If you think the patching system of Paper is confusing, then Spigots is even worse. For those not knowing, Spigot requires you to download a separate jar file called a buildtool. Once executed will it download the MC server, decompile and deobfuscate it, apply all the patches and then reobfuscate and recompile it into a final jar. May not sound like much that stuff is extremely slow... Like at the time Spigot is done would you be able to run like 10 paper servers, including downloads and patches being applied. Also, as far as I know, Command Blocks DO have permission checks. It just so happens that their permission level is 4 or something... It also makes sense given they are a creative-only usable block meant for mapmakers and alike and Mojang wouldn't expect you granting access to them for NoobPlayerXx69 (Sorry in advance if there is a player with that name. Was just a joke and not meant as an attack)

How can I make an npc trigger a command from a command block to give a player a named item. I want an npc to give a player a written book but only once so they can't get it multiple times but no one seems to be helpful or know how to do it
