Ep 6: "Making the Cut" - Guards Conversion Course

Lasers from the SAR21 assault rifles pierce through the darkness like a scene from an ominous science fiction movie. The air is filled with the smell of gunpowder and smoke from grenades.
And amid these, the sweet smell of success, as the Guardsmen trainees take out the well-concealed "enemies", one by one, in a dilapidated building.
As the firefight comes to a close, it seems to signal the end of their mission. Or is there something more in store? Check out episode 6 of Making the Cut.

There used to be separate courses for officer and nco. Now all commanders go through GCC. Men will go through GAIT. 3 GDS is 3rd Battalion Singapore Guards.

Very common. All combat support soldiers also have to go GCC - medic, signals, artillery mortar, engineer pioneer, recce scouts

GCC is to induct both new Specs and Officers fresh out of OCS/SCS right? So as course trainees, are the Officers subject to the same training conditions as the specs; ie small unit tactics and indiv fieldcraft, drag tyres, must stand in line and do water parade that kinda thing? Just curious.

@desdes24 they are using blanks bullet, gives you the effect of shooting a real bullet, close to it. at least better than going "bang bang bang, bang bang". hahah but still, they have to be properly geared up for trainings.

Using smoke grenades at night? Seldom see liddat. And can the laser sights pierce through the smoke? Just curious to know coz elite infantry utilize infrared goggles to enable them to see through the smoke.

They use fake bullets

When in field training, they fire blanks, but when in ranges, they fire 5.56mm live rounds.

@therealfakeAlphabet In the recent courses they go through the same training as each other, but in the past I heard their GCC were separated into Specialist and Officers. The only difference I can think of is during the planning and issuing of orders where the officers are more involved
