! at the same time , at the back of my mind : ' wish it will be preserve for generstions to generations to come'. The corals in that island is amazing. They are obviously untouched by people. They will become the casualty once tourism picks up in Basilan. I'm just hoping that the damage to those corals will be at a minimum once tourism returns to Basilan.

Then I realised that's NOT the trip you want pre-anounce your visit.
