They might not have many good roads because our governments sulks but they have all the important roads across town done and paid for by locals. And they all paid for their bore home waters and water tanks so they don’t have to drink chemical pollutions in water from any water corporations as is do done with chlorine as is done in the West.

Firstly, We do have mortgage facilities, Federal Mortgage bank , other financial institutions, but 95% of Nigerian's buy houses outrightly, cash straight. The major thing in our real Estate sector is the spread out payment plan. Developer- ownership partnership. But most rich Nigerians buy houses in cash , full payment.

You really call paying for a whole house within 24 months a mortgage fam? Compare it to what is available in the West where the children can inherit and continue to pay the mortgage long after a person is dead if they died early. If plus Nigerian mortgage system is fairly recent under a decade or so at best. Still it’s better than when we didn’t have it.

We don't do mortgage except it's from the government, the government mortgage is on a 25yr scale on houses, those for cars are still in discussion with the federal government

Before I started my business I worked for 3years to save up for my business. Because nobody is giving you nothing So we work for everything we own

There's mortgages and car financing as well! The problem is the tenure (too short..... especially for mortgage) and requirements to get it (ridiculous). It is actually easier to get a car financed (mostly only for new cars) than getting a mortgage. Since the requirements only favors mainly the rich; it's better to deny its existence.

You do realize that these properties are only available to the top 1 % in Nigeria (many of whom are connected to the political elite). It should not change the fact that MOST of the population is struggling. You can find similar houses in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The issue is that there is little income mobility and most are involved in clientism style politics. Americans need to check the cost of living for these countries before applying their own ideas of pricing to the property rates. You might find it affordable but the average Nigerian cannot.
