I learned a lot from your video. I think that you are a born teacher and so glad you are posting your work. I learned so much from this video. Your explanations of what you are doing and why are why I tune in to your videos. I haven't yet developed the confidence to do my sketches in ink yet and still use pencil and then ink. I am getting better though. Baby steps.... Thank you for sharing your talent, Steve.

This was an excellent video. I'm personally more confident with pen and ink than I am with watercolors, so I find myself afraid to start adding color once I have the line work looking right. This was great inspiration!

I have been watching your channel for awhile and never have commented but today I wanted to thank you for sharing your talent. Your video has come just at the right time for me as this is exactly the style I would like to work on...Floral Pen and watercolour. I just ordered the Carbon ink in Graphite which I am hoping I will like. This piece is beautifully done and will be watching it over and over again. Hoping you will consider doing something similar again but in normal time. I agree with everyone that this is the best Pen and Watercolour video I have seen!! Regards, Susan

Stunning work. This video is so inspiring and instructional. Thank you for explaining the various shading techniques and how a technique can effectively interpret the leaf's structure and roll. Your restraint, with the watercolor painting, does create a vintage feel. Again, thank you for all of your videos. It's all appreciated so very much.

Man, you inspire me. Because you make it look like something I could actually do! You are such a good explainer and teacher. I really hope the folks at John C Campbell Folk School are watching your videos because they are missing out on one of the southeast’s best art instructors. Not that I could afford it but still. Great demonstration! I’m not big on ink because I’m scared of it but the way you demonstrated it gave me the confidence to give it a go. Also, loved the subtle watercolor effect. Absolutely perfect! Hope you are enjoying the lovely fall weather and getting the opportunity to paint outside! Love those landscape paintings! Take care and God Bless Steve!

The Mind of Watercolor it’s very late here too. I’ve been taking advantage as much as the weather will allow. Lots of mdf acrylic painting live at Horseshoe Bend Park. The Ocoee River flows through and there are some beautiful vistas. Also some great trees. Saving some photos of trees and landscapes for watercolor during winter painting. My watercolor seems to do better at home than plein air but I am going to work on my watercolor during winter. I bought some big sheets of 300lb paper this summer and I need to put it to good use. Question? How do you cut down big sheets of watercolor paper? Just depends on the project? Or do you just cut up a pile of a certain size? Just curious. Anyway, I’m serious about all my comments. You are a grand teacher and the world should know!

I have a 3 in1 printer that scans and faxes but its a little older so scan quality isnt great. I typically will take a photo of my image, upload it via wifi to dropbox, edit lighting and print for practice (or dress rehearse- I like that Steve) my strokes. Some of the more organic forms from nature can be quite challenging to shade- especially when you are working from memory or imagination with out a reference photo. Thanks for tackling this topic Steve!
