Thanks Les I bought a new GPX6000 over the weekend it was great to see the difference between the 11inch & 14inch coils and to what they can do I learnt a lot Thanks again Madmon 😮 😊

Thanks for the video Les. I still haven’t used the DD coil yet. I haven’t needed to but probably will.

It’s a good coil to use around powerlines or in heavily mineralised ground. I wish there was some country that was clear enough to swing it. The undergrowth is horrible at the moment.

Great video Les, very good comparison, something for me to work with.

I have an area I go where there are "baby poo" yellow clays that make the mono moan like when you were near the water....never thought of it as being conductive, but maybe the 14" will sort it...thanks for the clip, and idea...

Great video Les. I should use this DD coil more often because the noise from the Mono is never ending. I just like the light weight Mono and I don't like having to deal with the almost dead RH side of the DD.

Cheers Moneybox. I know what you are saying. We have had a really wet year in the east and the mono is a real pain in wet ground. I wish there was a smaller DD coil to do rock bars and stony country as the 14” is a bit big in that type of situation.

How come you don't wrap the coil lead around the shaft and why do you need the steady rod on such a light machine?
@lesgold21323 жыл бұрын
Good questions. The lead is not wrapped around the bottom shaft as it would essentially become a coil of wire that could produce a minor electromagnetic field as current is passed through it. That therefore could become a small source of emi and potentially interfere with the signal that you hear. The lead is wrapped around the top shaft as it is further from the coil and this problem is less of an issue. In saying that, I could have made a better effort to ensure the lead was kept in close to the bottom shaft with a few more ties. It may not have been obvious but I use a bungee and a push arm. You can use this machine all day without these aids but the use of them alters the way that the detector is moved. Long term repetitive use of a detector places a lot of pressure on the shoulder and will eventually lead to issues. The bungee transfers weight to the harness and the swing arm changes the rotation from the shoulder joint to a rotation of the whole body.

@@lesgold2132 All good points. My wrists get tired swinging my SDC so I've ordered the 6000 and a17"coil for it. I'll likely set it up with a swing arm and bungee.

I can't believe you are using the arm to swing the Detector I can swing the 6000 for 8hrs and not even feel I have swung anything
@lesgold21322 жыл бұрын
That’s fine Peter. Try it for a month solid and see how you feel. The reason I use it is to change the way the body moves though the whole cycle of the detector swing. Using the machine with rotation occurring from the shoulder will create long term problems. I also use a bungee for the same reason.
