I'm in my 70's so I've never done any video conferencing before, but I find myself in that situation with my friends, Bible Study Group, and family. This was a huge help to me. I am going to send it on to others. You are very down-to-earth and pleasant. Thank you for making this video. Can't wait to see others.

This is wonderful. You're a real human. It feels like you have our best interests in mind, and you really want us to look our best. No gimmicks, no millennials' beauty tricks because I'm 64, and I have jowls and sagging neckline and bags under my eyes. It's really depressing. I want to start a KZbin channel, but I'm daunted by the way I look. But your friendly easy to listen to manner is giving me courage. Thank you.

Cindy Howard good point Cindy, but do u think the person who would have the type of stuff going on in the background and not give it a thought, would bother with SuperPHdiva? Tacky classless people don’t believe that their background of debris, unmade bed, screaming kids running back and forth, really don’t care.

Oh I LOVE you! You covered it all! I have 2 conference calls tomorrow and this really helps! I have done a few things you mentioned which I will try not to do tomorrow. Its so nice to have a lady close to my age (I am 61) who gets it and understands how important it is as we get older, to be careful of angles, lighting, and what I am doing while I am on camera. I am probably not going to be attentive at all, as I will be looking at all the things everyone is doing wrong!! For once, I am looking forward to a conference call! Thanks Bobbie, looking forward to watching more of your videos :-)

Great great tips! My issue is PROGRESSIVE glasses! At the right distance and height to look decent, I have to look through the bottom of my glasses. Thus, tipping my head up. Gah! Tip: Root Touch Up also makes thin hair look thicker, a shade darker sprayed at the roots from below

Bobbie, thank you so much for this video. Very helpful, especially since I'm currently in a job search. I ordered a ring light to fix my lighting issues. The main light I had was coming from my gigantic iMac screen (awfully bright and not the best quality), so I'm going to dim the Mac screen and use the ring light for video calls.

What a great and informative video! I'm not part of your target audience, but still enjoyed all the tips. I work as a teacher, and have been trying to look as professional as possible on camera. My desk is now facing a window, which has improved lighting enormously. One thing that still bothers me, however, is that my eye color still appears way darker than it is. Ideally, I would have to sit so much closer to a light source (and blind myself in the process) in order to get my eyes to look hazel green instead of black. I have ordered a ring light, which I hope will help improve things.

I am 73 and I was horrified that I looked like an old crone. I finally told my daughter to send the kids out of the room because I was sure I was scaring them! Later, I worked with a pile of books to get my I pad out from under my chin and I will definitely put on eye makeup! Good tips for those of us who are still emerging from the Stone Age.

Teaching for 40 minutes, I could not survive without sipping from a water bottle. Thanks for your suggestions for video conferencing. I started working at home 2 weeks ago and just using the technology for the first time is daunting. I will try out your placement suggestions as I am alternating between iPad and laptop. I think my lighting fits your recommendations and with cloudy days I have definitely noticed the change in level of natural light. It’s so helpful for you to share your expertise with all of us. One funny thing since we moved to work at home makes me smile every time I think about it...we got an email and it said “wear bottoms in case you have to step away to get something during the meeting”. I wondered if it was because something happened in one of our meetings or if it was just a tip that came from some kind of ‘top 10 things to avoid list’. Either way it still makes me smile when I think about it. You look terrific today! Take care and stay safe!

Great information thanks for sharing and I do agree with everything you said, a few weeks ago I was on a group call and one lady was wearing a strapless dress and kept playing with her long hair. My first thought was are you kidding! Is she sitting there nude? She kept playing with her hair almost like she was posing for a photoshoot. It was so distracting I was not able to pay attention to the actual meeting and what was being said. There were times I was able to move her off the screenshot, but then she would reappear. I just wanted to log out of the meeting but of course was not able to. More people need to see your video. Thank You for sharing.

This is photography lighting 101. Extreme side lighting is called "split light", when the one side falls into shadows. Light from below is called "ghoul light" because it makes you look like, well, a ghoul, l0l. The pillow case is reflecting the main light into the shadows like a reflector. The BEST light is from 45* to the side of the face and slightly above. Cheers!!
