excellent match, I'm sure your awareness/tactics will get better with some more games, your build order/schemes are already top tier, and you were expanding faster than YS so just need to take the better fights and you've put all the pieces together! Great to see you back posting vids! I'm always an advocate of attacking faster, I think it would've helped here too, but I'm also not good at building such a big economy or setting up for the super late game. Cool idea with the quasar forts too!

I definitely agree, attacking while I had the unit advantage probably would have swayed the game in my favor. The quasar forts didn't really do much this game tbh, but thanks for the compliment haha

To me, Mindustry PvP and even some PvP in PvE game can feel somewhat intimidating for me to jump in. the pacing in Mindustry can feel pretty tight sometime even with ability to pause in single player or being a host. so, the thought of unable to pause and having to catch up with multiple players can feel like kinda terrifying.

LOL if ur not a PvP player you won't understand. The pressure of facing off against a skilled opponent, and not being able to pause and think about your next steps makes it easy to allow little mistakes and fumbles to come to light.

@googlygoo4575 I do play PvP, just not as much as you, due to my internet problems, and still, even if player is skilled, so what? You are saying that if player is skilled, you will be under pressure? If you are under pressure and you are a PvP player, you should at least be used to it? I mean, usually if you are a good player and you are under pressure,you will probably be in a hurry, but that won't justify 80% of mistakes... Anyways, I just wrote my comment cause conveyors hurted my eyes, I played PvP a lot of times through the time (but I don't play often), and man, you lost a lot of time with such placement

I hate this with every part of my being lol. Corvus are SO nice, and really dont cost much, its like a 1-3 ratios of corvus to vela, and 10 corvus wins the game outwright

Ok, I shall now rebut you, and prove that corvus are good. Here are the errors you made in your comparison. 1) You're t5 factory is not tps resistant. This means that you will be making a tiny fraction of the corvus you SHOULD be making. I b3lieve with the factory you made, it is likely around 1/4 of the corvus you SHOULD have. 2)you are massively overestimating how many vela you need for the same amount of corvus. It is a 1-3ish ratio, not 1-10 or smth, as most players believe. This very much changes how the corvus is portrayed in comparison to vela, as the comparison is much closer in terms of cost. A single corvus factory costs about the same amount to run as a t4 factory, just produces slower. 3) I mean no offense by this, but your micro of the corvus was awful. You spent the entire time trying to attack the same walls, instead of attacking different ones, forcing them to put up a wall over their entire base. 4) after getting 10ish corvus, you win the ENTIRE game. Even if the are less effective beforehand, the fact that core captures are completely free, as you don't lose units to take them, means the 10 corvus takes the entire base, not just 1 or 2 hexes. (10 is because you need about that much to one tap plast walls.) This means that if you spent the same amount of res on corvus, as you did on vela, the game would be over in 50 minutes, maybe 60. 5) You built many, many more vela than corvus, then said that the corvus were bad, even though you had spent around 20x the cost on vela than corvus, EXCLUDING the tps issue of the corvus factory. 6) you didn't build a strong fort wall to deal with his vela. This caused you to lose cores reasonably fast, and that meant he was putting pressure on you with t4, not the other way around with t5. So in conclusion, what you did in this comparison was as follows (metaphor using unit vs unit, in what units are strongest. Toxopid represents vela.) You brought toxopid against corvus. You entirely dissallowed the corvus to attack the toxopid WHATSOEVER (representing bad micro, and gamesense of how to use corvus). You then paired up 3 corvus vs 80 toxopid, whilst still dissallowing the corvus to shoot at the toxopids. (This ratio represents the absurd difference in production, and also the tps factory issues.) You then said that corvus are garbage and should never be used, because they lost the fight. See the issue? Using corvus requires an understanding of how to use them, what the strategy is, non tps killable schematics, proper forts, and a fair comparison. You had NONE of these. The 80 to 3 ratio is actually MUCH better than I worked it out to be in terms of production, but I gave VERY large leeway, as penalised the vela factories were getting killed by tps too or smth. When I worked it out it was more like 3 -170 (I think). I would be GLAD to play you in a game to display this. The big thing i think you dont understand, is that they ARE bad, as they are very counterable, butonce you get any sort of valueable amount of them, they win the game outwright. Building a functional corvus fact (even if only 1) puts a ~15 minute timer on the game, where it you are not dead by then you have won the entire thing. So, to summerize, it is not corvus that are bad, it is you. (No offense, but unfortunately true in this case).

Over the whole match, I believe you could have EASILY made 50 corvus. 10 to 15 are needed to wipe a base off the map. And don't try to convince me that the vela helped you defend. They did not. At all.

@@virogens that all makes a lot of sense! Thanks for the explanation. I realize now that a lot of my schemes are not very low-TPS friendly, so I may have to rework them quite a bit. I realize that I made many many mistakes in this game, (defense being the biggest one imo) so it makes sense that all of those would compound on making the corvus seem bad. I will give them another chance, and try to use them more as you described! Thanks again for the detailed explanation!
