It's amazing how many people still argue that the deadlift isn't either a back exercise or an exercise worth doing because it's dangerous. You don't have to try and pull for a PR every time you freaking deadlift. Lighter weights with solid form is a magical thing.

Sal the human body is not a product of evolution. You need to know you are a special creation from God, not a accident. The bible says "Every house is built by some one but the builder of all things is God." He built you Sal. " For God so loved the world[ He so loved Sal] that he gave his only son[Jesus] that whoever believes in him will not perish in hell but have everlasting life."@@MindPumpShow

As a mom of 3 (10 months out from my 3rd son), strengthening my back and glutes is my number 1 goal during pregnancy and post partum. It's been key to keeping away back pain since nursing is not kind to the body post partum! Was at 14.5 consecutive pull ups the day I found out I was pregnant with my 3rd. 10 months out I'm back at 7. Bringing in more deadlifts too so strengthen my whole posterior chain!

I'm glad you guys focused a lot on the back area and hip area with starting this conversation because of course we all know a lot of guys start going to the gym because they want to get more female attention but what they do is they chase the bulky unnatural bodybuilder physique not knowing that the vast majority of women are not attracted to that look, they might be intrigued from a distance and of course turn their heads but most women aren't daydreaming about men that look like that, they always say to stick between the swimmer's body and the athlete's body, unless you're fortunate to settle in between and have the warrior's body, which is big back and big hips. I have a thick dense&wide back, big hips, pretty damn good legs, with wide shoulders&triceps. I don't bodybuild but if i trained my arms and built my quad sweep, i'd look like I've been doing it forever

This is a great episode. It reminds me of the differences I came to see between my Army brethren and our Marine counterparts. At some point, I began to notice how much different a mid-career Marine's posture was as compared to me and my Army battle buddies. We were so push focused, which shows up in our forward rounded shoulders. The Marines I observed typically didn't have that because the pull-up was a major part of their fitness framework. Gotta work the back! 💪🏿

Fast forward 20 years I started lifting again a few months ago, I started doing rdls, my back blew up! I have a bigger back that I've ever had, now I can feel my back with rows and pulldowns as well.

I really like the training concept of hitting each muscle twice - once in it's full range of motion, and once in a way that's resisting motion. The deadlift builds the erectors by resisting motion, and it can be fantastic to use something like a flexion row or a jefferson curl to build them through their full RoM, from fully rounded over to extended.

IMO the King pull exercise is: RINGS PULL/CHIN UPS 1) You maintain all the advantages of pull ups, plus they are more joint friendly since it's possible to spiral the movement: - pronation with extended arms (this avoids Golf-elbow problems common with bar chin ups) - supination with bent arms (this avoids Tennis-elbow problems common with bar pull ups) 2) ROM is increased (no bar on the path). 3) Intensity is easily adjustable: - regression: just low the rings and use a Box to sustain the legs (similar to L-sit position) - progression: ARCHER rings pull/chin ups (which is also unilateral so it's great to fix unbalances)
@stormrhode2330 Жыл бұрын
I'm glad you mentioned the bench-assisted rows. One of my favorite exercises and they seem like a total hack to me. However, I NEVER see other people do them. I do bent-over sometimes, too (and pendalay), but bench-assisted is definitely my favorite variation. Straight-arm lat-pulls, too. Sometimes I'll do them bent-over with dumbbells (skiers, basically) and occasionally with a band or cable machine (I've found the anchor point really doesn't matter all that much). (Weighted) pull-ups and inverted rows are other go-tos. Adam alluded to facepulls, but I'm surprised they didn't get a bigger mention. Bent-over or bench-assisted with dumbbells are another great exercise, especially with a pause at the top and slow negative. Great exercises. I love doing back stuff.

I’d love a combat athlete program for grappling sports and MMA. We do so much in the gym that doing a full strength program can mess with recovery. Something that hones volume and intensity for people who are getting beaten down on the mats, often with a bunch of push ups, sprawls, and crunches as a part of that, that we could plug in without getting overworked would be great.

This was great. I've been doing deadlifts on Friday, but taking the day off from any lifting on Thursdays, so I can do back mobility and prime it up for Friday. 3 weeks ago I started incorporating (on Thursdays) sets of dead hangs on a pullup bar with a 25lb plate in a backpack. As well as putting my feet on the ground and just easy safe stretching/posturing extensions while maintaining a strong grip on the bar, keeping tension but nothing too strenuous, slow and controlled.....and it has been a total game changer for the next day of dead lifts!! Thanks so much for this particular episode. It confirmed a lot of things I was already doing to be correct...but thought I was just wingin' it.... Hooyah Mind Pump 💪 Merry Christmas fellas
