I live in the city and to help justify going out to eat. Ill walk about 1 mile to get there. Eat and 1 mile back. Definitely makes a huge difference and now I feel like I can be more lenient with what im eating when I do that.

What a great episode! Crumbola had me dying 😂 definitely calling it that from now on! I’d seen that study about reading the Bible more than 3 times a day… I definitely see the huge difference in my life and marriage when I’m consistent vs not. The Bible does say it’s easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven… today we are so distracted with chasing money and the things you can buy with it and yeah that’s amazing to not worry about the next meal or a place to sleep but today I was reading how so many people in the Bible found rest/were able to worship no matter the circumstance because they knew who their trust is in. Definitely wasn’t in the money 😅

I usually walk around 30-40k steps. Early morning get around 10k. Then go to work and will get around 4k more. Then another walk at lunch to 20k. Then the other steps are made up between meals… listening to podcasts always helps. Mind pump has been on top so far for me.

@ Thanks - its not easy, have to be on track for it to work... I normally get a workout in early morning when gym opens around 6am - get a few in there, then go to work for 8am, around 9:30ish I'll go to the local park to get over 10k (and some body weights in the out door gym stuff)... then its to outreaches and get a few k there, after that, for lunch ill get another 6-7 in to hit 20k... Then 4pm eat - go for a walk around 4:30 and thats another 7k, and after that, if im not too lazy - will finish off with a walk either last meal of the day or just before to hit at least 30k in the day... for 40k ill usually eat at 6pm - go for a walk, then eat 8/8:30pm - go for another walk... and this is in the UK, so the weather is awful!! lol

The one scenario where walking isnt ideal is if im tight on time ill almost always push the intensity in those situations. High intensity is a way to get more out of condensed periods.

Walking is great just as a state of being. The modern world makes us think our default state is sitting down and physically this throws us out of balance if overdone. Assuming you spend 8 hours of your day sleeping in a bed, you can be on your feet almost all of the rest of the time and actually be in a better spot physically than the crutch of constant sitting.

I’d be curious about that study about reading the Bible, whether or not it would apply to believers and non believers or believers of other faiths the same way. As I’ve personally read the Bible cover to cover 3 times in my life and never found such benefits, granted to finish it completely repeatedly, I obviously had to read it daily for long periods of time. I find it a very interesting narrative on ancient Israeli mythology and history, however, I never found it beneficial in my life in any applicable ways. So, do you think it would hit the same for atheists, Hindus, or Muslims? I’ve also read the Bhagavad Gita, and DID find that a bit more insightful and applicable to life. But, the Bible…not so much. It’s funny, despite being a non believer, to this day I enjoy reading and listening to Bible scholars discuss the Bible, its origins, and what it means.

I haven’t listened to the episode yet but I wish I could have a conversation with somebody about walking and fat loss. I am a mailman who probably puts in 25,000 steps a day. If not more. But I struggle with fat loss. I don’t have a ton of fat to lose granted, but it’s still a struggle. And there’s a lot of carriers who are overweight. So I kind of wonder if your body adapts to walking and its effect wears off.

@ it’s really not terrible. I don’t count calories, maybe I should, I just kinda eyeball it and make sure I get at least close to my protein target. But I just feel that with all the walking combined with weight training especially I should be losing fat, not gaining or maintaining.

What the average American spends on monthly fees and prescription services has broken us. But we "deserve" it. People are unwilling to live beneath their means in the never-ending chase for more stuff.

Regarding the Bible reading: my suggestion is to read a study Bible. I read the new living translation that has explanations for each verse. It explains the context and culture during that time. Also, it is good to go to a Bible study. I read my Bible seven days a week for 15 minutes before I start my day. It really has changed my life. I see God working in many ways on a daily basis.

The economics discussion is wrong. In the 60's the average car price was about 40% of the average annual income and the average house was only about 2 or 3 times the average income. Now cars are 1 years income and houses are generally 7-8 times your annual. Buying a 1k phone every 3 years has 0 effect on not being able to save up 3 years salary for a down payment. Also the reason they didnt eat out was because the wife stayed home. You guys got things reversed saying the wife could stay home because they didnt eat out lol.

1 Timothy 4:8 AMPC [8] For physical training is of some value (useful for a little), but godliness (spiritual training) is useful and of value in everything and in every way, for it holds promise for the present life and also for the life which is to come. I will try to read the Bible for the next four days consecutively, so help me Jesus 🙏

As far as the electrical stimulation machine things, are we sure that it doesn’t build any muscle? I bought one like 20 years ago for a ton of money maybe like seven or $800. I just recently thought about using it again for my abs and here’s why. I think it would be better than doing nothing for my abs or very little. I struggle doing my abs a big part of that is it’s at the end of my workout and I’m already really tired and spent a lot of time working out. Like if I’m following a maps program like we are right now, anabolic, I usually tell myself I’ll do it later. And then I don’t. It’s a pretty gruesome workout for me maybe it’s just me but it’s like the one thing I hate doing. But I want to get some abs. Would it be more beneficial for me that I’m at least doing something and use the electric stimulation thing? Or buy one that is super specific for abs and not that expensive? Don’t get me wrong I would rather just do the exercise but knowing my behavior that I’m always fighting against, maybe I would come out more on top if I just do the other thing. Besides it makes for some family fun to see me suffer through an intense session with the ab stimulation 😂

I get the bible thing.when it comes down to it the bible is content and the content you consume plays a role in shaping your mind. i remember periods in the past where i was hooked on flicking through garbage on instagram. I reached the point where i was like id rather just drink alcohol and do drugs all day than keep flicking through social media. Now i didnt do that but it goes to show how polluting the mind with garbage content can influence other crappy decisions. I would imagine good content can produce opposite effects.
