How minerals are different from vitamins.
Their functions in the human body, sources
Minerals are those elements on the earth and in foods that our bodies need to develop and function normally. They are essential for good health.
Where do they come from?
Our body doesn't manufacture minerals.
What is the difference between vitamins and minerals
#Minerals, #Vitamins, #MicroNutrients
Types of minerals:
Essential minerals - that is, those necessary for human health
1. Major minerals or Macro-minerals
Sodium
Chloride
Potassium
Calcium
Phosphorus
Magnesium
Sulphur
2. Trace minerals (or micro-minerals)
Iron
Zinc
Iodine
Selenium
Copper
Manganese
Fluoride
Chromium
Molybdenum

Thanks great informations, does boron a mineral?
@Sciencified
@Sciencified 2 жыл бұрын
Boron is a mineral that is found in food such as nuts and the environment. People take boron supplements as medicine. Boron seems to affect the way the body handles other minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus. It also seems to increase estrogen levels in older (post-menopausal) women and healthy men. Boron has been proven to be an important trace mineral because it (1) is essential for the growth and maintenance of bone; (2) greatly improves wound healing; (3) beneficially impacts the body’s use of estrogen, testosterone, and vitamin D; (4) boosts magnesium absorption; (5) reduces levels of inflammatory biomarkers, such as high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) etc etc. Foods of plant origin, especially fruits, leafy vegetables, nuts, and legumes, are rich in boron as are plant-derived fermented beverages (ie, wine, cider, and beer). Meat, fish, and dairy products, however, are poor sources. Peanuts and peanut butter, other nuts, raisins, wine, and avocado are also top contributors to boron intake.

What is difference between normal multivitamin capsule vs multivitamin with trace element capsule
@Sciencified
@Sciencified 2 жыл бұрын
Normal multivitamins may also contain trace elements, like supradyn. It depends on the brand and the need. Some of the essential trace elements of the human body include zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), selenium (Se), chromium (Cr), cobalt (Co), iodine (I), manga- nese (Mn), and molybdenum (Mo). They are needed in small quantity hence the name "Trace" but still they are very important for the functioning (watch complete video for their functions). Trace elements refer to any chemical element that is present in the human body in very small amounts, usually less than 0.1% by volume. BTW, they are called essential because the human body cannot naturally synthesize these elements, it is essential that people consume them through their diet or by using supplements. Hope this answered your query.

Hi. How many total minerals are there in human body and how many minerals among them are essential?
@Sciencified
@Sciencified Жыл бұрын
A mineral is a chemical element required as an essential nutrient by organisms to perform functions necessary for life. The four major structural elements in the human body by weight (O, H, C, and N), are usually not included in lists of major nutrient minerals and compose about 96% of the weight of the human body, and major minerals (macrominerals) and minor minerals (also called trace elements) compose the remainder. Together eleven chemical elements (H, C, N, O, Ca, P, K, Na, Cl, S, Mg) make up 99.85% of the body. The remaining ~18 ultratrace minerals comprise just 0.15% of the body. Different opinions exist about the essential nature of various ultratrace elements in humans (and other mammals), even based on the same data. For example, the United States and Japan designate chromium as an essential nutrient, but the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), does not agree. There are 21 essential minerals to maintain health (meaning we must get these from our diets). Hope this answer helps.

If you get your minerals tested, what will be its cost?
@Sciencified
@Sciencified Жыл бұрын
Anywhere between 2000-3000 INR depending on the lab and packages. Though there is not need to get all of them tested, only those whose deficiencies are expected.

Where is Gold?
@Sciencified
@Sciencified 2 жыл бұрын
Gold is a noble metal and hence does not react inside human bodies. This means that it is not absorbed during the digestion process, so it is safe to eat. However, there are no nutritional or health benefits associated with its consumption. Though, An average person's body weighing 70 kilograms would contain a total mass of 0.2 milligrams of gold. It’s been found that the element plays an important health function, helping to maintain our joints, as well as facilitating the transmittal of electrical signals throughout the body.
