Found this story after reading about Dennis Waterman passing away this afternoon at the Young age of 74. The Sweeney and Minder are my go to Dvds mostly on a weekly basis, absolutely gutted he's passed away but what brilliant TV shows he leaves behind

Perfect! Never seen a white S version in the Netherlands. The MK2 S version was the car that i always wanted as a kid. The only thing that is missing on this car are the flags on the steering wheel. That was typical S. I have exactly the same radio in my MK3, only from Blaupunkt (Nürnberg). Loved this upload.

I had a 1.6 l Capri Mk II in the early 1980's- the automatic choke was a nightmare. If you touched the accelerator even slightly on ignition, it would NOT start. Then the solution as told to me by an AA man, was to remove the air filter, take top off WD-40 can, fill with petrol, pour down carb, run round quick & start engine. Despite that, loved the car!

Great fun mate ! I was born in 1973 so yes same here grew up watching the Professionals and Minder and of course The Sweeney. Up until 1982 we still only had 3 channels but we were still blessed with the above mentioned classics. CARS were such a big feature back then because they had character back then - Will we see this quality return to cars as a general rule? I hope to see all our old favourites return one day the MST Escorts are being made in Wales as we speak but perhaps £70 grand to £100 grand depending on spec for a Mark 1 or Mark 2 Ford Escort is a tad too much money for most but it's nice that those with big wallets are helping to place reproduction versions of old Fords back on the tarmac. Back to Terence .. Great job an incredible job and another fine day for Classic Fords

It mat have been one of the cars, but it’s not actually the only car, if you watch the episode “around the corner” you will see its a different car, not even the rims are correct, the pinstripes are totally wrong and other differences eg the car used in that episode has a black rear spoiler, It’s not uncommon for TVs to have back up cars, especially if they use stunt driver’s, actually in one episode the car has no pinstripes and is badged 1.6lt Even the number although correct, is not the original, and if you are wondering how I noticed all of this, 1) i own the boxset of Minder because it’s one of my favourite shows, and i also owned four white capris over my lifetime, 3 of which were 1.6 lts. So it’s a one of the Capris used possibly .

When you look at the condition of the car prior to its unfortunate fire - you can now see the attention to detail thats been lavished to bring its condition far and above to what it was before. A fabulous result and a testiment to everybody that has worked on her in the past six months. Even if you discount its Minder history a Mk2 2.0s is now a very rare car - and even though this wasn't a total nut and bolt strip down - this has to be now one of the best Mk2 'S left. Fantastic. ☺️👍

Great videos on a personal favorite tv show. “Do this nice little earner and the world is your lobster”. My only and very tenuous link to Minder was in the 80’s a friend of mine played Rugby and it was after a game Dennis Waterman had been watching that at the bar Dennis bought him a pint. Sad fact I know but quite nice to be there and hear “Terry” say “what you having?, Er two pints of larger and have one yourself love”. Cheers

What a magnificent car that is. A fantastic restoration, too. Wonderful to see the two cars together. Glad that stupid ‘minder’ window sticker bit the dust
@BungleBare3 жыл бұрын
Sadly, the urge to put a stupid sticker in it is strong though. That fake dealer sticker in the back window is way too big to be convincing. What makes it worse is that there were joke stickers available for Arthur’s dealers in the ‘80s that were the same size as a normal dealer sticker - I used to see them on a few cars when I was a kid. They didn’t jump out as anything odd until you looked closely at a car with them in the back window. Maybe an information board to put in front of the car at shows would be the way to go, rather than daft “look, it’s the Minder car” stickers? Also, the S stickers (next to the 2.0 badges) on the front wings are clearly not on the car in the titles of the show. For absolute authenticity I’d be getting those (veeeery carefully) removed if I owned the car.

@michaelb96643 жыл бұрын
The thing is though, if it was a daily driver it would have died a long time ago. Cars don’t last this long being daily driven unfortunately.
@smoothmicra3 жыл бұрын
@@michaelb9664 Well that depends on how much TLC you give it, how much money you lavish on it. The point I'm making is that it will more than likely become an "investment" piece, it was entirely a car built to be driven, not something to preserve like an ancient relic. Thirty years from now most people who grew up with Minder will be very old or dead; the relevance of the TV show won't mean so much. So drive it I say, enjoy the experience and put a smile on the face of people who remember Capris being the coolest car on the road. Keep it garaged, waxoyl it, get it serviced every 5-10K, clean it with love, it'll go on for decades.👍

A common ‘80s upgrade, as secondhand gearboxes from Granadas and Sierras became available - a bolt-in upgrade that fitted straight onto a Pinto engine. It’s not inconceivable that Des (played by George Layton) might have done this upgrade for Terry in his railway arch garage at some point.
