So I finally got it. Everything. Thanks to you. Thank you. ❤ I need to watch Dr.G every day to stay on track. But your crash course, is equally helpful. Since January I started to make her smoothies, I reversed the fruit/vegetable amount. Still eating nuts/some oils, bread etc. BUT: today my blood results came back, best of my entire life! By far! First time I am not anemic. So far no allergies, I realized that today, with spring coming my friends are already coughing and sneezing, not me this year. It is crazy.😂 I am so happy and thankful. It gave me hope. Pregnant right now, after several miscarriage years ago. All looks good so far. Will keep up the work for me and the baby. Thank you again for your lovely video and personality ❤

Thanks for the comment! In this video I'm talking about Dr. Goldner's protocols and for her full protocol she says whole chia seeds can be consumed, but they don't count towards the protocol minimums. In order to count them for the protocol, she says chia seeds must be ground.

Love this idea, my question would be, what about the fact that dr. Gundry(who I’ve seen online) basically says tomatoes are not good for gut health ???
@showmemovegan13 күн бұрын
In general I don't recommend basing your nutrition decisions on solely influencers like myself or Dr. Gundry. Many of his claims are not backed by scientific evidence but are based on anecdotes. Certain people are sensitive to some foods, so if you personally have a sensitivity to tomatoes, it would be good to eliminate those. However, tomatoes are perfectly healthy for most people. I recommend adjusting your personal nutrition based on what works for you in consultation with your doctor or a qualified dietician.

I like to add a little seaweed to my smoothy (Nori sheets or Wakame, after being softened in water). They have lots of B12, Iodine and also iron, magnesium, sodium and calcium. All of the things that many veggies lack or have little of. If you add a lot, you can taste it, but it goes very well with camomile (just add the contents of a tea bag), lychee or mango. In the end, B12 supplements are just made of pressed seaweed but way more expensive usually.

When doing the protocol, you don't have to have smoothies, that is just the most convenient way for many people to eat all the vegetables. If you prefer, you can just eat the raw vegetables. The minimum is 16 ounces, but you can eat as much as you need to feel full. Dr. Goldner has a recipe book with ideas on how to eat the veggies if you don't like to eat raw vegetables plain. Or for more information and ideas, I would recommend joining Dr. Goldner's official Facebook group called "Smoothie Solution #smoothieshred" In that group there are thousands of people who have followed or are currently following the protocol who can help with how to do it.

@showmemovegan7 ай бұрын
I'm not aware of anything specific about nightshades in any of her protocols. But in her new book, several of the recipes include nightshades such as tomatoes and bell peppers. Generally, I don't think Dr. G limits any kind of raw vegetables, other than to say if an individual is not able to digest/tolerate any particular vegetable, to try something different. To get a better answer, you might try to ask during her next live Q&A, which she usually does on Wednesdays on all her social media platforms.

The protocol rules are pretty simple and the best place to get the most up-to-date information is the guide section of the Smoothie Shred facebook group. But if you want more details, I believe Dr. G's online classes covering the protocols and the science behind it are available for free on her website right now, but I'm not sure for how long. A few times a year she puts them up for free. Glad to hear you are working closely with your doctor. But yes, I agree it sounds like you probably need to find a way to eat more. Dr. G usually suggests spreading it out through the day and eating more frequently to get more food in. Wishing you luck!

Swiss chard is cruciferous. You had mentioned it is not. Ya might look it up
@showmemovegan9 күн бұрын
Hi there! I'm not an expert on plant classifications, but I simply described the vegetables in the way that Dr. Goldner teaches, and she generally describes the hypernourishing vegetables as "cruciferous plus spinach and swiss chard." Many people lump chard in with cruciferous, but technically cruciferous veggies are part of the brassicaceae family, while chard is in the chenopodiaceae or amaranthaceae family which is related to beets. Cool stuff!

Thank you very much, very informative. Can you eat sprouts? How much linseed oil can I take per day? Can I heat dishes, e.g. soup, to 42 C, and if so, how? Thank you for your answer Greeting from Europe❤❤
@showmemovegan20 күн бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching! For Dr. Goldner's Goodbye Lupus protocol, everything should be raw. I know there are certain "guidelines" about what is considered raw vs. cooked, but I've never heard Dr. G discuss if things can be warmed or what temperature is ok. She usually just emphasizes everything should be raw and she recommends warm herbal tea for people who want something warm. If you wanted to do her hypernourishing protocol instead, then cooked foods are ok. Sprouts are ok on any of her protocols in addition to the protocol minimums. And regarding the flax/linseed oil, Dr. Goldner usually says the upper limit is what you personally can tolerate. My understanding is if you have too much you'll have very loose stools. Dr. Goldner does live Q&As every Wednesday on all her social media channels if you want to hear her answers directly. Hope that helps!

@showmemovegan7 ай бұрын
Yes, Dr. Goldner emphasizes using only raw foods for the fastest healing, but after that, you could slowly add some cooked foods back in including legumes, though she recommends continuing to eat lots of raw food in addition to whatever cooked foods you add. Sprouted legumes are not allowed on the healing protocol, but vegetable sprouts could be included in addition to the healing food minimums. Hope that helps!

But then at the end of the video it turns out, you used the diet to reverse Colitis!! Big Reveal!! I looked through your channel, but couldn't find anything about colitis specifically. I know it can sometimes be perceived as a taboo subject; (but after having it for years I'm pretty sure colitis peeps are pretty much desensitised) but I'm wondering if you could tell us about the severity of your symptoms, the diet you used and why, and the time it took you to heal and whether you've seen any resurgence of symptoms ever? If I was a youtuber, and I had managed to reverse colitis I'd be shouting it from the rooftops. I'm sure it's something a lot of people would be really interested in, and that would help them massively. Congratulations on getting that done!! Thanks for the videos and best of luck with the future :) P

Hi there! Thanks so much for watching and for the feedback. I think you're right about being desensitized...I could talk about bowel movements all day! 😆 But yes, I suppose I figure most people don't want to hear those kinds of details so that's probably why I don't specifically talk about the symptoms I had. I did recently discuss it briefly in a live hangout where I tell my story of going vegan. It's in the first five minutes or so of this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4WpmWiYbZmHqrc And I have an older video where I talk about what I was eating in the years that I had symptoms, and what I ate transitioning to a vegan diet and when my symptoms went away: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pmqZamCml9aeis0 But to directly answer your questions, my main symptoms were blood and mucus in stool plus fatigue and a mix of constipation and diarrhea. The colonoscopy showed that my case was mild. I first tried a paleo diet for a few years, which at times seemed to improve symptoms, but they always returned. Once I switched to a whole food plant-based diet, my symptoms were gone within the first couple weeks, and I haven't had any episodes since (in 3 years). And I actually reversed my symptoms before I had heard of Dr. Goldner's Goodbye Lupus Protocol, so for that video I was just showing people how it could work. But normally I simply eat whole grains, beans, tons of cooked and raw veggies, fruit, and small amounts of nuts and seeds. If you're just transitioning to WFPB and looking for more resources, some of my favorite doctors to follow are Dr. Neal Barnard, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Dr. Joel Fuhrman, Dr. John McDougall, Dr. Will Bulsiewicz, Dr. T. Colin Campbell, Dr. Michal Greger and more. Thanks again for watching and best of luck to you as well! I'd love to hear how you're doing with the diet if you ever want to check in again!

Aloha I just wanted to let you know that Swiss chard is a cruciferous vegetable❤
@juliashearer78427 ай бұрын
It is not cruciferous but it is included as a healing green
@maryharrington89837 ай бұрын
It's a beet, bred for the tops/leaves instead of the root. Beta vulgaris, Amaranth family, not Brassica family.

So the protocol is all raw food? Is that during the initial intensive healing phase? Is some cooked allowed thereafter? Also, so do you know how Dr. Goldner feels about just water fasting? Dr. Alan Goldhamer - True North Health, Santa Rosa, Ca - has been seeing tremendous results for many years. Fasting goes way back of course. Thanks for the video
@showmemovegan5 ай бұрын
Yes, her protocol is all raw while healing. Once disease markers have normalized, and symptoms are gone, the idea is to continue "hypernourishing" with cruciferous, water, and omegas, but then yes cooked foods could be added back at that point. From what I recall, Dr. Goldner is not a fan of fasting in general because she prefers what she calls "overdosing in nutrition" through her protocol rather than fasting. But I personally am a big fan of Dr. Goldhamer and hope to go to True North myself one day!

Thanks for sharing! What about the protein intake?
@showmemovegan6 ай бұрын
You're welcome! Regarding protein, generally as long as one is eating an adequate number of calories for their size and activity level, protein needs should be met. If you have concerns about this, you can check how many calories you're consuming using something like Cronometer or another food tracking app. All plant foods have protein including all essential amino acids. But since this protocol is a raw diet and raw vegetables have a very low calorie density, that means you may need to eat a much larger volume of food than you may be used to in order to get the right amount of calories. Hope that helps!

Very informative. I am from Africa and have a heart problem. Con you add some african dish like plantains, green banana, yellow yams, sweet potatoes etc to this diet?
@showmemovegan6 ай бұрын
Hello! I am not a doctor, so I can't recommend anything regarding your specific condition. But if you want to follow this protocol exactly, it only includes raw vegetables and a small amount of raw fruit. I'm not sure if all of those can be consumed raw, but any raw fruits/veggies would be ok. Depending on your individual health and goals, you may not need to follow it that strictly. This protocol is intended to be used to help reverse chronic health conditions, so if you're just maintaining health, I think any of those foods cooked or raw would be a great part of a balanced plant-based diet. Hope that helps!

So glad I found your channel! How was the quality of the cookbook? Did it fall apart on you? Thinking of purchasing but a few reviews stated this issue.
@showmemovegan7 ай бұрын
I've flipped through my copy quite a bit, and have not had that problem. I'd say it's a pretty standard paperback binding. So as long as you don't crease the spine really hard, I wouldn't expect it to fall apart or wear out any sooner than any other paperback. I will say the color print seems a little faded, so the images aren't really bright and vibrant, but that doesn't bother me so much because you can still see everything and read the recipes just fine. Dr. G has said she is working with the publisher on a hardback with more glossy/high quality images, but I don't think that has a release date yet. So if you're just wanting the recipes, I think the paperback is fine, but if you want "prettier" pictures you might wait for the hardback.

Thank you, this video has helped me understand GLP better. If you don't mind, could you please tell me. Is it ok to eat almond milk, avocado and other raw vegetables in GLP?
@showmemoveganАй бұрын
Yes, almond milk is ok as long as it is unsweetened. And avocados and any kinds of raw veggies are also allowed.

Super clear and informative, speaking as someone who is already familiar. A couple thoughts: add text to read flax and chia is ground in earlier part of video; check if Dr G suggests getting blood levels of Vit b and D prior to taking; mention or add text indicating salt and iodine needs; include nutritional yeast somewhere, as this is a B source. Or, simply say at the outset that it’s not fully comprehensive and direct people to Dr Gs sources for full info? Again, appreciate the clarity and inspiration!
@showmemovegan7 ай бұрын
Hi! Thank you for the feedback! In my first video I covered Dr. G's resources for full info, but you're right that would have been good to include in this video for those who missed the first one. Unfortunately I cannot update anything in the video itself after it's published, but I have added the links to Dr. G's websites in the info below the video. Thanks so much for watching and for your comments!

What is the dosage of VD and B12 she recommends to take? Thank you for this video
@showmemovegan2 ай бұрын
Supplements are not technically part of the protocol, but when I've heard Dr. G talk about it, she usually recommends testing your levels for B12 and D and choosing a dosage based on your levels if needed.

Your content is truly helpful. Which protocol are you following? Is it rapid recovery, or do you have to follow it lifelong? How long should it be followed? Does the protocol allow you to eat grains like oats or quinoa, and what kinds of protein sources are permitted? Also, does everything have to be organic? Thanks!
@showmemovegan5 ай бұрын
Hi I'm glad it's been helpful! I don't normally follow Dr. G's protocols, I simply made this video to provide an example of how one would follow it. Dr. Goldner recommends people follow her Goodbye Lupus protocol for as long as it takes to reverse their autoimmune condition or other chronic diseases. So the time is different for each person, some have results in just a couple weeks, some it takes a couple months. After that, she recommends continuing to consume the hypernourishing foods (cruciferous veggies, water, and flax or chia), and slowly reintroducing other foods as desired, though oils and animal-based foods should always be avoided. Dr. G says she sees results whether the produce is organic or conventional, so there is no organic requirement. And for disease reversal, the protocol does not include grains, but they would be ok on the Hypernourishment protocol. I have more information about that protocol here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bmK7hYeaj6aYaac

@@showmemovegan Thank you for your response. could you please clarify whether the recommended daily water intake of around 96 ounces includes the water content in smoothies. Additionally, I'm curious about the suitability of drinking alkaline water while following a healing protocol. I have a water alkalizer and I'm wondering if it's okay to consume alkaline water in this context. Any insights would be appreciated. Thank you!
@showmemovegan5 ай бұрын
@@patel1111101 Yes! If you use water to blend your smoothies that counts towards the 96 ounces. And Dr. G just answered a question about alkaline water a few weeks ago on her weekly Q&A. I remember her saying she doesn't have any particular type of water recommendation. Any kind should be fine, she is more concerned about just getting people more hydrated. She actually mentioned how the diet itself is technically very alkaline. And she said her family tried alkaline water for a short time and didn't notice much difference for them, so any kind of water is suitable for this protocol. Hope that helps!
