That's when you know you're an artist ; you see what normal people can't see. I've had this experience so many times. You look at something mundane and it jumps out at you. And in themoment i have often tried to showmy hubby,but he doesn't see it. And even a camera can't quite get it. But then when you paint it, what you felt comes to life,and others can see what you Felt when you looked at that apple tree. It's a super power. You're a superhero! :p

I’m new to ink & watercolour. Some do ink after the painting and some do it before…. It’s just lovely though either way; I can’t decide which way I like better.

At the risk of being redundant, I really, really like that painting. It is the sort of thing I try to achieve when I take my sketch pad out on a hike. It is the sort of thing I absolutely love to look at years later and remember a place and time where I created a memory with a sketch. So...once again, thank you for taking the time and effort to share that.

Revisiting this Video a few years later, I had purchased a few "UNI PEN's" 0.5 after watching this Video the first time. They come in Grey, Black & Brown. I LOVE them and they have pushed my Creativity Bar up quite a few notches. Its fun to try new Tools now & then and based on Steve's recommendations or demonstrations, I've purchased many and have yet to regret any of them! Thanks !

I loved it. I love October, its full of the perfect lighting for pictures, paintings, and it inspires sculpture as well. Its November now and that can be a little more muted but sunsets help.

Your apple tree painting is gorgeous. I love when the Autumn light falls upon the ordinary and creates a new view or when it happens here during foggy "winter" mornings, especially as the sun rises; the light filters through and creates all sorts of "new" but capturing that with watercolor is just so difficult for me to do. I'll just have to keep trying.

I'm really getting into pen and watercolour inspired by your lovely work. You are my go to demo to help me improve and love the combination of loose and tight which I prefer. Going to start one from my photo of nearby woodlands this wet and windy day near York, England.

When you first do your values in pen and ink and then you do a graded wash of just a single colour it is kind of magical, because it looks as if this entire range of hues is appearing.

This years Inktober is going so quickly! I can't believe its almost halfway through. I think that is because I'm pacing myself this year. Last year, first time, I didn't know my limits. Its like being a runner, its partly psychological.

About an hour on the drawing and inking. Another 40 or so on the color. Speed is not important though which is why I don't like to mention it. Take the time you need to make it right.
@DrWhom5 жыл бұрын
This question is related in spirit to the (well-intentioned, no doubt) remark one very often gets when drawing and painting, and someone is looking over one's shoulder: "Wow... I don't have the patience for that." Patience is really not the key factor or bottleneck here.
