Tip: You can show the ore distribution in a local world by using the mods "Simple XRay" and "Ambient Light" (the second with a higher light level set).

Quick reminder that MineTest: Game Isn’t really a game, it’s intended to be modded.

The limited X and Y space in Minetest (which is an engine limitation) is kind of keeping me on the fence. This greatly limits the amount of surface space for building and finding non-renewable surface resources. Underground space is not good for much more than mining.
@dee23gaming2 жыл бұрын
Compared to Minecraft, it's not big at all, however in all my time playing Minetest, I still never came close to seeing the world border in creative or survival without teleport commands, and I never really felt limited. It still feels infinite for my needs. But Minecraft worlds will always win in size and you can explore all of it eventually, provided you have a hard drive with many petabytes storage capacity.

Have you ever used more than 31,000x31,000 in a Minecraft world? Not even 2b2t's spawn wasteland is that big.

Thank you for calling branch mining branch mining and not strip mining 💚
@dee23gaming Жыл бұрын
Oh yes, there's a difference. I do sometimes mix them up every now and then. But branch mining is more efficient than strip mining. I may start a strip mine if I just want stone and nothing else.

Huh. One might build hell stations at intervals, like Pony Express depots, to help offset the task of mining. Unfortunately, on a singleplayer world the player would have to constantly restock with items from the surface. Quite a task. Why, reaching -30,000 is nearly as hard as getting out of debt from Tom Nook. I wish there was a little guy, a protagonist to help with this challenge. Yes, getting those diamonds won't be easy. I feel it in my bones. My folksy bones. Such a feat didn't exist ten minutes ago. But now that I know, I can't rest. Or it's the gallon of coffee I drank. Coffee calms me down. Especially when theres work to be done. Like getting those diamonds and gearstone. Tough work. That mining. I lost my whole folksy family in a mine. Nine minutes ago. Pulling your leg ha! You cant believe everything you read. Especially on the Internet.

Wow, that's gonna be a lot of grind just to find iron and diamonds

I know right? With the time that I have in real life, It takes me 2 real days to get to diamond level. It's very rewarding in the end.

@@dee23gaming it should take that long though. In Minecraft, it takes too quick to find diamonds.

Wait, you can't MLG water bucket?
@dee23gaming2 жыл бұрын
In Minetest you have to make sure that the water is deep enough to slow your velocity. Almost like Minecraft Beta.
@JoeEnderman2 жыл бұрын
@@dee23gaming How deep does it need to be? And are there MLGs that stop all damage?
@dee23gaming2 жыл бұрын
The higher you are, the faster you fall and the deeper you penetrate the water. It's actually fun. I fell down a mineshaft that was a couple hundred blocks deep and I needed very deep water to break my fall. The most common cause of death in Minetest is fall damage while mining. There are no MLGs you can use, not even ladders, because they work the same as water, you need to decelerate

Christ! Over 2000 blocks down for everything to become common? Diamonds over 1000 blocks down? This seems like a masochist's dream. WAAAY too much digging. I thought I dug deep in this game, but this is something else. Who in their right mind would dig like this? I'm going to be honest, mining in this game is tedious.

If you generate a V6 or V5 world type, you'll find diamonds, iron, etc. a lot faster compared to a V7 world type. If you really like V7 world generation, but want V5/6 ore generation, then there's a mod which can customise the depths of ores to be a whole lot easier on V7 worlds. Play around with the different types of world generation algorithms :) You'll find this on the world creation screen. I just like to work for my rewards, so I chose V7 world generation.
@beanmchocolate39007 ай бұрын
@@dee23gaming Yeah, I do prefer V6. That's the generator used during the early 0.2 and 0.4 version, right? It feels a lot more game-like than V7. Don't get me wrong, V7 creates some gorgeous terrain, but from a gameplay perspective, it feels excessively grindy. Half the time your spawn doesn't do well as a starting point. V7 feels very fitting for creative mode, as the terrain lends its self well to big builds.

This is way, waaay too deep. I really enjoy Minetest and --- have for a while --- but I liked staircasing. I liked seeing the bedrock. Here I don't even know if there ever is any bedrock at all. It's really demotivating to go mining at all if you feel like you can't go down there all the way. And what's worse, I don't know the difference between all these world generators. I just know that they all seem to produce a landscape that doesn't feel right to me. It's all hyper. Everything is way too vast or too big. Biomes are gigantic. Mountains are gigantic. But I like diversity.
@mozesmarcus46111 ай бұрын
Furthermore, you might be the kind of person to like Mineclone (a Minetest "sub"game you can find on Minetest ContentDB). The reason I don't play it is because of things like bedrock and compact world generation. Hope this all helps you.

Your falls are based purely on your momentum in Minetest. Minecraft resets your fall damage back to 0 when even slightly touching water.
