Thank you so much for a possible future dream. In the very early 1980's we decided on a special vacation. 2 months traveling Florida with our VW camper and young son. We started camping in camp grounds and decided on spots in the middle of no where. We saw 2 ruts going into the everglades that ended up by a stream about 2 blocks in About 3 am my wife started to open the camper door to jump out. I warned her to take a light because we don't know what's out there. She sat up by the door until day break. We camped in a camp ground next to the a highway. It was crowded noisy and everything we didn't want. We next stayed at Bahia Honda state park. It was full except a tent site. They let us stay a week and left with new friends. Not wanting another camp ground,we found an old submarine pit and meet some of the lost souls of America. We fished together,fish fry's together and shared life's stories together We finally ended up at the end of the road. Camped around Key West Walmart.....different streets and parks. I wanted to share how wonderful it is even in a basic RV or camper. I'm now 74 and need a new adventure camping.

My favorite one was the 1961 Holiday House. I like the room, it was pretty well thought out in design, lots of decent amenities and I dig the styling of the outside of it. I like the louver glass windows. You can keep them open during rain storms for ventilation without the inside getting wet. I miss windows like that, they are handy. I wouldn't want to tow that beast though, that thing is huge!

Man, I'd love to have that VW camper! I had 2 standard VW buses in the past, and they were both good little workhorses. The camper would be a blast, especially with a modded 2180 cc engine to drag it around at an acceptable speed.😍👍

Your number one. A company in South Africa used the Kombi to manufacture quite a few thousand campers that look similar to your number one. It resembles a caravan on the rear of the cab. It was extremely popular. I believe the company was called Jurgens Caravans.

I'm so very happy to be able to comment regarding the 15 very unusual campers and the very vivid dreams of of another member of the human races' renditions of their ideal camper. I had a lot of camping fun in my past. I never got my fill of it. Now that folks are actually living in campers full-time I'm really jealous. I'm a 70 years young widow now and I cannot afford one. It's a shame because when my children were grown I went to work with my husband on his semi. I loved driving a rig. Times that he was ill for months at a time I drove solo across the US. We didn't want to loose our company truck. Seven years ago this month he died from cancer. Thanks for bringing back some fun memories for me and you' ve probably helped a few others also. Very Sincerely, Teresa Newby

The Holiday House Model X restored by Flyte Camp is the most gorgeous Trailer I've ever seen. And the Re-imagined interior is drop-dead Beautiful. Obviously designed by a very talented Decorator. Better Homes & Garden stuff all the way. Trying to think of a worthy tow vehicle for it. Maybe a Restomod "59 Rambler Station Wagon painted to match with a Big Honkin' Motor and a modern towing suspension. Fantastic video. Loved all the designs except maybe for the Post Apocalyptic, Dystopian looking "What the Hell is That?" Gotta love that name though. Liked & Subscribed.

My favorite was Number Five, the Holiday House Model "X"! On the other hand, though, my current "motorhome" is based upon a U.S. military XM-811A gullwing shop van, which has been accoutered to qualify as a motorhome under California DMV requirements. It started life as a vehicle from "Willys-Jeep" in 1971. Yeah, it's as slow as can be and gets only 4.6 MPG, but it's unstoppable off-road and can surmount a grade of 80% in soft sand. Furthermore, it is still in "Woodland Camo" livery, and it inspires sweet, young things to expose their mammary apparatus to me as I drive down the road. AND, it's a convertible!
@studiokohl15 жыл бұрын
the vw snail thingy wins in my mind. My uncle built his own motorhome aka the bucket of bolts. I was around 7 when he started and I was lucky enough to get to help. he started with a 1960's flatbed truck. this was in the early 70s. when he finished I was about 9. we took that think all over the western US. we are from az and took it to Montana many times. it looks plain on the outside but very 1970s inside. he was swindled out if it in the 90s and we have no idea where it went.

I think I love the Holiday House best. Flyte Camp does great work. The one that really got my attention was the Ford Camper Car. When I was little, my father made one for our Pontiac Catalina Wagon out of three 4x12 plywood sheets and an Army surplus tent. Two of the sheets hinged over the side of the car with adjustable poles hinging and locking into place. The inside cavity had the tent attached so that he just pushed in the poles to raise the tent atop the car. A step ladder attached and extended down to the ground allowing easy access. Sleeping bags and bedding remained inside. Also inside were three wood trays that he lifted out on to the open tail gate creating a kitchen. A 12x6 foot sun/rain awning was attached to the back edge and could be extended when desired. To this day, the thing that most impresses me is that the whole thing could be set up anywhere in less than 5 minutes by one person and sleep a family of seven comfortably.
