It's actually not confirmed that's the case. They would've tried to "fix Nogla's mic" before they start recording, so they realized it's Nogla brother then they play with him, playing along. But it's confirmed that at some point they can't tell it's Nogla's brother.

5:31 let me explain(other Minecraft players will know this already) the despawn timer will only activate if the chunk are loaded. By not being in the nether, the chunks weren’t loaded so the timer never started.
