I enjoy your videos and will checkout you V3i videos. I hunt sites identical to where I see you hunting only I'm in CT. I ponder the questions of wether a dwelling existed in some fields based on the same types of evidence you are noticing. I've spent about 14 months learning my EQX800. I have used my V3i since October 2011 and am proficient with it. The F75 SE is also one of mt go to detectors and I'm loaded with accessory coils for all my units. Mostly I have been grabbing the NOX the majority of the time to keep up the learning. I've tested the 6" coil and it is impressive and no slouch on depth, I can reliably hit my 8" dime in my test plot tweaking Field 1. Keep up the videos, your the kind of quality person I enjoy seeing in this passionate hobby, I'm at 33 years of detecting and 9 detectors, 5 are dedicated water detectors.

Thank you for the kind words, greatly appreciate them. I’ve been detecting since I was 16 and now 39 although college and other points in life the hobby slowed down for me but it always came back. Right now I’m currently at my peak in detecting and decided to start making videos because all the videos I watched set crazy expectations for folks for the hobby. I try with every video to educate as well as entertain... I try not to act like I know everything because with every hunt you learn something. I’m just a guy making videos of my hunts portraying the hobby for its entire experience as well as the bucket load of trash for every cup full of good stuff found. Not hunting a sponsor so my tongue isn’t tied in what I can say in my videos, just part of the hobby for me making videos. I have learned a lot through this experience and it’s been a ton of fun. I’ll keep this going as long as I can... met a lot of great people and folks educate me on things I would have never been exposed to. I’m glad you found my channel because your experience on here commenting and sharing will not only help me but others that desire to enjoy the hobby. Thanks again and take care.

Once again, love how you set up your Equinox each time you go out. Your videos are instructional and entertaining as well. Great day. I went out today to a CW site and had some luck with my Nox. 1 fired musket ball, 1 dropped musket ball, and a dropped 58 cal minie ball. Not bad for a 3 hour hunt. Still learning the Equinox.

Nice video. I like that you show the numbers and how the machine sounds on each target before you dig. I sold my V3i after buying an Etrac. I also swing an Eqinox. After going to minelab machines all the other detectors I’ve used over the years just seem like toys. Keep up the videos. Thanks
@squarenailsquirrel96385 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I try to portray the whole hunt instead of just digging and showing what I find. :) I do have a question.. I know the Etrac is a little older but would you buy that machine again? I am considering purchasing one to replace my V3i or possibly waiting until the Etrac replacement comes out. Thanks for checking out the video and for commenting.
@rubberbootbandage5 жыл бұрын
Square Nail Squirrel I really like the Etrac and if minelab ever makes a newer version I will definitely consider buying it. I have to admit that I haven’t used my Etrac much since I got used to the light weight EqiNox800. I wish the Equinox had the Co-Fe numbers like the Etrac. Between the V3i and the Etrac I would grab the Etrac every time.
@rubberbootbandage5 жыл бұрын
Square Nail Squirrel to answer your question I would wait until they come out with a newer version of the Etrac. It has a few more bells and whistles than the Equinox. Mainly when it comes to discriminating targets out but the processor is way slower on the Etrac. I hope they do eventually update it because it is a great machine but for the money the Equinox 800 is just as good in my opinion.

Thank you. (message is gone but...) It can be obtained directly from Minelab USA for cheap. Also, if your screen protector gets smudged/scratched, save the bottom due to it being in English (just cut the top off that covers your readout). Then on the other 10 or so languages that came with your machine, cut the readout portion leaving the other languages behind and use that. Saves money getting another English version anytime soon.

You and quite a few other folks on here would like for me to keep using the V3i... after reading a few posts I feel like I need to keep running the V. I may do another comparison video since I have now experienced my first negative feedback and can handle it. I asked Whites Oregon and south, field team members and a couple dealers to inquire about anything new and all I got were standard answers of vague confusion. I was willing to wait around if I knew something was coming out although I received nothing that made me feel good about it. it’s hard owning three detectors, never know which in to use. Lol. I would also like to sell one of them to get into another model outside of Whites or Minelab. The Rutus Alter 71 seems like a winner to me.

Thomas Goldsboro Not sure if I should buy now or wait... 🤔 The v3i is 10 years old. The ctx 3030 is 7 years old. These machines date back to the introduction of the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5, respectively. I’d love to see what new processors can achieve in a high end detector. Come to think of it, maybe they can create a detector that uses a phone as the display...
@BeepThis5 жыл бұрын
The life of Riley comparing the V3i to a phone 4 smh lol well since you went there...... the V3i is still in production and selling pretty good I don’t want a phone in my metal detector You kids can’t to anything without a phone. Whites was years ahead of everyone with the V3i it’s just taken the competition 10 years to catch up. Not real sure why we’ve not seen a big release from white’s yet my guess is perfection takes time. But when we do, it will be huge and it will take the competition anther 10 years to catch up. You can take the light weight plastic on the 800 and put it in the recycle bin. When you buy a whites machine you don’t have to spend another 200-300 on modifications. This is Not directed to you Riley but To all you guys coming here bashing Kenny is BS where are your videos? Please email me the link to them I’d love to see them. I would never bash anybody for using one brand over another. Just my bias opinion about the 800 the machine is killer but more engineering is needed to go into it the housing & ergonomics was complete miss by minelab. I love your videos and have an AT Pro which I do great with. I have a sniper coil and a 5" x 8" coil in addition to the stock coil. I mainly hunt with a 5"x 8" coil which is light enough for me as a female. The bigger stock coil is even it too heavy for me and bothers my wrist and shoulder. I am interested in the Equinox 800 as well but concerned about getting another machine because of weight. I would definitely need a smaller coil if I made the leap and purchased one. I mainly hunt in fields but would like to try fresh/saltwater hunting at some point. Again great videos showing set up and VDI numbers and sharing history. It is tough to learn new machines but exciting at the same time. Good to have variety.

If you turn your pinpointer on first and then noise cancel when you first start hunting it will quiet down the Nox. At the 18 min mark mine would go a little nuts when I had my pinpointer out as well. The V3i has so many settings and Its unfortunate that people are overly passionate about what works for them. Also the 6 inch coil is really small like hunting with your hand but it's killer in the iron and that's probably the biggest thing I miss about the NOX was the 6" coil, but I'm happy with the 5.3 on my MX5 for those spots.
@squarenailsquirrel96385 жыл бұрын
Great tip on the pinpointer, I have noticed that the Garrett pinpointer and equinox don’t get along very well but I’m managing. Knowing to ground balance it to dirt on startup will help with the noise. Eventually I will get he 6” coil and try it out... there are times I believe it will really help with the hunt. Thanks for commenting and for checking out the video.

Got a box 800 bout month ago... been swinging a v3i for 5 years.. love the v but it spends a lot of time at home...weight is tough on the arm when swinging all day ... the box is lighter and faster and in my soil deeper with both having stock coils... plus where I'm at in Alabama gold defecting ability was a factor in my purchase... I swing 4 to 5 days a week and the nox is not hype it's a great unit as u know... great hunt enjoy your shows very much.

That’s awesome you recently got an equinox as well. You and I are going through about the same experience coming from V3i’s and learning our new machines. I too have noticed that with the major weight difference really improves the hunt... I did the comparison video recently uploaded between the V and the equinox and really noticed the difference then. I just hope the lightness of the equinox isn’t a sign of weakness although so far the equinox hasn’t skipped a beat on rigidness. Thanks for checking the video out and for commenting.

I tried my best to keep my brand loyal mindset of 23 years until the first videos started coming out on the equinox. I waited around for Whites to make a move to get onboard with the advances that are arising from multiple companies but didn’t see them. I called Whites many times, spoke to reps, spoke to field team members and only got the same answers that someday they will have a new detector out. That’s a true statement but we don’t want another sport, made not waterproof with the frequency changed as well as color to designate a “new detector”. I was tired of waiting and hearing about the experience others had making the switch so I followed the trend. I decided about the time I dropped the Whites resemblance in my logo. Glad I went with the trend... it’s made enough difference I’m having a hard time picking the other machines up anymore.

I have a CTX3030 and a V3i, along with a CZ-5, CZ-70 Pro, Surfmaster PI DF, and Sand Shark. The Nox 800 looks tempting. Would there be any advantage by adding it to the stable? Maybe sell the CZ's to offset some of the cost? Is there anything it does that the others don't? Maybe handle EMI better than what I now have? Better depth? Better separation of targets? I want a Nox, but not if it makes no sense to get one.

Where I live in Florida, our history doesn't go back past 1900. So finding those old coins isn't in my future. But there is this small old community that goes back to 1910. I haven't gotten any permissions there yet. Hopefully I will. There is this one really old Victorian dilapidated house I'd love to detect around. But Florida residents aren't friendly.
@squarenailsquirrel96385 жыл бұрын
Just try your best at gaining permissions. Once you get the trust of one house the others around that one may fall into place. Be honest, polite and things usually fall into place. Things can be hard in the beginning getting a shoe in the door in an area you wish to hunt but the payoff is worth it. Good luck with gaining permissions in older parts of town and don’t forget to research all the Spanish trading history in your area that predates any English settling in your area. Thanks for checking out the video.

You should not let the Haters get you down. For those of us who have watched all of very well made videos from the beginning, we know you know your V3i. I agree with The Life of Riley's comment below. You comparing the machines which I know adds a lot of extra work for you, is a real valuable service for those trying to make a decision on which machine to buy or upgrade to. I must have watched and listened to how both machines reacted to that Indian head you found in that last video a dozen times. I would say the tone difference convinced me the NOX was the clear winner. So, you comparing the machines is a great public service, but you should also know that someone is going to get "butt" hurt because you are not telling them what they want to hear about "THEIR" machine. It just goes with the territory. If you do actually sell your V3i, well that pretty much tells me volumes.
@travismitchell96375 жыл бұрын
I had the NOX and hunted with it all last year and it is a great machine and if it starts raining no worries. If I was hunting just fields I would probably use a Vaquero or Tejon there as light as a feather, fast and can unmask good targets in Iron as good as any machine and your pretty much going to dig any repeatable tone anyway. In the city parks there are so many junk targets (pull-tabs) fall in that 13-14 range on the NOX and I found it almost impossible to tell if it was a nickel, junk aluminum, or a gold ring. The V3i or any whites machine has a much larger spread and a Nickel with usually hit 19/20 and a pulltab 22/23 (75% accuracy) and this cuts down on a lot of digging. I seems like it has rained so much this year in Indiana but I have already found more Nickels than I did all of last year. The Nox ability to process a target and react (aka separation) is superior without sacrificing depth but remember were comparing a 10+ year old machine to a modern processor. I'm curious to see how the MX sport does on the same targets! I've learnt so much from Squirrels videos and I bought the V3i from watching him and I don't understand the haters either.

Thanks for the support I greatly appreciate it. This was my first experience where a bunch of name calling and slandering took place in emails. I shouldn’t put my email out there so much in comment but I do so folks can communicate with me. I am seeing differences between the machines that really changes the enjoyment of the hunt for me. Might not be for everyone but gosh I’ve been wearing a smile since I started swinging the eauinox. I’ve really enjoyed my V3i but I can only swing so many machines. Lol. I’d like to swing something different for a change but after reading through the comments a lot of folks will be disappointed if I don’t. Right now as it stands I don’t want to include the V anymore, especially on comparisons although I really feel I need to so I can portray the difference it’s making in my hunt. If people don’t see that then they might be missing out too... I’m serious when I say it’s changed my hunt to be much more enjoyable. Not only finds but in many other way. Right now I’m still setting down from the last video but I’ve learned to just shrug the emails and comments off. To each their own and I guess what I show on here is “my own”. Just really don’t want to disappoint anyone is the main thing. Thank you for checking the video out and for commenting.

Travis, I find that too with the compressed scale. It’s hard to know what your digging since the numbers are tight. I figured that since I dig anything that sounds good then it’s ok with me that the scale is tight. Thanks for commenting and for checking the video out. I’m also interested in the Sport’s compRison, I may.do a video on that in the near future.

Good observations. I am also considering the E-Track. I think it gives a wider vdi spread, operates in 28 frequencies simultaneously (if one thinks that is a benefit.........some think single frequency machines run deeper), and like the V3i allows more custom settings than the Nox. However, it like the V3i is a 10 year old machine with a 10 year old processor. I think the Nox with the newer processor technology is better at target separation. I wish I lived in a place where finding a large cent was common place, unfortunately living on the west coast.....actually just an hour north of Whites HQ in Sweet Home OR (another reason I was kinda wanting to use Whites once again), I am going to probably be looking for old schools and hitting the older parks looking for silver.

Another great hunt, I enjoyed watching the coppers come out of the ground almost as much as digging them myself. Again, thanks for showing the numbers before you dig. Still new to the Equinox myself but loving it more each time I take it out. Looking forward to your next hunt.

Thank you and glad you enjoyed the video. Once the winds start to die down I will get back to using my small camera mount which puts you directly at the hole when I pull stuff out. I think it adds detail to the experience watching video. Thanks for checking out the video and good luck with any hunt you have coming up using that equinox... just take your time learning it and it will find what your after.

just wondering if you had any special key settings when you went to field mode.. I do like the fact that this detector is proving to be successful and not overly challenging ( unlike the dfx my dad had lent me !! ) as I just started using mine and it gives me some motivation to get out and learn it's "personality".. keep em' coming and thank you !

Great hunt. Always great to find lost home sites. Love the two large cents. I have a site right behind my house that I hunt when I am bored and dont have time to drive to another site. Went out for a half hour last night and got a 1739 George II Large cent. My oldest coin. Also got a big brass instrument Reed. Looks like you are getting the hang of the equinox. Stick with the mindset that questionable targets are trash with the nox, usually its correct. HH From Maine again.

Thanks Pete and glad you enjoyed the video. That’s awesome on the king George... I have never found one of those. Super cool. I’m working hard to keep studying my equinox and getting up to speed with it. The hunt it’s providing is very enjoyable. Thanks for checking out the video and I’ll make note of your suggestion as to junk targets.

Hey Buddy, first of all, gratz on the finds...awesome catch! Second...there;s always going to be good with bad...DO NOT let the negative comments sway you in any way. Welcome them and consider them...but decipher them as you read them. Some people rant without backing of any kind and then there are others who rant and have merit with what they say. Its good to be open minded when reading comments. Your a smart one buddy, so just be you! This video was really good my friend. You are helping people kenny...when you find a coin or a relic, tell them a little about it and it sticks kenny it does. It;s sort of a subliminal thing...the history of that coin or relic you found explodes from their mind when they find one and they begin repeating what you told them about it on your video. Stay Strong my man and keep it up! Your setting the Bar for others making video's!

Thanks Gunnersmate... I’m going to take all this as a learning experience in making video. I didn’t think my following would be like it has became so there are going to be many different opinions and I’ll accept them and let the bad ones roll off. I just really didn’t want folks attacking each other over which machine was the best... they are both great tools. I’m going to continue on as normal and hunt with the machine that I’m enjoying with the mix in of other machines when I can. Thanks for your kind comments, very supportive, and thanks for checking the video out.

That was awesome haha, 3 largies crazy. You seem like you are really liking the Equinox, I knew you would! The 6” really does insanely well in trash, I recommend it even though I get lazy sometimes with wanting to swap out coils at sites, might just buy an extra rod haha.
@squarenailsquirrel96385 жыл бұрын
Thanks man. Yes, the three largies really make for a great hunt. So far the Equinox has never skipped a beat or let me down.. such an awesome machine. Thanks for suggestion on the 6, I need to get one at some point. I too get that way on switching coils.. takes so long I never want to take the time to do it. LOL... Thanks for watching and take care. Hit that baseball field hard. it's a winner.

I have the small 6 inch coil. It does work well in high iron environments. I do go up on recovery speed. 6 or even 7 depending. By the way, farm fields are my favorite as well.

Hi Kenny. I ran across your videos about a year ago and really enjoy the. Like you, I hunt fields and old home places that are littered with trash and iron. Most of my sites are Civil war era or older. I was wondering if you prefer AM, Park 1, Field 1 etc? What is your favorite mode to run in?

@therrienmichael085 жыл бұрын
Lifting belt ? As in weight lifting belt. I need shoulder straps as my pants are always falling down.
@squarenailsquirrel96385 жыл бұрын
It's a leather belt used for a construction belt I purchased at Lowe's, I believe the brand is AWP or something like that. If you get one and if you hunt in the winter, just don't cut it off too far to fit for warm months. When you put you coveralls on for winter hunting, it won't fit.

Hey SQUARENAILSQUIRREL please do not punish the MANY that cannot WAIT for your videos to be published, for the small number of goofballs that don't understand that this is a beloved sport AND TO CHILL ALREADY!! We value your Spectra V3I videos as well as the Equinox videos for the information that we aquire from YOUR hard work especially the creation, design, time and thought put into your videography! I would however suggest one thing and that is.... do NOT GET DISCOURAGED by these other negative voices and read the comments that HKSTRONGSIDE, WEST JERSEY DETECTING ADVENTURES, DIRTFISHING, EARTHMANSURFER, and other channels have received as they too have the same following number of goofballs! Count the positive number of comments and you will soon arrive at 98% to 99% positive or for this video 101 likes out of 102 is pretty darn good and now at 103! :)
