I'm glad the performance was brought up. I play this with my son, and while the choppiness doesn't bother him, it really bugs me, especially considering what's on the screen. He's just excited because it's (as he calls it) daddy-and-me bonding time.

we should all be so lucky to be fully engaged and lost in a game. sadly the ability eludes most of us grown ups and even teens now obsessing over FPS to the point where it breaks/makes their enjoyment of the game

How is this footage so good!? This game plays so choppy on my switch, I've even installed it twice. I've heard some people say it runs perfect and others like me have the framerate issues. It's pretty nauseating to play and I'm so disappointed because I was look forward to it and bought it day one specifically on switch when i could have got it on PC or PS4. And weirdly, it's worse in docked than it is in handheld :(

I imagine the footage is good because they use a capture card. Like I have an Elgato and a lot of the time my recordings look better than the game actually looks on Switch or Xbox One. Just a guess.

I just started playing this today with my son in docked mode. Is is better in handheld? I did notice slowdown and frame rate issues as well. Since I literally just installed it today and it tookaybe 10 minutes to download whatever updates that was, are those the patches that should be speeding it up?

I was really hoping they'd include the minecraft-ian gameplay with the use of axes, pickaxes, hoes and shovels. Like how great would it have been to pick up the wooden versions of the tools and use them throughout the levels to uncover either loot or CRAFTING materials, that you could then use on your loot/gear upgrades.

Use them until they break, and you get the ability to pick up the stronger versions to get better loot or material, etc. Also if hold onto diamonds, later game, you can craft the beloved diamond pickaxe and use it to break into hidden dungeons scattered throughout.. I dunno seems like they could've melded the MC universe with the dungeon crawler a bit better from what I've seen.

This game is just pure fun and I got it for the switch lite I have not had any glitchy chugging issues since the second or third time I played they gave an update and my performance has been fine since..the game feel may be simple but it gets pretty challenging the more you play and level up..when you beat the game it unlocks harder modes and the areas are randomly generated so its not the same each time..this game has a bit of an rpg style as well because how you equip your character matters more the deeper you go into the game too but it doesnt lock you into a build which is kinda cool that thats different and interesting to see how all the gear works. I dont play regular minecraft but thought I would like this I was not wrong definitely like it WAY more than I thought I would if you want light hearted fun get this

I have not noticed such poor performance in docked mode and I have been playing online with my friend which could also lead to lag but it doesn’t. Been having fun with this, I think it looks good too.

If having lag on the swamp level on Nintendo Switch, just play the level for 2 minutes the lag with be back at 30FPs

Still tempted to get it. I loved but got burnt out on Diablo 3. And picked up Torchlight 2 awhile ago. I might give this a look. Especially after seeing DangerouslyFunny doing videos on it

Definitely a good bonding game, been getting closer with my little brother and it was well worth our money (we split the bill because I'm a broke ass and he spent all his allowance so he owes me like 10 bucks from his next allowance) just in the factor of bonding alone. Favorite part gameplay wise is creating broken builds with enchantments and artifacts

I love this game. I just back into after a year and man it’s really changed and gotten a whole lot better. My only gripe is that for some reason, since launch for this version and the Xbox version have never been able to find another game online.

This game excels as an arcade game with the game card powerups. I was wondering if it was worth purchasing as a switch game after spending over an hour playing at a Dave & Busters. Anyone care to compare? The arcade game vs Switch?

That's a shame, because it looked like an interesting take on Minecraft delving into a genre that doesn't have a broad appeal. Jim Sterling was right about it being a nerfed Diablo, so I think I'll just pass on this one.

Well considering the Switch is basically an Xbox 360/PS3 with low 18 watt power, I would say this is quite justified. I want an Xbox 360 version to purchase and download.

I hope they fix the performance too. The loading screen is the worst: as it stops the music while it freezes, every second or two. If they are going to have such performance issues with the music and graphics, they should just have a blank screen. If a game has such bad performance, they should not release it. I bought this so I can play local multiplayer with my sons and sometimes the lag/screen stutter is nauseating for me. Something needs to be done, because a game of this type and art style should have some of the highest frame rates of all the games, and if it doesn't then Nintendo needs to hire some staff with actual coding skill.

This game is badly "optimized" it lags and stutters like hell for me, you can't even turn down any graphics settings. You know it's bad when even the Logos lag/stutter when starting the game. (Switch docked mode)

My son wants this, but man this game looks incredibly boring and simple. I've never played Minecraft so maybe I just don't get it, but this game seems like mobile freeware that is riding solely on the Minecraft name to justify charging money. UPD: okay, bought it for my son, played 2 stages with him and had to quit. Yes the game was very simple and boring, but that's not the worst part, the screen judder and camera skip was HORRID, it was giving me a headache and motion sickness in about 15 minutes. I have never seen a game have such a hard time playing on the Switch, this game should not have been released in this state. They should refund all purchases until they can get it right.

this game is to introduce kids to larger, more in depth open world games. 6/10 is a rating from an adult, yet Minecraft in general, is the inner child game that includes everyone...this will bring any newb closer to full on gaming. This is a bad review for the score only, and a good channel, reviewing a good game...

This review is kinda trash, for only 20$ the game has a lot of content, only beating the final boss on the first difficulty isn't beating the game, beating the game is finishing it on the hardest difficulty, which takes a long time to get to but proves to be worth your money. I mean there are people who can play for tens of hours on the game, and will still be grinding for that boss finish or a higher lvl. So much was overlooked in this review, and they also didnt factor in that the game was just released, and there is sure to be more besides the DLC packs.

Why did Mojang change the cam angle to static isometric? This looks like kid-diablo. We wouldve preferred this game with the traditional Minecraft camera. This isometric view departs waaay too far from Minecraft. Its trying to be Diablen or Baldurs Gate. LAME! Mojang could build this game as a new “story” mode INTO Minecraft. But change the cam angle, split off as a new product... they’re really milking this franchise. Even more LAME. Whats next Mojang? $29 for Mincraft Oceans, $29 for Minecraft Space, $29 for Mincraft NNN... endless money pit.
