Incredible! Considering this came off of a VHS recording you can take a lot from what we do hear. The voice is there but there is a distinct difference between Bad Radio and Pearl Jam. Yet We all love when Pearl Jam plays this live but BR did a good job with this. To bad they weren't as serious as Eddie and where happy playing in San Diego in front of mostly no one. So stoked this song came to life again a few years later!!!

I read an interview with Brendan O’Brien talking about hearing Eddie play Better Man in the studio for the first time and telling him that the song is going to be a huge hit. Apparently, Eddie didn’t like hearing that and didn’t want to record the song. As I recall, this incident with Brendan happened when PJ was recording Vitalogy so perhaps Eddie hadn’t shared the song with the band until then. I heard Stone say after hearing BM for the first time that he wondered what other song gems Eddie had hidden away, which suggests that BM was not something Eddie introduced to the band right away.

I ALMOST PUKED RIGHT ON HIM.

Eddie VEDDER seems douchey???? That's literally the last person I could fathom someone saying that about. Mister boycott tickemaster so his fans could see him, like I did, in NYC in 97 for $20??? The man who cried onstage after bringing up the Rosklide tragedy 10 years later, who invited a sign language interpreter onstage with him and danced with her after Given To Fly, and who defends poor people, women, abused kids, etc etc?? He's softspoken and emotional, he's not self absorbed at all. Dude used to ride his bike to concerts. He's one of the richest men in rock music, his house, although nice, isn't some crazy mansion. He defended West Memphis 3 to the point of showing up to a pre trial rally for them and letting Damien Echols write some of the lyrics to Army Reserve. Are we talking about the same person?

This is fucking awesome! He wrote this in high school. My god, I could barely think clearly enough to tie my shoes in HS. What a talent. I wonder why the other guys in the band didn't get down on their knees to stay with Eddie musically. Perhaps he had to leave this band for better talented bandmates? No offenses, just hard to understand how you could see talent in front of you and not stick to him like glue as a band.
@TokyoBlue5877 жыл бұрын
Eddie said in the PJ20 book that the band didn't take the gigs seriously and that was so frustrating to him. So obviously when he had a chance to be in a better band he left.

They recorded it for Vs. But their producer made the mistake of saying it would be a huge hit and Eddie immediately dropped it from that album’s lineup. They didn’t want any more smash hits for awhile since they were still reeling from the popularity of 10. I remember Stone saying in an interview that he wondered how many other great songs Eddie had hidden away in his notebooks and Ed just kinda smiled and looked away. There are probably a lot.
