But it looks to me like the dad ultimately triggered the charge, with his sudden movement at 1:24 as the tipping point. Turning and running from an animal is often an attack trigger -- all backing away slowly together might have worked better. But this was a bad situation no matter what.

In Black Water Falls W. VA. The deer are so tame it’s nothing for them to come right up to you expecting to be fed. We were camping out there one year when we woke up the deer were almost at the camper door and my daughter who was about four then couldn’t wait to go out and feed them had to convince her she had to get dressed and eat first, still the deer were waiting and she was able to pet the immature ones

So it could've definitely killed her. And even if you can swim, if the sea lion takes and holds you deep underwatee you are going to drown. Unless you are aquaman who can breathe underwater.

Deer hardly ever attack, they are very skittish and ready to run, if you know what your doing the deer are perfectly fine to get close to.
