I appreciate that somebody actually made a tutorial on a simplified mechanism for the void trading mechanic, when I originally developed the concept with end gateways I quickly realised a few issues that I might have to correct you on. First of all the mechanic does not work by making the villager "forget" that it was traded with, instead it is simply preventing the game from accessing and modifying the villagers entity data. When the player pulls items from the GUI the game tries to update the villagers data however if the villager is not found on the entity list it fails to send the update. However if the chunk that the villager in exists anywhere in the games RAM then the game will load that chunk and lock out the trade. This means that villagers inside of border chunks that extend twice as far as your render distance will also trade lock. Meaning this rail system would be massively inconvenient on servers where you cannot control the viewdistance.
@genessab2 жыл бұрын
No offense cubic but did you read his response? Your estimate of 48s/trade was almost 3 times too high, and he is well aware of the border points you’ve made. His server version (in this video) calculates the server render distance for you, and for a normal render distance of 10 chunks it works out to take ~17s.

If you're having issues with this in 1.20+, try putting the trading station @8:55 an extra 1 chunk farther after the block entity disappears from the pie chart. The reason for this, at least from what I tested, is that block entities are detectable 1 chunk closer in 1.20 than in 1.19. The distance you see the minecart return should be the exact same in 1.19 and 1.20, so the formula @10:35 still works.

For those people doing this on 1.19. Even though I have seen stated in these comments that simulation distance doesn't override render distance, that wasn't the case for me. When I tried this farm with render 2 and simulation 12, it failed. Everything was correct. Distance was build 1 to 1 and I was nowhere near spawn or anything chunk loading it was done on a blank test world about 1k blocks away from spawn. However when I switched to 2 render and 5 simulation magically it started functioning (maybe something to do with optifine?). Not sure where the breakpoint is, but that is from my own personal testing. Great concept otherwise!
@biawa2979 Жыл бұрын
Followed all the instructions and am having a similar issue, though on a server, so I'm not sure how to fix it
@Oscillascape Жыл бұрын
@@biawa2979 hey I wanted to let you know that I made it work. Here is the deal, it cannot be in loaded chunks. Meaning if you are building this in or around the spawn and one of the chunks of always loaded this will not work. You can use minihud to check bounding boxes for spawn chunks. Also if you have any chunk loaders that will have similar effect. Second, I had to extend the built by an extra chunk in each direction when setting render distance. So in single player I would set render distance and simulation distance to absolute lowers possible setting when running it, but even then it still had to be 1 chunk longer in each direction that the video states for minimal distance. If you server is running higher render distance/simulation you will need to adjust the length as he talks about it in the video. Tldr, the farm works, just needs to be longer then the video claims. I haven't tested it with anything other then the lowest possible settings in single player though.
