If it doesn't work at the Glass Plattform try 59 Scaffold height. For me it started working at 58. Just keep an eye on them spawning outside and slowly go up 1 level until they only spawn in the square.

Just built a slightly modified version of this on a server for furnace (smoker) exp because I didn't want to lag everyone out with a cactus farm. We drained 24 blocks of ocean on all sides to marginally have it work even without having to use the AFK spot (rates are definitely worse though, we might drain more ocean in the future and build additional modules if the need arises). Built it in a cold ocean, we never have to worry about food, and the exp gained is actually very good. We use three furnace arrays, each with 16 smokers-any more and the items don't distribute fast enough to keep up with the smokers and we're no longer in a divisible of 64, so we just built three. We're currently using the bonemeal to grow birch trees to make charcoal for fuel, but once the autocrafter gets added, we'll make a kelp block farm instead. Honestly, I'm very surprised at how useful it's been.

I noticed later in the comments that it didn't work for some, I was shocked when it didn't work after I did it. If it doesn't work, stay AFK at Y 117 instead of 125, I hope it works. I must be crazy because it worked at Y coordinate 116 in the deep_lukewarmocean biome, but it gives 1/6 of the hourly efficiency than stated in the video. I'm probably on a working server, but the fish spawns stop when they exceed 117(best distance option is 116), so it's probably a server-related issue.

I am so excited. These are one if my favorite farms in PE and they haven't really worked in Java until now. The only rhing I'm confused about is how the water doesn't affect the rails

Only flowing water breaks rails, and all rails are able to be waterlogged since java 1.17

If you're fine with duping, you can duplicate the powered rails; but I do get that life takes a lot of time away from things we'd rather be doing.

Hello. playing java 1.20.4 vanilla/modded, if ur farm wont work, MAKE SURE,YOUR AFK SPOT IS AT 125! and in the middle of the farm(afk spot) also check that u spread the 2nd layer of water correctly(u should see bubbles 2 blocks high in the whole tank.(your welcome !) I can confirm this works in JAVA 1.21. built it on 8/21/24 in JAVA .1.21 and followed the instructions exactly. AFKd 20 mins and got more fish then i could ever need.

With fish not being able to spawn in bubble columns anymore, one needs a layer of regular water, then a layer of falling water (no sourceblocks in middle layer) and finally a bottom bubble column layer right about the magma blocks. That'll fix this farm for those playing above 1.18.2 (Java).

It really does not produce enough bonemeal to count as a bonemeal farm, but what can you do with the other drops? I'm not sure if you can trade all of those to fishermen for emeralds, but what else can you do with these items in such quantities? thx.

You can trade any of the fish to fishermen, it also gives an infinite food source and pufferfish are used in potions

5 months later, while it may not be that useful in vanilla minecraft, im playing on roleplay server rn which has pretty bad economy, and after lots of math we concluded that fish is the best sell option ($15 for 15 fish, while e.g. stone was 1$ per 64) and yeah, this farm is useful as (insert something here idk) here

Make sure u afk at y125, check that u spread the 2nd layer of water correctly(u should see bubbles 2 blocks high in the whole tank). What different loot recovery method are u using?

I have so problems. I didn’t see the bubbles on the water's surface, but there were bubbles when I was under the water. Did my work go wrong?

I've made mine wrongly at first and later fixed it. See if you have the same issue. I've made one too many water levels. By lowering the water level fishes appear as expected. There should be two levels of water above sea level. The first level above sea level is the top level which Minecraft allows fishes to spawn, using this spawning level allows us to build an afk spot where other blocks of water are all too far for spawning, so they won't spawn fishes to use up the spawn cap. The level above is flowing water, the level below is water sources. They are there to satisfy two requirements for fish spawns: below the spawning block must be some sort of water, above the spawning block must be water that isn't bubbling columns.

You're supposed to stand on top of the farm waiting for fishes to spawn, be killed by the magma blocks and collected by the minecarts. When you're not at the top the farm stops.

yes, but this is not a effective way to farm squid. make a dedicated squid farm instead.
