Apparently they broke a couple cameras during filming, and had to resort to use a go pros for a few scenes… after seeing the fights, I can believe it lol
@antoniochasten31925 ай бұрын
Not only cameras. Dev Patel broke his toes and his hand. Notice the scenes where his hand is wrapped? That's the broken hand. Had surgery to put a screw in to heal his hand and dude went back to work a day later. Doctor told him his hand can take only 2 lbs of pressure so if he hurts his hand then taking the screw out would be like taking a bent nail out of wood. It would ruin the bone. So the scenes where you see him basically using one hand/arm to fight is why.

I believe it was phones, not GoPros, but you can actually notice the difference during the underwater moments before his training. The lighting being so dark causes the quality to go down, I was able to see it instantly because I also like to use my phone 😭 I love seeing it. He got the scenes he wanted even if it meant a loss in quality.

This film was a true delight. The action is well done but for me the most satisfying thing about it was the unashamed linking of the themes to politics, and the atmosphere, especially backed by the soundtrack. It's such a great cinematic experience. The Indian metal by the way is from a band called Bloodywood and they absolutely rule, their album is totally independently produced and it's awesome. They do a kick-ass cover of Mundian Te Bach Ke Rahi which is worth checking out.

To further cement Dev Patel''s level of badassery, he broke several toes and developed swollen foot syndrome, his hand (had surgery on said hand, screw in and all, and relearned fight scenes one-handed), tore his shoulder, and to top it off, got eye infections from the bathroom fight scene takes (due to the bathroom flooding and takes lasting over three days). He continued to film and fight, even with the multiple injuries because he was worried that if he couldn't do the role, the movie would never go anywhere.

I really want to emphasis that what baba said about ravan is a known fact, his race was demon but he was the smartest and most intellectual person to live during that time, and a devotee of Shiva actually.I think they didn’t ban but never released it. You can still stream it in India I guess. As for representation of Hijras in Indian media, many modern cinema and tv shows have come out exploring them. Even though its still a touchy subject but I was raised in India to respect them and akin their disrespect to a sin. Like any other country, India has its own problem dealing with LGBTQ for sure, but there is representation for them and they are ostracized socially but they have rights under the laws. And if you’re looking for religious commentary on India you can find many indie movies, regional movies, online shows and even a mainstream bollywood movie “Oh My God!” which is an adaptation of a play itself and is phenomenal.

Highlighting the trans community and how they've always existed in religion and real life throughout history before western colonialism and this obsession with erasing them/pretending they're some new trend, was so important and beautiful. Showing them in such a lovely way and humanising them is something you never see in more mainstream movies. The creativity with the shots and violence was incredible. Even recently I saw a news where a group of people forced to move out of the govt land which they have been living for generations.
