Minecraft isn’t a game anymore it’s essentially a genre. Unless they’re creating a brand new concept it won’t be nearly as successful.

Notch had been working on a game after Minecraft. Something to do with magic. Obviously it never materialised and I don’t expect this to either.

I doubt the Minecraft 2 thing will go anywhere. He's announced and cancelled the last 4 games he's worked on, the most prominent being 0x10c.

To be honest, I could care less what "Notch" makes ever again. He's said some really shitty things in the past, and AFAIK has never apologized for any of it, other than saying people who disagree with him about a heterosexual pride month or whatever it was should "use gun" on themselves. He's said other disgusting things as well, but I won't go into it since you may know about it or not. And yeah, his past like 5 games (and all those ludam dare games?) have all gone nowhere as it is. And plus, there's NO WAY Microsoft will let him use the Minecraft name, they've scrubbed him from existence from his own game and former company as it is for all that stuff he's said. So, he didn't announce Minecraft 2, he announced a spiritual successor which I'm sure the TJ guys mentioned in the video (haven't watched it yet).
@safebox362 күн бұрын
@@LordLOC the pride month thing is the least controversial thing Notch has said, he has apologised for his comments on that numerous times over the years every time it's brought up. So credit to him in learning, I guess. The more controversial statements have come in the form of condoning harassment of people with mental health issues and promoting "queue" conspiracies, along with other activities that KZbin keeps deleting my comment for mentioning. Most Minecraft KZbinrs are aware of his actions but don't talk about him beyond acknowledging his role in creating the game, and despite his removal from the game's credits even Microsoft and Mojang still acknowledge Notch in some videos despite his absence in the anniversary video. But he's neither present nor invited to conventions since cutting ties.

It absolutely will. It's a simple matter of waiting until Minecraft 1 loses more profitability. Even if it came out an unfinished mess, the presales alone would cover any dev and marketing costs.
@safebox362 күн бұрын
@@drunkndisorderly83 who knows how long that could be, the game is 14 years old and its most profitable period was its resurgence in popularity on the anniversary year it's gonna be one of those games that stand the test of time, like TF2

Not sure how I feel about MC2. What could possibly be different? ESpecially since the first one is always being worked on still. Seems like he just wants another massive payday. Have a feeling it will flop.

Minecraft 2 actually surprises me. The game is so versatile it doesn't really lend itself well to a sequel. I can think of about fifty games inspired by Minecraft that could qualify as Minecraft 2.
@ShareHolder-gp9ilКүн бұрын
Doesn’t the whole premise of Minecraft kind of defeat the purpose of a sequel? What could you add? I remember back when it was just a beta and every update drastically changed the mechanics and added features.

Xbox will always be the ones holding other consoles and gaming in general back. Their refusal to add any new controller functionality since the 360 is why gyro aiming, among other things, is so rare in console games. It's such a useful feature in the few games with it on PlayStation, and you can implement it in anything on Steam Deck and it makes thumb stick aiming so much better.
@Chris-nw6ws2 күн бұрын
Personally I've tried gyro aiming and hate it. For me the Xbox controller is still by far the best Controller for it's layout and ease of connecting to stuff. I like the adaptive triggers on ps5 for GT7 but it's just a gimmick. Vibration is good though. The touch pad, lights, mic and especially the speaker are all abit of a waste of Time, especially considering how bad the battery life is
@voldrik1364Күн бұрын
@Chris-nw6ws they could implement new features without changing the layout. The PS5 controller is the same layout as the PS1, it can just do more now. And adaptive triggers are just as much a gimmick as having buttons that resemble triggers is, it adds to immersion and adds new possibilities for game mechanics. Returnal uses the adaptive triggers to give each trigger a light pull fire mode and a heavy pull fire mode. There's not really any reason to not implement new controller functionality (except that MS has a deal with Duracell and they don't want to make the controllers drain batteries too fast since Duracell wants to advertise their top tier batteries as having 12 hours of life in Xbox controllers). Not every game has to implement them and players can always toggle them off if they don't like them, so it's just bad for gaming as a whole to force devs to decide between adding features that will only be on some platforms or cutting features that may improve the experience of their games.

I love the trigger features, touchpad, and motion controls Nintendo and Sony have in their controllers. If only more games made use of them.
