It's so easy to overlook the form in lifts like this. Your guidance on the pre-lift setup is really useful.

Jordan's self-deprecation aside at the beginning, his sumo tutorial is clear, helpful, and showcases his talents as a trainer who is able to communicate important technique points to ordinary people in an effective way. I have always performed conventional deadlifting because sumo never felt right to me but I never had Jordan teach it to me until now, so I'm excited to give it another go. Thanks so much, Jordan!

I've pretty much only done sumo deadlifts. I'm the only person in the gym that does them. Not many people overall do full deadlifts and the ones that do go the traditional way. I do get some odd looks, but the form just feels so much more natural for my body type. My favorite exercise. I do about 40 reps over 5 sets and then I'm ready for bed.

He doesn't mention, but I find it easier, to set my back flat in a sumo deadlift, than to set a flat back with a regular deadlift, which takes me some time and warming up. The Sumo is a little bit more upright, an engaged back seems to come easier.
@patrickwoehrer4 жыл бұрын
I feel the same way! I have pretty tight hamstrings and I always squatted the bar up with my conventional dead lift or rounded my back and did hurt myself... but with sumo it's much easier to get the back straight 💪
