I agree with the “shift” going on. I’ve been doing dry January and other months through out the year. I actually decided to quit after watching psyched substances video on “top 5 drugs everyone tries”. What he said about alcohol I guess made me realize how conditioned we are to drink. I feel better and although I lost some friends, it’s probably for the best if they have a problem with my choices lol

This video came up suggested. I have been sober for over 5 weeks after an ER visit with Pancreatitis and Acute Withdrawal Syndrome. I have quit and failed so many times due to the social pressures. Alcohol has been the culprit for most of my life's issues. I'm ready to start living again at 46. The push from celebrities, tv, movies, commercials, etc of alcohol as being normal and harmless is the addiction. So glad you made this video!

It's been awhile since you posted this comment. I hope that you're doing well and are happy. I've been clean and sober 16 years and I know it's not always an easy start but it's possible to do it. I'm sending tons of love and positive vibes. You got this! I believe in you!

8 years ago, I was going hard. I asked my brother how he quit,his answer saved my life. He told me this- You don’t have to quit, you just need to not drink tonight. Quitting for forever seems impossible, but one night isn’t that hard.

Dude!! Incredibly well done, and super inspirational. Love seeing a fellow dead head taking this journey also. I’m 5 months in to this, and love every second. And as far as finding my thing, many past passions are resurfacing now that my head is clearing up, like flying again, scuba certification, and experimenting with all these NA drinks. Never a dull moment brother.

You saw the patch on the backpack! Haha, nice! 🤘🏽 You said it perfectly there too. The brain clears up so much. I learned in the Friendship House here in SF what happens to the brain at about 6 months, AND 1 year and it’s unreal how much the brain lights up like a Christmas tree. Find your thing! I’m ticketed I get to still do what I love to do and that’s make drinks and share all the new beverages with everyone. Stoked. Thanks for that comment On the Wagon!

So glad Ocean Beach Cafe is still going strong! I hope you got some help so those 90-hour weeks are a thing of the past! Though I know starting such a banging business is a huge deal! 🙂 I came for Dry January 2022 for a "Temperance Tastings" hosted by you, Josh, and it was a blast. I also grabbed some a/f wines to try that day, really great stuff. Thank you. But then in February 2022, I went back to drinking -- and I just decided it was time to quit for real-real yesterday. I'm 51 and was gaining weight I definitely didn't need from the booze and accompanying snacks. Way more scary, I realized my memory was getting damaged from the binge-drinking of alcohol. Oh HELL no. Like I'd totally forget conversations or facts from the day before, or even just a few hours before. Getting chubby was not great, but losing my brain power, HUGE NOPE. I'll be up to see you all soon to get more a/f bevs! Right now, just drinking a lot of tea, haha! Peace and

Cool idea and great to have options at a restaurant and bar. Also great not be around idiots drinking and thinking they’re so cool, sophisticated when they’re really just obnoxious and arrogant. Honestly, I don’t need any calories and I pretty much tolerated the taste of alcohol to get the effect. So, I think I’ll stick to ordering food and sparkling water.. and leave a big tip!

My only problem with non-alcoholic drinks is this: If I'm in a bar, I can usually only have a couple of non-alcoholic drinks before feeling full. With alcohol, I can drink more and therefore stay out for longer, which I like. Anyone else have the same problem?
@notyourdamnbusiness879511 ай бұрын
i stopped drinking for over a year.......and nothing changed. 0. if alcohol ruins your life, by all means: stop drinking. but: alcohol is never the problem.....its you. and dont try to shift the blame. again: props to everybody who makes the decision to stop drinking......but you just gor rid of the symptom......not the cause.

This guy looks drunk even though he is sober. These are the kinds of people that should definitely stay away from alcohol. Some can enjoy it periodically for what it is, and some need to 100% stay away. There was little to no alchohol in my family growing up, it not a huge part of my family outside of using it to cook like rum cakes at christmas. I didn’t start drinking until my late 20s and have never thrown up or blacked out. I just never liked overconsumption.
@JoshTheNonAlcoholic22 күн бұрын
I take that as a compliment! Feels amazing to share the story of what’s happening as far as society drinking less, and destigmatizing not drinking at all. I was def sober in that video. But I brought alcohol back into my life about a year later… and yes, I do not need to be drinking, and very happily sober now, and for the rest of time. But NA Beer and Wine has been the reason this whole campaign, business, and lifestyle has happened. While at the same time, NA beer and wine is definitely not for everyone, especially those in early or significant recovery.

Sorry I don’t get it; I take breaks from drinking and have been drinking less, but why not tea, or just water or something not like booze- when I eat vegetarian I don’t seek out fake meat either- plus part of the draw to not drinking is the money I save, this looks like another way to blow loads of money

Yep, you're right. It's a weak substitute like vegetarian sausages/bacon. All power to not drinking booze. I'm happy to save the money and stay away from all craft beers, including 0% ones...
