Tony, Jim and Alex head out on the road to spend the day with car collector Tony Page, owner of the Ford Capri and the Daimler driven by Dennis Waterman and George Cole in ITV's Minder. Tony remembers meeting Dennis Waterman and Alex gets to wear George Cole's iconic hat and coat.

I remember the Capri, I used to travel around in it as a child. My father, Barry Reynolds, was the man at Ford who supplied cars to TV and film. When the cars went on set my father used them for personal transport so each weekend we'd have a different car from the sweeny, the professional, minder or any of the other Fords. I remember the Minder Capri in particular as I liked the interior although it was a bit cramped in the back compared to Cowleys Granada!

I bet he was gutted when Dennis didn't want to talk about minder . Real shame I have always loved minder and I would loved to have meet Dennis but after all these years he is probably sick of talking about it . The Dennis waterman years where my Favourite i think I just liked that era More . Great vid 👍👍

I had an Austin maxi 1750 from 1972 in exactly the same lime green colour as the Daimler.. I had it for about 4 years in the 90s. That paint must have been doing the rounds at the time or something.. 🎨😁

The owner of NHK295M the consul GT used in the sweeny, also ask Dennis for a reunion with the car, he wasn't interested, strange he spoke of the sweeney and other programs, didn't want to talk about minder, it was 1979 he moved on? Such a shame for all these people that have saved the cars against all odds for all these years, didn't even want to talk about minder

@@mylifeonvhs thanks had mk1 Ford Granada Ghia since 1992 and in 1995 untill 1999 I fully restored car it's silver with black vinyl roof it's 2.8 litre automatic Ghia it came with folder full of history and got paperwork from when it came off production line belonged to one owner from new it's my everyday car for work and school run would never sell car

just because the capri has the number plate IT IS NOT THE ORIGINAL CAR as car was scrapped and the number plate appeared on more than 1 car in the series including a mk1 capri 1600gtlx the original was a 1600 not top of range 2.0s

It's was background car orginally going to be Terry's car but production thought it was too flash so the Capri was put in It was a demo for Ford and did the magazine rounds and was featured several times. Street Machine did a article in early eighties on it and I think it was last seen in Wales advertised around 87 It's not been taxed since . There were rumours it's rotted away or caught fire but nothing ever has been provided as evidence. It was a 1.3 in that guise and eventually had a 2.0 pinto fitted. It's was dressed for TV production

There were many capris in minder,later a mk1 capri had SLE71R plates then a gold V reg MJN701V, then a white mk3

wasnt an rs1800 if anything it was a mexico with xpack as has mexico seats rolltops and has harrier stripe so its a bitza bits of this bits of that lol id a signal green mexico with same x pack bodykit then id an xpack rs2000 capri 2 and 3 xpack and xx packs too i must have spent a fortune in fibresports lol arse out on roundabouts see how far keep it sideways we didnt call it drifting even though ppl believe japanese started drifting nope we did it in 70s 80s in rear wheel drive cars when most jap cars rusted in a year as made of tinfoil

I bought a same colour Daimler VDP V-Reg for this reason around 2002, Paid £1995 no Mot , cost £2500+ to fix , and lucky to get 12 to the gallon I called it the 4.2 Wallet Shrinker, ,,lovely fast comfy car though.
