This is my rebuild of my original IJN Yamato Battleship from 2012. I spent weeks re-designing this and applying a custom skin especially for this release! The custom skin theme is inspired from World of Warships (it is called "victory salute" camoflage ) and is not historically accurate but looks coo as hell ! Really hope everyone enjoys this fresh new take on this remarkable ship !

Yamato (大和) was the lead ship of the her class of battleships built for the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) shortly before World War II. She and her sister ship, Musashi, were the heaviest and most powerfully armed battleships ever constructed, displacing 72,800 tonnes at full load and armed with nine 46 cm (18.1 in) Type 94 main guns, which were the largest guns ever mounted on a warship.
Named after the ancient Japanese Yamato Province, Yamato was designed to counter the numerically superior battleship fleet of the United States, Japan's main rival in the Pacific. She was laid down in 1937 and formally commissioned a week after the Pearl Harbor attack in late 1941. Throughout 1942, she served as the flagship of the Combined Fleet, and in June 1942 Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto directed the fleet from her bridge during the Battle of Midway, a disastrous defeat for Japan. Musashi took over as the Combined Fleet flagship in early 1943, and Yamato spent the rest of the year, and much of 1944, moving between the major Japanese naval bases of Truk and Kure in response to American threats. Although present at the Battle of the Philippine Sea in June 1944, she played no part in the battle.
The only time Yamato fired her main guns at enemy surface targets was in October 1944, when she was sent to engage American forces invading the Philippines during the Battle of Leyte Gulf. On the verge of success, the Japanese force turned back, believing they were engaging an entire US carrier fleet rather than a light escort carrier group that was all which stood between the battleship and vulnerable troop transports.
During 1944, the balance of naval power in the Pacific decisively turned against Japan, and by early 1945, its fleet was much depleted and badly hobbled by critical fuel shortages in the home islands. In a desperate attempt to slow the Allied advance, Yamato was dispatched on a one-way mission to Okinawa in April 1945, with orders to beach herself and fight until destroyed protecting the island. The task force was spotted south of Kyushu by US submarines and aircraft, and on 7 April 1945 she was sunk by American carrier-based bombers and torpedo bombers with the loss of most of her crew.

Just some notes for those who wanted to build the Yamato with the actual 1945 config(Jag's build is 1945 config as well but needed some fixes)Source:Wiki -Skip/remove(if u have built it)the AA guns on 2:04:45.I've looked a number of pictures in wiki and games but i can't seem to find those 25mm AA guns. -All of the AA emplacements w/o shielding or turret except the frontmost(near turret no.1)had triple barrels instead of 2,but if you don't have enough space just leave it out. -The AA guns on the main deck of the ship(front and rear 25mm near the main battery turret no.3 and front secondary 155mm)should be widened by another block(so 3 blocks instead of 2 blocks in the center)to either bow or aft,totally up to you depending on the space you have.(in case you build more AA guns lol) -The AA guns near the crane(right on the rear edge of the ship)also suppoesed to have 3x barrels.Just add a block of fence gate infront of the cobblestone wall/whatever tf is it. -The AA guns on top of (main battery) Turret No.II and III(2nd front and rear)should face towards the bow and aft respectively,not to the sides.Also,it's a good idea to move the small shelter/cover for the gun and have the 3 stairs facing bow/aft as well. -The stack of iron bars on the aft of the ship(in the middle of the 2 aforementioned AA guns near the crane)could also be used as a flag pole for the IJN flag or other flags. -There were some ladders that connect from the platform that connects to the yellow section that leads PROBABLY 3 decks above(not 3 blocks). -Add 1 or 2 layers of 2 blocks below the edgemost 25mm turreted AA guns as they overhang by 1 block towards the edge(the 5 sets of turret on the edge)and then add an upside down stairs to make them look cool.I don't find anything on wiki saying about this but imo looks better. -Switch places of the 12.7cm guns that had a cobblestone and 2 pairs of 2 fence gates with the turret that had 2 sets of(3?)cobblestones(this one half encased the other is fully encased i believe).Also,add 4 slabs in the center of the turret in a diamond form.Then add a solid block in the center of those slabs and cover the rest with pressure plates. -Switch the forward most AA gun station near turret no.1 into regular unshielded triple barreled 25mm AA guns. To switch this to Musashi(1944 config) -Rip off the 3 edgemost(the one that overhangs by 1 block)25mm turreted AA and leave 2(the front and back one)if u don't get it,search on wiki. -DO NOT SWITCH PLACES of the previously mentioned 12.7cm AA guns(the one with cobblestone and fences and the one only with a pair of cobblestone) leave them be but remove the one with a pair of cobblestones. -Remove the 2 most forward 25mm AA guns(including the single barrel guns and their shieldings). -Replace the space leftover after u rip apart the half shielded 12,7cm guns into regular unshielded triple barreled 25mm AA guns. -Add another unshielded 25mm AA guns in the middle between the center 25mm and rear 25mm mentioned right above this sentence. -Remove the 25mm guns near turret no.3(rear). And all of these could be found from pictures in wikipedia.(search yamato,not yamato class and battleship musashi)BIG THANK YOU to Jag for making this tutorial im so glad i could do this ship and im waiting for other fun builds(heck im still riddled by the rigging btw)No need to give me credit for all this add-ons as all of this info comes from wiki and give Jag all those credits.He had done an amazing job that i cant imagine.The things written down above are all tips and completely optional.If you're too lazy to add/remove these things mentioned above then dont read this comment.(you probably already🤣)

For anyone who is wondering horizontal quartz pillar is a good alternative for the shutters in the hanger in the default texture pack and for the sea planes just use quartz because the Japanese did use white planes

Thanks. Yeah it took weeks to rebuild this from my first design. Then countless hours ripping it back apart and labeling everything for the tutorial, then all the countless hours filming, editing, rendering, and trying to fix any problems before uploading. Yeah these big tutorials are/were extremely time consuming and stressful lol.

i know i am late but i recommend using images of it instead as if you change the entire thing into a completely white ship using concrete or something and then use light blue for the patterns which can easily be seen on some images or try and find a minecraft image of the ship which wait here this is a link to a planet minecraft map showing the i401 (Iona) and the yamato (i am also a fan of arp) forgot to mention this is for yamato not musashi as musashi has a slightly different armament

Also I found that Cyan Terracotta is a good block to use for the front of the ship and the back of the ship. If that makes sense. It's not too dark or light. In my opinion. Just a suggestion. If you're not using texture packs. It also blends with te material you used Jag.

this is late but for Musashi if you put the larger secondaries on both sides of the ship and only leave the secondaries on the super structure that is the most common form i have seen of the sister ship to Yamato ijn Musashi:)

Yes the red layers are under water. Some people just start at the waterline and build the black part and above because building under water is a pain and you can't really see it any ways.

Just build the gun facing in the direction you want it to be faced. So act like the ship isnt there when building. Some slight adjustments may be needed.

Hey Jag! Noice build you got there, I'm planning to build Bismarck, but, it feels like buiding only the Bismarck is not enough, why? Well Jag, I want a Tirpitz, Scharnhorst, Gneisanau, Admiral Hipper and/or Hindenburg ( for Hindenburg, refer to World of Warships, because Hindenburg I believe was just a concept). Can you please do at least one of these? I would highly appreciate it, and besides, who doesn't like Bismarck and Tirpitz beside each other on the dock? So please do at least one of the five, it would really make my Minecraft world much better, but thank you anyways, Jag!

Hey jagthunder, i have a question about how you get your ships made, maybe you could make a designing video to show how you do your ships, also you should do it almost uncut

RancherSniper45 _ The process is always the same. I get a shit ton of pictures, get the sizes off Wiki. Then start building. The actual building process is very organic and is different for each ship. Some are easier than others. The process can take hours or weeks. That’s just something that can’t really be taught mate. It just takes a lot of practice and a good eye.

I started this at the beginning of the month, hoping to make this my full survival world house, after 3 weeks I can finally say I am finished, amazing tutorial, enjoyed where you left in your mess ups. Decided to leave the cables off due to preference ( I personally think a cable is needed in Minecraft) and I added in some nether update blocks. Came out amazing. Thank you for spending the time to make this piece of history!!!

Hey jag I already built this ship from you but I'm doing this thing we're it's the Yamato hull and draft with 1 of it's main guns and I'm going to get 1 main guns from Missouri, Bismarck, and king George the fifth then I'm going combined all there super structure into one I will let you decide on the name

I converted the first Yamato into my own ship it has more anti-aircraft guns it has an extra secondary gun at the front
