Well, he didn't need them. To solve the puzzle, you had to make a redstone torch and place it on the andesite, not break it. Also the hint makes a lot of science to, because when you craft the torches, it says it can be placed on STONE

They may have done a cut in their video in which they turned the planks into sticks and then threw them through the painting like you did with the wood, but the map creator wouldn't have put something timed like that in the map so that if you were too slow to get through a small hole, that you just couldn't proceed. 😜👍

35:29 Remember how you first discovered that the painting had nothing behind it?? You threw the two planks that you found in one of the chests when the level started behind the painting and then they despawned there.... Also I think messing with the jacuzzi/turning on and off the bathroom lights may have been what was supposed to retract that andesite block because the puzzle is that you have to somehow trigger that double piston extender to lower the andesite block. Pretty sure you weren't supposed to be able to mine the block anyway because if you had broken the andesite block, there's still a piece of slime underneath it that prevents you from being able to press the button in the room underneath too.

I just checked out the map, you had to make a redstone torch using the redstone and sticks, then the torch can be placed on "Stone" which is of course the hint, so place it on the andesite and it retracts. The creator assumed you would make a redstone torch i guess?

Jordan, I have never played the map, but if I had to guess for level four, you should've seen if the banners in the jukebox room had to do with the cauldrons, and if they opened up the andesite room. Because the andesite wasn't meant to be mined, based on the fact there were sticky pistons and slime blocks under it.
