Luka doncic is basically pick your poison overall when you guard a guy like that because he's also a very good passer and get his teammates open shots overall.🏀💯
@NastyStacks
@NastyStacks 7 ай бұрын
The best way to guard this era pick and rolls with the 1 and 5 is you switch the five 5 prior to the pick. There's a moment in time when the Offensive 5 is setting the screen and, there is about a 1-2 second gap where the ball handler makes a decision. So what you do depending on the side the pick is you send the 3-4-2 while the big switches to the wing or corner. To stop Celtics make them run sets where the first and second option is broken. They run on a metronome when the beat is broken they are broken as a team. Would love a job! Please contact

Tell me you don’t know ball, without telling me you don’t know ball. You know why this can be a question for Luka and not for lebron ? Because lebron was once successfully guarded by JJ barea and a late in his career Jkidd in the NBA finals. Luka would see those 2 and he would say: “BBQ chicken”. I respect lebron, but he ain’t in the offensive class that Luka is. That’s why you can’t ask this question to lebron, because then numbers would be brought up and his fanboys wouldn’t like the answer…

Bron is 100% on point with blitzing after the switch, particularly in final 2 minutes of quarters. That’s why he is the most blitzed player in the NBA, and then when you add the fact that he will give you the ball 5-7 times a game too, especially when you blitz him and he doesn’t want to give it up! Blitzing is the only option

Brown on Luka pushing him to Porzingas should help. Trapping him won’t work cause he is a great passer. The Celtics will handle Luka just fine but it’s going 7 games. Tater gets his first Finals MVP & Ring.

Pretty good analysis, but... Brown is already frontrunner for Finals MVP while not guarding Luka exclusively (Brown's scored, defended, been more efficient, and hustled a bit more than Tatum). The Celtics switched some, mixed in some "Jordan rules" defense (dare the "others" to beat them [while also applying pressure on Kyrie is the new twist from the Celtics] ), and keep Luka further out of the spots he likes. The Celtics showed me some real... new character in the first two Finals games, they want this more.

@@williestyle35 Yeah the whole team really wants Tatum to get a ring. KP too. I really want that too even though I do like Mavs. I’ve always liked the Celtics since the Bird days.

I won’t lie at first i wasn’t a fan of Jason Kidd’s offense. I felt like it was too much one on one at the top of the key. Now I realize that it’s done on purpose to make it harder for the defense to double team Luka/Kyrie and gives them plenty of options in the pick and roll.

Damn this was a good idea. JJ was right. Talking heads should be helping fans understand the game. If you’re talented enough like these guys you can entertain and educate. As for the topic, Luka’s ability to hit tough shots is up there with prime Harden. You gotta get that ball out of his hand and to a less capable teammate or worse case stay in front of him.

One play doesn't always define a series, but that possession probably is the closest thing to it. You could've lived with Lively getting a dunk (everyone on the perimeter staying home), tying it up, and having more than enough time to try and win it down on the other end. Yeah if it went into OT and you still lost that's a different convo, but that play exemplified the difference between a team lead by folks who've been there vs young inexperienced folks...they didn't even give themselves a chance with that play.

@williestyle35
@williestyle35 7 ай бұрын
He kinda didn't. Joe mostly let his defenders work against Luka, some switching, a couple of traps, a few hard blitzes. Hate to say it, but... the Celtics reused a few of the "Jordan rules" = namely dare all the others not named Luka and Kyrie to do anything to beat them. Dallas has gotten so little out of P J Washington, Daniel Gafford, Hardaway Jr, and even Derrick Lively II & Derrick Jones Jr have struggled often. And Dallas has some weird player rotations going, I can't say why they have barely used Dante Exum or Jaden Henry, and only a little of Josh Green - and Maxi Kleber has not been productive since his injury. So, the Mavericks are down 0 - 2 coming home to Dallas, with an uphill struggle to get wins on a Celtics team that knows this is their Finals to finally break all the way through. Celtics been here, only Kyrie on Mavs has been here (and it looks like the Boston scheme and their fans have gotten to him somewhat, so far.. ).

you blitz luka, he gonna make a pass and force a turnover or pray that the open guy misses. but if you dont blitz him, hes gonna cook. Luka is a special player. but is also a very clutch player (seen many times). its impossible to guard him 1 v 1. none in that celtics team can guard him. best thing to do is pray lol. its still a mystery on how to defend luka.

If Kyrie was really your guy, you would’ve made sure that team USA had Kyrie in it. Stop saying you wish he was on your team. When it benefits you, you want Kyrie but if Kyrie gets to win gold with team USA, he doesn’t get included.

We all know Luka is great and can punish you various ways, he's getting his credit. I'm going to bring a little bit of constructive criticism though. Luka either gets overconfident of just impatient at crucial times. In a few games when his team is on a run, has momentum and up 8-10 points he starts jacking logo 3's, it kills momentum and other team comes back. Other times when momentum is theirs and team runs a fast break with wings open, he holds the ball and messes a tough shot. The Mavs defense usually bails them out but a lot of these games were super close. For the most part Luka makes the right decision and you can't ask for 100% perfection but you want to finish a team off when you have them on the ropes, gotta recognize the situation and go for the highest percentage shot. Against Boston this is important, look how Indiana let them off the hook. If Luka cuts down on these low percentage moves in crucial junctions of the game, the team will truly be unstoppable.
