EXCELLENT PRESENTATION. lots of commonality and autoimmune issues many specialists yet no cross over to connect them all...as it seems you went thru as well. I went to school for nutrition in my 60's and am in process of reworking my numbers and medications in Diabetes and weight and psoriasis and neuropathy and more (on the verge of 72 now). Yes the stress and yes the mega trauma throughout my life has created a mind body soul crisis that I have worked on in many ways. Good to hear you did not give up. even when the docs were limited in what they were offering. I will be checking out this clinic plan. thanks so much.

It’s probably healthy Keto. And intermediate fasting. I was positive for Lupus and RA. I hate pill so I research and found Dr. Berg (he is not a doctor but studies functional medicine) and I’ve been following his recommendations. Now I have nooo joint pain, hands are not swollen and I am not in bed all the time. I was really depressed at some point because I am active. But all the pain I had was getting to me. I was limping and couldn’t do anything I love like volleyball and running. Cut sugar and carbs 80% and I am a new me.

Basically yiur elp was cutting out the junk food. Bigger issuses arise like dammage to your organs & cancers with keto in the long run. Your brain works off carbs--complex whole plant carbs are the essenntial. Be very careful with your choices of advise as most keto fads are 1) a disproven religion & 2) padding the pockets well of the pushers. People die. Using common sense & be wise in all things

Almost identical to what I've gone through! It has taken years of complaints before my NP ran tests twice and they kept coming back positive for Lupus! The Reumatolagist turned me away twice saying the numbers were not high enough!!! Outrageous behavior from these doctors!! My NP is the only one who finally said we need to treat this but the sad thing they don't know how to treat it so I've been put on lowest dose Hydroxy chlorine! I prefer the natural route so that's where I'm headed hoping to find a holistic practitioner

Talking about health as a lost art. So so true. I’m in Canada with universal health care. It’s still government funded & unfortunately sometimes we’re still just numbers. So you’re right about it being a lost art🙏🏼
@pkirkey6932
@pkirkey6932 Жыл бұрын
I’m an SLE patient in Canada too. Yes, we do have universal health care here but, make no mistake, it is funded by the taxes that you and I pay and it is merely government managed. Even for citizens who are too poor to pay income tax, the rest of us do pay taxes so that we can all share the benefits. Ultimately, you and I are the customers of services that we have essentially prepaid. We deserve value for the money and we deserve to be treated with dignity and care. All that said, we need to be our own best advocates and learn how to politely get our primary care provider (if we have one) to believe and respect us and advocate on our behalf in situations where we can’t. For instance, ordering tests often enough to monitor treatment progress. A CRP test done once a year, A1C or Vitamin D3 every couple of years is not enough for patients to keep on top of our health. We need at home test kits, or at least collection kits, for these.

My ana is extremely high I did have a horrible experience with breathing & my heart & blood pressure stage 2 & all my RF factor extremely high too but my cpc negative 😅 but I have Ra & lupus & haven't started taking hydroxychloroquine & Prednisone yet... Abusive relationship mentally & physically... 9 years of it. Started with tingling & numbness in my hands after 3 traumatizing events but I could shake it before but then 2 years ago the abuse went to another level I started getting a huge knot in my stomach & it hurt & my fear & stress was high I couldn't think now fast forward to last July I couldn't walk it just all kicked in full blast in July. I dropped 53 pounds since July... Little chubby I used to be active and healthy inside. Now I sleep a lot & don't feel like eating cause my stomach hurts & I'm in a ton of pain... Like to add i lost my Mom then lost my aunt that was like a mom about a year ago. I even stayed with her her last 2 weeks of life... Still don't know what to think of her passing. I had to get cognitive therapy over my mom they didn't embalm her soon enough & dhe was blown up & looked like an Asian but shes Cherokee Indian full blooded no disrespect & under the layers of makeup her skin purple & skin cracked open you could see the flesh under her skin 😔 the day we buried her i was rushed to ICU i had pneumonia & also found out i was pregnant after 10 days in icu week later i lost my baby & didnt know it for 3 weeks... They told me baby was 10 weeks old when passed and i thought the baby was at 13 weeks when i finally miscarried. Then got pregnant again and close to 7 or 8 months the abuse started. We had been together for 2 years before he started i couldnt do anything for him anymore because i was like the size of a house and had Braxton hick contractions... Then rest of the time was straight abuse after going through that with my mom... When my aunt passed i stayed away from him for a year and thats when everything was starting to get worse with my health.

I filed 2 lawsuits for misdiagnosis/medical malpractice and won both. I was misdiagnosed in 2015. My labs were lit up like a christmas tree. I was given meds that I didn't need. They let me suffer for 7 years. I begged for certain tests. Nope. I found a dr and handed him 7 years of labs. He freaked out and ran more testing. Autoimmune disease after autoimmune disease. My kidneys and liver suffered due to negligence. Any new doctor I now see, I bring up my lawsuits, just so they will LISTEN. Doctors are like parts cannon mechanics. They treat each symptom instead of looking for the root cause. I no longer trust them. I now record my conversations with my doctors for evidence and if I demand a test and get refused, I write it out and have them sign that they denied it.

I will say I just heard about a week ago that they’re saying gluten-free diets. They are finding or helping people with autoimmune diseases. I know with celiac which is an autoimmune disease you can’t have any gluten but I heard they’re saying it’s good for any autoimmune.

I am 52 and I have been taking hydrochloriquine since I was 16. July 1986 I was diagnosed with lupus. I was definitely Blessed that I was diagnosed right away. Lots of times lupus among a lot of autoimmune diseases are hard to diagnose. Within a month and a half maybe and I went into complete remission! So it definitely worked for me! Some people get scared to take it because it can affect your eyes. Depending on what dose you are on I don’t believe it is common. If you are taking it you should go to an eye doctor to certain tests done. So don’t be afraid to take it. If you get your eyes checked like your Dr. recommends they will be able to tell early enough if it affecting your eyes.

I’m going to continue. I’m sorry but I’m writing is so long. So anyway, as I said, the girl was visibly not doing well, etc. I’m not saying she was dying but anyway we were talking and before I say this I want to say one more thing. do not ever stop taking any medicine because the side effects that you hear can happen scare you. Do not think that “ oh, I’m doing better., let me try stopping the medicine. “. The Hydroxychloroquine can again can affect your eyes. So every year we’re supposed to go to an eye doctor for the certain test. I take two of the 200 mg a day. They also say that there’s more of a chance that it might affect your eyes if you’re on a higher dosage. Same thing with prednisone., People say oh my God I’ve had side effects, etc. etc. and they stop it and what do you think happens? They get a flareup they get sick. So I will back up now, the girl told me that the worst thing she did was to stop talking her medicine. She said I heard it could affect your eyes and I stopped it and then she said by doing that she ended up suffering much more from the lupus and a lot more damage was done to her. Now back to listening to people that can say stupid things. I’m 52 and I’ve had three people tell me,” you have to get off that prednisone. It’s not good for you. Did you read everything about it? We have to stop taking it as soon as you can.” Lol of course I didn’t listen to them. But these are you want to live where you wanna die or be really sick. One lady was a neighbor of my friends and she was doing horrible sickness. I don’t even know how she did anything. And then she got Raynauds disease along with a couple other autoimmune. There was only a short wire link fence separating us. I would be running around with my kids and she could barely walk to the fence and anytime I was at my friends if she happen to go out, she come by the fence and she would preach to me how bad the medicine is and I should do what she’s doing, the holistic way. I forgot to mention she also got scleroderma and that something you don’t want. But anyway, you don’t know how bad I want to just say, look at you right now, and look at me. What in your mind isn’t making sense? But I would just act like I was listening. I may I would say no I will never go off this medicine unless the doctor tells me etc. so basically I felt like telling a story but I mainly trying to say don’t listen to people. Most people still think it’s a death sentence immediately. It’s come along way and most of the time. If it gets really bad it’s because it’s not diagnosed early. Or immune diseases are very hard to diagnose. I mean some people might’ve had it bad in the end anyway, but I know the more you put it off the more it’s going to affect you , it’s not gonna stop. And there can be a time when you’re not taking any medicine. I know my doctor wants me on block went out pretty much for the rest of my life but he does try to wean me off the prednisone but since it’s 5 mg, I tell him I’d rather just stay on it. I guess I’m using it as a crutch. I’ll tell one more thing and usually when I tell the story I laugh because you can’t make it up. I was at ShopRite and I happen to have a rash on my face, no, it wasn’t your typical butterfly rash not at all. But she had a rash to the cashier. I don’t know how we got to talking about it, but she said she had rosacea and I said I have lupus, and she looked at me and her eyes got big, and she said” omg isn’t that deadly?” 😱😂 by then I was well into my late 30s and I just said while I was bagging I said well you tell me I was diagnosed at 16 and I’m 37. I didn’t say it snotty because I’m sure she didn’t even mean to say it that way. but don’t listen to anybody but your doctor! If the medicine is going to affect your eyes, that’s why you go over a year for the test and if they see it’s doing damage then the doctors will tell you what to do and what to take and what not to take. I was also diagnosed with hypothyroidism at the same time. And I always every day, take my medicine. Yes I know. Unfortunately, some people get it really bad. I’m not trying to say every one of them got it bad because they didn’t listen to the doctor and they stop taking their medicine.. I’m not saying that at all but I am saying that that does happen a lot. If you’re taking prednisone, make sure you take calcium ask your doctor how much take as much as you can. That’s what I do and every year I go for a bone density test because prednisone can affect your bones and cause your bones to become weak and break easily. I did have in my life two kidney stones that were 100% calcium. But I’ll take that any day it’s going to protect me from getting osteoporosis, which is the weakness of your bones and teeth. Speaking of cheese, 80% to 100% of people with lupus how much more likely to have tooth decay, etc., I learned the hard way on that one so you might want to let your doctor know and you can go on this thing. I forgot what they call it but instead of you waiting every six months for cleaning I think it’s every three months and insurance as far as I know, for me, does cover it. So next time you go to the dentist, mention it to them. Believe me please take a vantage of it and you’ll do all right with your teeth. I could say a lot more lol but this is on and on so any questions ask me. Another thing I’m sorry, and my ear is oh you can’t get pregnant because you have lupus. That’s 100% false. You can get pregnant but you’re at a much higher risk of having with a cold spontaneous miscarriages. I was blessed I had two kids and I did well I had no miscarriages and it went well. Lupus and hypothyroid, etc. or hormonal diseases. That’s why it’s like 90% of women that get lupus, about 10% of men. It’s known that for a lot of people while you’re pregnant your lupus sometimes actually gets better. The worry is the stress and trauma. I guess I’ve giving birth can cause a lupus flare up after you have a baby. So what they do is before you give birth when you go in the hospital the intravenously give you prednisone intravenously, and that is to help not cause a flareup after giving birth. Sorry for the long text. I hope it helps somebody if they had any questions.
