Beautiful restoration. One suggestion--with soldering, more is not better. Using flux will help the solder flow and make an integrated weld with the materials you want to join. Heating the metals rather than the solder is also good. Thanks for your bringing your work to us.

Thanks for the tip! I will work on my solder skills and your comment will help!

@@NTRprojects Soldering can be difficult on things like the motor, I am sure you noticed the metal absorbs heat quickly. Sometimes higher heat for less time can work better. Overall you did a good job :) The coffee grider looks amazing, good restoration!

Looks very good! The bubbles in the clear plastic cap look fine. They are all small and rather evenly distributed. It looks intentional; and given that metal flake in plastic would become popular not long after that grinder was made. So, it looks really good. Thank you for showing us this grinder.

I love your work, you are one of the VERY few channels I subbed only after a single video! Please don't take it as an attack, just a friendly advice. Those solder joints are horrible. Proper flux cored solder even should do a a better job, the thing is hardly flowing. I'm by no means a professional, I just had to do some stuff recently around the house and the garden. If you are dealing with old copper (with copper oxide and sulfide), a simple household solution should help: a bunch of table salt with vinegar. Neutralize with a baking soda solution. It works wonders: we didn't have to dig up a 100m+ of wires around the garden because of some lawn mover damage, we could solder the stubs after the treatment ( a few 7W LED bulbs won't put much strain on the circuit). Connecting any stranded wires to connectors should be done after crimping the ends. You are burning the heat shrink, you can do a better job with some distance and going slowly or with the use of a heat gun. If any electrician is reading this and facepalming on the words used, English is not my first language so I might not be using the proper terms, and this is pretty far from my profession.
@NTRprojects3 жыл бұрын
That was Flux cored but I think it's not good quality and I will add extra Flux in the future. Maybe I also get a new tip. Thank you for the honesty and the good advice

Nice restore job! Just thought id toss in a tip for next time you cast clear resin for a new part. I spent weeks testing methods of casting the same two part silicone molds for a 300zx tail lens and found that if you degas the mixed resin in a vacuum bucket before you pour the mold full you will avoid the bubbles in the cast part. Pre heating the silicone mold in a microwave also helps, but keep in mind that the warmer the temp the faster the isothermal reaction. So you have to be ready and not waste time.

I like the word "Mindful", as it was that. I Appreciate the casting of the new lid but didn't like the bubbles too much. A Technique for cleaning old plastic (Acrylic?) is to submerge it in ~35% food grade Peroxide and shine ultraviolet on it...this may have worked on this application and allowed you to restore and keep the original lid. Nice work on the paint (beautiful color) and decal!! It's always amazing to me how well old synchronous motors last...nicely done! Thanks for your story!
