The problem for your hopper design is that you need to send it a pulse that is as long as the pulse you want to extend for it to work.
@vuk_ustipak Жыл бұрын
You could hook it up to a T-Flip Flop
@kuboskube Жыл бұрын
You could pull the signal from the output to keep the clock powered to alleviate this, but you will still need to keep it unpowered to give it time to "recharge". Would be slightly larger than before, but still smaller than other pulse extenders. Might be good on a timed circuit with lots of downtime, like a daylight sensor or a 5-min item despawn timer.

I initially thought this video was going to be just tricks for absolute beginners. But yup I was totally wrong. There are some seriously useful stuff in there. Specially that one tick pulse torch
@tama42093 жыл бұрын
I'm a little confused on the pulse extender. From what I can tell the initial pulse powering it has to be somewhat long for it to be somewhat useful. Shorter pulses are only doubled in length, as once the initial pulse is over, the hopper starts funneling back into the one under the torch because its not locked anymore. Basically, when I tried to build it the hopper doesn't have enough time to move a sufficient amount of items to the one connected to the comparator.

Hi Crafty, you're great, really improved my redstone game thanks to you! All of my friends are awed by memory module based combination lock :D Maybe you would consider doing some kind of Mumbo-style showcase of your favourite redstone circuits, that were game-changing for your constructions or just are often used by you because of their compactness or unique mechanic? I feel like you do this great combination of advanced redstone with easy to understand and follow tutorial style videos explaining not only how to buid something but also to understand how it works. Keep up the good job! :D

Isn't the hopper pulse extender potentially unreliable? It doesn't instantly reset. So really, it has other use cases than the repeater based one.
@CraftyMasterman3 жыл бұрын
its not unreliable it just has a cooldown
@sarthakmunda39142 жыл бұрын
@@CraftyMasterman The hopper pulse extender as shown is useless except in certain scenarios. It will only double the pulse length, no matter how many items you throw into the hopper, I assume that's why you used a lever to demonstrate that and kept the lever flicked on? explanation: Let's call the hopper on the left A and the hopper on the right (with the redstone torch and input and comparator)B 1. Initially A is locked by the redstone and B is unlocked. All the items are trapped in hopper A 2. You apply the input to B (be it lever, observer, button etc). It turns off the redstone torch unlocking A, but at the same time locking B (since the block above B is powered by the input). the comparator reads from B giving the output. 3. Let's say that your input was X ticks For X ticks, A was unlocked B was locked, items flowed from A to B. After X, the redstone torch turns back on, A becomes locked and B unlocks, items flow back from B to A. 4. How long is the output pulse? The output is as long as there are items in B. So when there is an input of X ticks, items start flowing from A to B, you start getting the output pulse. Input stays on for X ticks, some amount items flow from A to B. input turns off. The same amount of items flow back from B to A, taking X ticks again. You get an output as long as the items are flowing from A to B, plus how long the items flow back from B to A. So X+X=2X . 5. Input pulse length X, output pulse length is 2X 6. Sucks if your input is short, output length will only be marginally better. I watched your Mumbo rant and I agree with you there. Here you taking a dig at Mumbo, is not just salty, it doesn't help that your redstone is wrong. LOL

It's not the transparent property that makes soulsand let hoppers suck items lol. Glass is a counter example. Hitbox is what plays the role here
