Minecraft Resource Pack Tutorial [1.20-1.16] (READ DESCRIPTION!)

- Right click and create a new text file.

Learn how to make a resource pack in Minecraft 1.18, and how to get the default resource pack from Minecraft! You'll learn all the skills you need, starting with a beautiful* diamond sword texture! I'll show you how to make a custom item texture (or any other texture) using GIMP, a free, open-source image editor that's great for pixel art and Minecraft textures. This is also a Minecraft texture pack tutorial (texture packs and resource packs are the same thing!)

In this video I'll show you how to make a resource pack/texture in Minecraft 1.19/1.18/1.17/1.16 java edition. Such segments as showing you how to use gimp to make pixel art (and how to make the eraser not blurry in gimp, AND how to save in gimp. it is a very easy program to use :^) I'll make a recolored diamond sword for a "pvp texture pack" because that's the only thing people make custom textures of in tutorials! This is also a valid way to make a minecraft texturepack on mac/linux, since gimp is a cool man's art software. I also show how to get default minecraft textures, which is very important, since downloading the default texture pack is not something you want to be doing. "Minecraft default resource pack download" is the last thing you want in your search history when mojang comes a-knockin'. ~Metameta Soupsoup

For anyone struggling with the pack saying: "this was made for a newer version" or "this was made for an older version", simply change in the packmcmeta file, change the pack format to the following: 1 for 1.6.1-1.8.9, 2 for 1.9-1.10.2, 3 for 1.11-1.12.2, 4 for 1.13-1.14.4, 5 for 1.15-1.16.1, 6 for 1.16.2-1.16.5, 7 for 1.17 and above. hopefully this helped for anyone who was pulling their hair out like i was :)
