Inspite of being in such a great stature this Grandmaster was so humble gentle and kind towards each and everybody. His love can be felt even in his videos by those who have never met him. 🙏💐

You have to remember he has been practicing Ving Tsun for over 60 years, he makes it look easy and most of the time when I visited his club his students and his grand students could not duplicate him. The internal method I feel is the icing on the cake, you have to make the cake first.

It's been 5 years since he passed away and his top students still arent even close to replicating him. That's why he felt a bit sad cause he felt as if he has failed as a teacher. But in the last years he did find a better way to teach it when he found oit about the importance of the spine. Also we should take into account that he was practicing 6hrs a day 7days a week for a couple of decades (14yrs) before he opened his school. That's a lot of hours. These days not many ppl have that much time 😅

The whole mass of the body is always behind each movement, that is in my opinion where the basic power comes from in Wing Chun. Then it is further increased by rotational movements, relaxation (muscle elasticity) and loosening of the joints. I might be wrong, please correct me :)

I've had the pleasure to work with Marty Anderson here in Duluth, Minnesota USA, who was Chu Shong Tin's first non Chinese student in the 1970's. He always tell me the same thing which is what you are saying. Moving from center of mass isn't the most important thing...it's the only thing. He says "You move from center of mass and it leaves nothing behind". Check out John Kaufman being interviewed on "The Martial Man".

Sigung Chu was incredible. Was there any emphasis on nim lik during this lesson or just the rotation and relaxation of the body and shoulder?
@MindfulWingChun
@MindfulWingChun 5 жыл бұрын
There was no emphasis on using any kind of Chi/Nim Lik. Just very good joint control at play in these demonstrations

Connection of elbow to body hence he is able to shift with the whole body, something in western wing chun you do not often see..
@MindfulWingChun
@MindfulWingChun 5 жыл бұрын
Yes the 'Elbow Power' is an important aspect of it. It means that his shoulder joints are opened up and can retain the openness under pressure. 👌 In fact, All joints must have this openness not just the shoulder, but being the main joint that connects the body to the arms it is the most crucial one for this type of power generation, hence the importance of elbow power.

Sigung Chu Shong Tin is the only person from who I would have wanted to learn Wing Chun. He had an understanding beyond most others.

I heard Sifu Nima is a student of Master Chu Shong Tin and has been diligently practicing and doing amazing things. He is teaching purely what Master Chu Shong Tin taught them in detail on the Mindfulwingchunonline school. Check it out!

This practice (the way he taught Siu Nim Tao) is the most powerful and straightforward Qigong and internal practice that I have come acrossin my 25yrs of my journey, having being in contact with so many internal kung fu and Qigong teachers from around the world.

Actually all he did before 2005 was do chisau with his students all day. After 2005 he changed his teachings as he wanted to solely focus on teaching the Nim Tao before he passed away...

Yes, its how all Wing Chun should be. The power must be there regardless of the lineage, but its fine to can express the technique differently (not at the expense of losing this kind of 'internal' power)

true in many cases. Chu Shong Tin was very open with sharing in detail what he was doing, but still took us so many years to get an experiential understanding of it

@@MindfulWingChun : To accomplish a Job you need to sharpen the Tools. Your 4 Limbs is your Tools . How do you sharpen your Tool(4 Limbs). Start from your Finger turn them into Hooks or Staggers. Your wrist like spring coil , your palm like a cleaver , your Arm, Elbow, like an iron Rod.Etc Etc. Throughout your whole body.Then you need Long Short and Spring tendon force which is the most important for your Tools(4- Limbs).

During this period of his life, and while having cancer, his power decreased to around 20% of his peak which was his late 50s/early 60s. I actually never met him during those years but I can only imagine how enormous his power would've been
