It's surprising that so many have taken Aegon beleiving Sunfyre is dead at face value. Literally part of Sunfyre's book story is that him showing up again at *that destination* is a surprise - is it not obvious that the show is making us think that Sunfyre is gone, so when he does show back up its a surprise?

Sunfyre after he is better will go to Dragonstone, where Aegon will be in the future..and after dear Queen escapes the Kings Landing she will go to the Dragonstone and there she will be killed by Aegon and his dragon....while her son watches..the Aegon 3 the one who will rule after Aegon 2 is killed by poison, as I remember, I have to check this. The main important story in the books will not be change, but some random stuff will be, as they did ..but those things could be seen as people lying or not knowing the real truth, but the main story is set in stone.

Either that, or they replace Sunfyre's role with Tessarion. After all, in Game of Thrones Joffrey Baratheon says that "Rhaenyra was murdered by his brother and his dragon" but doesn't specify which brother and which dragon. Perhaps it was credited to Sunfyre instead to make Aegon and the Greens look better in historical propaganda? Not too far-fetched, given they seem to be having Rhaena tame Sheepstealer and thus adapting out both Nettles (Sheepstealer's book rider) and Morning (Rhaena's book dragon).

We won't see the The cannibal. "MARK MY WORDS". If he doesn't appear in the Season2's Dragon Seeds story, he has no story or place in The Show. And there are no mentions of other dragons in Dragonstone. And They definitely need one or more dragons than Dreamfyre for the final scene in Dragonpit.

Since they are adlibbing so much at this point. Why not have Aemond have another fit after hearing Rhaenyra took King's landing, have him approach an dragonless Dragonstone from the south to level the place. Waking the Cannibal for a fight with Vhagar, leaving her injured further justifying Daemon's actions over the God's Eye. Just a thought for a fan service scene.

the animators for the dragons stated they all have all 3 wild dragon designs done and ready so we will be seeing both cannibal and grey ghost soon but we will likely only see grey ghosts body as a corpse after his fight with sunfyre (assuming they didn't kill him off in the show as it was revealed guards were left by her body but for whatever reason aegon has been kept in the dark regarding her possibly being alive) so they can just animate a prop for a few seconds or a minute or 2 then we never see grey ghost again, as for cannibal he will prob show up after some major battle(s) as his role in the books is to symbolize the blacks and greens destroying house targ and the dragons during the dance as cannibals the giant vulture that shows up after battles to symbolize that hence why he is a black dragon with green eyes that spews green flames to represent the blacks and greens cannibalizing house targ with there war.

A ton of people falsely claim that the cannibal is as big or larger than Balerion but that's never been remotely implied. Just because some dudes made up that he might be older doesn't prove he's as big. Vhagar is outright stated to be the largest dragon alive, and vermithor the 2nd biggest.

Thats the thing that gets me. Meraxes was younger than Vhagar but grew larger faster. Vermithore is around the same age as Silverwing yet MUCH larger. While age means you're large, it doesnt guarantee you being on the same scale as certain behemoths.

i think it wil depend on which type of dragon he is, you know if he is the Trex kind like Balerion and Vhagar, Horse type like Syrax, aarax, verrax, Moondancer or wolf types like Malexs, Craxes, sunfyre, dreamfyre. but if he is a different altogether type of dragon like how sheepstealer turned out there is more room for question to how large he could be.

@@rev0568You’re factually wrong about this one. Vhagar was the youngest of the 3 dragons of the conquest, its only that Rhaenys was the youngest sister. Also The Cannibal was probably the largest dragon in the world at the time. The show makes a sure distinction but by book lore his size was never clear, but while not sure in him being the biggest, he was/is for sure the oldest dragon in the world, since he already lived in Dragonstone before the Targaryens arrived (which would make him older than Vhagar and probably older than Balerion who was a young dragon by the time the Targaryens left Valyria).

Because it’s open for speculation. Based on the rules implied, the size of the dragon is based on how and where it lives, and how old it is. The info available on the cannibal is that it might be in the land way before Balerion was, it also eats dragons, and it’s a wild one. Based on that, it might’ve eaten mostly livestock and wild animals AND everything else that agitates it. If he can absorb those dragon nutrients in his sometimes meal then it’s not that much of a stretch to think he could be as big if not bigger than Balerion.

Correct me if I’m wrong, don’t all of Dany’s dragons obey her and fight along side her when she rides Drogon i.e. when Dany has multiple targets and commands dracarys, all the dragons attack. The show does things very differently. In the books, dragons listen to one rider, and a rider only bonds with one dragon ever, even if the first dragon dies. Also in the books, as Dany's dragons grow older, they become restless and begin misbehaving, resulting in her having to pen them up under one of the pyramids in the city she makes her capitol out of. Only drogon escapes this, flying away. When he returns to the city and Dany flies away on him, a tampering character trying to claim one of her dragons is killed in the attempt and Rhaegal and Viserion escape, taking orders from no one. In HOTD, it's stated that a dragon will not go to battle unless ridden by a human to command them, unlike GOT where Dany can command all three from Drogon. So the lore in HOTD is correct, Dany in GOT technically should not have been able to command Rhaegal and Viserion

I like the theory of the Cannibal being a metaphor to the dance of dragons theme, seeing as its black with green eyes it represents the greens and blacks eating each other alive. Hence the Cannibal, the mysteriousness surrounding it is speculative, its habits and whereabouts inconsistent. If they show the Cannibal I would say its the same size if not bigger than Vegar considering its wild and feast on flesh of its kind.

Personally, I would like Cannibal to be about the size of Vermithor, or between Vhagar and Vermithor (I don't want it to be too big because the bigger and older the dragon, the slower it becomes.......Sorry Vhagar LOL), partly because I tend to believe it's a dragon that was born before or little after the Targaryen came to Dragonstone. It depends on which theory you believe. If Cannibal was born before the Targaryen moved in then it's around 200 years old (older than Vhagar). If Cannibal was born after then it's harder to guess but it's probably before the Conquest. At the very least, it should be the same gen as Vhagar, because if it was born after that, it would start to look weird. Dragons that born after the conquest are unlikely to be very large during the conquest. If Cannibal was born at the same time as other dragons, it would be difficult for its behavior to occur (eating their own kind from a young age and still surviving). Dragons grow at different rates, although older doesn't always mean bigger. As for the idea that it would eat Vermithor if it was that big, I don't really believe it, because I think that eating one of its own kind would only happen to something completely defenseless, like a baby dragon or dragon egg, or else Grey Ghost or the Sheepstealer would have been finished as well. Any wild animal looks for easy food and they must survive after the hunt with the least injury possible. That supports the idea that even though it has been nesting on the island for a long time, it seems like the characters in the story wouldn't be worried about its dragon-eating behavior, because if it were going to eat them indiscriminately, they should be worried that their dragons would be attacked by it, because most of their dragons would be smaller than it, for sure.

As much as many folks want to see a Balerion sized black dragon, hell even a Vermithor sized one to say the least. Such dragon to exist and continue to feast on other dragons is severely a stretch. If thats the case, all Targaryan dragons would already have became a nice meal for the cannibal because no other dragon can contest it not even Vhagar or Vermithor. It will only make sense if its a small nest raider.

If you want to think of it logically NO large predator alive today will hunt another large predator. Even in fights over territory the larger animal will seldom go for the kill because it means injury. Even if Cannibal was Vhagar sized why would it go after a large dragon that can potentially break its wing or another small injury that can mean starvation. Animals target the weak, injured and young. Now for dramatic effect there's NO chance they bring Cannibal in HOTD for him to be small. That's just a waste of money for that kind of cgi. He will 100% be Vermithor's size to bring in viewers.

The problem is the cannibal's lore, where it was able to sustain itself far past Balerion by consuming other dragons where there is not too many dragons to go around. Why would the royal family, dragon pit guards, and lastly the dragon parents themselves just let this dragon waltz in and take out juveniles/eggs. Obviously any ridable dragon has not been slain by then cannibal, so for sure this thing is a nest raider. This is why it is so difficult to include cannibal in the live action because there are so many questionable things where a dragon like this could fit on a niche without triggering the targaryans black or green to take action and eliminate this unusual dragon. Its like okay 1 dragon egg from syrax=50 more years of life span etc.. its just hard its a head scratcher for sure!

Cannibal is most likely the hatchling from the egg meant to be for Maegor the Cruel. We are told he rejected eggs or dragons presented to him, and accept only Balerion... but by the time he was in a "bonding age" (Teenage years) only 3 dragons existed; Balerion, Vhagar and Quicksilver (as Meraxes if im not being mistaken had already passed). So who was that other hatchling that he rejected? Due to dates is likely to be the cannibal (the only one to fit in the timeperiod) and just as Maegor, he preys on his own kind (like he did with Viserys, Rhaena, Jaehaerys and Alysanne) but also strengheting the line.

Would it be possible that they changed their minds or simply did not tell us the truth about the dragon count? Because leaving off any of the wild dragons would be odd. Daemon said there were 3 wild dragons on Dragonstone. Which would NOT include Sheep Stealer since that one is said to be roaming the vale. Therefore the 3 wild dragons would be Cannibal, Grey Ghost & 1 other one. The only dragons I could see the show just cutting completely would be the ones for Aegon's kids. I also don't think Cannibal is near the size of the biggest dragons in the series. It was never implied in the show or book that there was any dragon close to Vhagar size apart from Vermithor and maybe Dreamfyre. So I am finding it odd why some folks are saying he is not only bigger than Vhagar but also Balerion. If he was that massive, Daemon or Rhaenyra for sure would have mentioned his impressive size. Instead, Daemon just lumped him in with the rest as "3 wild dragons." Its also possible that that Daemon line was wrong and he indeed meant to include Sheepstealer with the other 2. But then the showrunners would have to retcon in order to explain how or why tf would it leave Dragonstone so quickly all of a sudden all the way to the Vale. They'd also have to retcon the timeline too. Would be such a gigantic blunder for professionals. Which is why I think that we're actually getting more than 17. Think about it though, why would a creator of a series just come out and literally spoil one of the biggest mysteries and tell you specifically how many dragons you'll get on screen. Normally they would try to hold stuff like that as a secret or just tell you part of the truth. Do not hold the 17 dragons count as gospel. Another thing to add... its not confirmed if Rhaena will claim Sheepstealer. We could still get Nettles next season. Like maybe they do the storyline in a way where Nettles either has already claimed the dragon or very close to. And thus stops Rhaena because she (Nettles) don't want to send that dragon to a bloody war and eventual death. It could lead to an even more interesting arc for Rhaena and add more depth to her character to view the dragons in a different light. We don't need a Baela 2.0 if the writers have any sense.

OR they could show us 17 during the dance itself but then after the war is done and we're in the last 1 or 2 episodes, show us more and say "well what we meant was that we'll show 17 as active dragons during the main event." I've been at this long enough to know some of the tricky languages creators use.

I would love for The Cannibal to have a similar design to Faluzure from Dungeons and Dragons. In that material, he is a black dragon god. The design they use in a D&D movie called, Wrath of the Dragon God. I'd love to see a similar design with a ghost green eye color like we see in Minas Morgul from Return of the King. Even if he is slightly smaller, it would definitely give him a menacing look that is appropriate to the name. Ironically, it also would be similar to the color of wildfire in Game of Thrones, so that would be a neat easter egg.

I think the cannibal could be utilized well as a wild card dragon that has no alligence but to himself and only shows up and does things when he's out for a meal or disturbed somehow. They could have the characters share rumors in the background about this old wild dragon after the sighting of sheepstealer in the end of the second season and then suddenly he appears and does something impactful like attack one of the dragons and eat it and that could lead the characters to sort of direct him for their goals with him being so powerful and unpredictable. Of course it would ultimately backfire and not work with him being a wild dangerous animal

The cannibal was the baby dragon or dragon egg maegor didn't want because he wanted balerion, fire and blood stated that when aegon was alive there were some eggs and hatchlings as Aenys had quickSilver and everyone expected maegor to pick one from dragonstone but never did and with only balerion, meraxes and vhagar at the time that egg was probably quickSilver brother especially since cannibal acts like maegor a bit, but this means cannibal is balerion son and is the second batch of dragonstone eggs along with quickSilver Making them older then dreamfyre,vermithor and silverwing

The only way I can think of that is to either gather a bunch of dead dragons and do a nettles on him, or just elude to him being a different breed and then use that as a mystery point. Cannibal doen't only eat other dragons, it eats other stuff too, like humans for instance. So it won't be a problem to the number of dragons. I doubt that we will ever see it since, even in the books, reports of witnesses are so rare.

I doubt that the last dragon we'll see in the show will be the Cannibal. He plays no part in the story of the Dance at all besides the Red Sowing and that was changed to only involve Vermithor and Silverwing. I think the last dragon we'll get will probably be Morning. Regardless of who it bonds to, if anyone, it will be effectively the last Targaryen dragon by the end of the Dance. So she will probably hatch at the very very end of the show.

Not much mystery here. They had production comments about Cannibal going back to s1. So he is it Lots of overhyping here for a dragon that happened to be a scavenger of dead dragons and dragon eggs and once killed and ate a small wild dragon that ventured into his territory. Hardly some kind of rival to the Targaryen dragons of Dragonstone.

Heres my thing... dragonstone is only an island, the cannibal should have been easy to find and hard to miss..he would be out hunting daily and if his size age and diet is what you say all the dragons would be in peril as their riders rode them flying from here to there....we should see him attacking them often as they are his source of food

It's not going to be Cannibal, he really serves no purpose to House of the Dragon except to eat Silver Denys but he was killed by Vermithor in the show. The only other dragon that could be shown is Grey Ghost who's supposed to get eaten by Sunfyre but if they're only going to show 1 more dragon it'll probably be Morning at the end of the series.

The show may change how Rhaenyra dies. In the books she was a rude and heartless queen. But in the show they are showing her to be very good and kind. The show will still make her die due to dragon fire. But that may be her wish to die that way. Aegon may want to kill her by taking her head. Then Rhaenyra will bravery request Aegon to kill her by dragon fire as a true Targaryen. In that way Rhaenyra will die a heroic death and her fans will not feel humiliated the way GOT humiliated us the fans of Daenerys Targaryen by turning her into the mad queen and then killing her.

i think Cannbal will be the dragon we will see but i think he should be about size of dragons on Dragon Stone maybe little bigger and i know you have valid point if he was this size he wold try to eat vermithor or other dragons but like from what we know he was eating egg or small dragons (correct me if im wrong) and if we take poit that dragons are very inteligent creatures from some age the dragons will avoid mayor conflicts bcs they know it would be very ugly for both of them and they could have something like hierarchy or something like that but we will see

What about "the last dragon" the unnamed dragon that was said to be the size of a cat or dog, that would probably aegon lll dragon, and aeg 3 got the title dragon bane killing the surviving dragons, it could be that this is the missing dragon which could come up at the end of season 4 after aeg 2 is killed and aeg 3 rises to the throne
