Note for those who build it in 1.21: You need to place obsidian behind all 5 stairs that are above the hoppers, because otherwise they will get pushed out. Otherwise it works perfectly. Build on a server.

Heads up for people who are making this (I don't know if the version is the reason, but I'm on 1.21): If your center block is getting destroyed, that means the bonemeal is being dispensed too early while the water hasn't fully receded. That leads to less moss blocks a greater likelihood that the center block is destroyed. To fix this, extend the 2 rows of repeaters 1 more block to the right (adding an extra 2 repeaters total). This should extend the delay just enough that the water has time to fully recede before the next bonemeal is used.

Super cool farm! Some parts of the tutorial were a little hard to follow but i got there in the end. I built mine underground, so if anyone else does so, you need to clear a 13x13x8 space MINIMUM, though i recommend a little more for servicing if you mess up like i did. Thank you so much for showing us how to do this!

Great tutorial, was a bit frustrated because I thought that the orientation of the redstone around the barrel didn't matter (it did and I had to tear out everything till the last hopper step xD) but this was ONLY because I don't understand redstone and was worried changing the arrangement could affect the tick count. Most importantly, it works!! I'm so happy :D Now I can make a dirt farm for my skyblock world (moss->podzol with spruce trees)

I done built the whole dam thing only for the source block to break after the pistons go off twice. I have put that stupid repeater on every tic speed multiple times and it doesn't work. The bonemeal can't spread the moss all the way out which makes the pistons break the block then I am left with the worlds most complicated stone farm. to be fair this shi makes a tone of moss for the 2 signals it receives before killing itself. Edit: I finally figured it out after like an hour. The cobblestone he puts above the red stone located behind the dispenser at the top is not a temporary block. it's required for the signal to reach the isolated piece of red stone. and if you, like me, used stone for the whole thing then it got converted to moss and I broke it because I didn't know why it was there.

If your source moss block is breaking: Try setting one of the repeaters on only 3 ticks. Fixed the farm for me. Also, stairs on hoppers are not necesarry. And if you want hte Azelia, extend the sorting system but itstead looping it back to the composters, but chest for storage there.

Interesting. I also realized something that's kind of neat about the Moss Block. You can turn it into dirt using spruce trees making infinite dirt. But the dirt will never grow any grass on it which always bothered me...

It turns it into Podzol, If you shovel the podzol using a normal shovel with no silk touch you get dirt and that will grow grass on it when placed around or on grass. Just confirmed it in my world on java

Built this in 1.21 and yes, you need obsidian in front of the stairs under the iron bars. Also, I was having trouble with the on/off section powering the large repeater section and idk how I fixed it, but it works now.

works in 1.20.6. for everyone having trouble make sure that your hoppers arent backed up and placed correctly. some hoppers he doesnt show placing. download the world and make sure each block is correct. check each redstone piece and make sure all ticks are correct, etc.

if your hoppers are backed up it will cause the system not to make enough bone meal, thus removing the moss block

could you jsut loop those moss barrels back into that third hopper/composter? if you dont need the moss.. then it can just compost all tht also? or does letting that fill and allowing the over flow from the hopper at the top add more over time?

you will need to run obsidian behind the steps so they dont push out and you need another repeater up top to continue the signal also remove all delay from the repeater you added on its way to water dispenser.

Built in 1.21, however I believe it no longer works. Please run in 1.21 to confirm. The stone stairs get pushed out due to the moss block in the centre breaking.

managed to fix this by runing the loop further using a repeater runing the piston next to the comparator like you show in the video leaves the piston constantly powered...

It might cause lag spike when you load back in, and that MAY break the center moss peice, but all you would have to do is remove and replace that one center moss block and the farm will work like normal again

Couple things i noticed when i built it. One the on off switch doesn't work and it only will fire once for some reason, a fix would be running it with a redstone lamp under the observer on a very slow redstone clock, and the other problem is that the bonemeal is getting stuck in the bottom dropper so youd need to replace the dropper tower with a bubble collem hopper system. Other than that it works

Nice tutorial, hopefully there's more tutorials that "server-friendly-redstone" in the future, coz no one playing minecraft in single player world anymore these days unless you are content creator, i could make this on the server i play on, but it would break everynow and then due to those inconsistent tickrates,since not every servers have expensive and reliable hosting like hermitcraft. nonetheless video is amazing!

On a server you would just add more repeater delay on the on off switch and that would slow the machine down to compensate for any lag. I would add another 4-5 repeaters on the on/off switch and 1 more repeater for the upper pulse extender... just gotta slow down the process right now its, - bone meal - Pistons - water....delay for water to clear - Bone meal - piston - water... delay for water to clear......... everything is back to back to back. add delay to the processes to slow it down

@@Chapman_FarmsMaybe that’s the issue I’m having. Just built this on a server, checked the redstone, and everything looks to be working like it should. But there seems to be a mistiming with the dispenser and pistons so the moss block keeps breaking. Will have to keep messing with timings to see if I can get it. Also, why don’t you need obsidian on the collection side of the upper platform? When mine breaks, the pistons from the bottom of the “U” keep pushing the stone out until push limit. When the farm is running, is it just breaking the blocks fast enough that you don’t get that issue? P.S. Loved the iron farm. I’ve built Rays and ianxofours day 1 farms a bunch of times, but yours has been the best combination of reliability and ease of creation. Definitely my new primary.
